  1. Odd... Ive not had those issues. Ill have to chuck Sonic in and have a go though. Oh and apparently the Retro-Bit ones are identical to the GN6 down to the PCB. So yeah, GN6 is probably the way to go. Bit sad to hear of all the d-pad issues with the new official Saturn controllers too. Makes me wonder which el cheapo theyre just rebranding.
  2. Interdasting. Me thinks you got a dud. My controller is fantastic. I’ve played right up to the last stage in Shadow Dancer with it and it didn’t skip a beat. It feels super nice and the d-pad is brilliant. And while I may have missed some a/v discrepancies with the console I am VERY fussy about control pads. I also have the GN6 pads - they’re okay but a bit too stiff IMO. Still good as far as third party ones go. I never had much luck with 8bitdo - the d-pads register odd directions from time to time. I know there are fixes but I’m lazy. Lol.
  3. Interesting... I didn’t notice that on my Loewe stereo CRT. Perhaps it would have been easier to tell on a stereo system. Thanks for the info. Anyway, the lacklustre Master System performance has led me to buy a 50/60hz modded Mega Drive. I’ll still keep the Mega Retron though for play on my LCD monitor. Interestingly, no one has mentioned the sprite glitches with Master System gameplay, so I’m guessing I either have a faulty machine or that my Power Base Mini is faulty. I guess I’ll know once the Mega Drive gets here. I hope it’s not the converter cart as I REALLY want to play my SMS collection!
  4. Ah cool, thanks for the clarification. Yeah it’s really good on my CRT. I’m also wondering if it’s my Power Base Mini which is giving me issues with the SMS games and not the Retron itself...
  5. No, not that. As you say, that’s normal. I’m talking about how some games (I think those that run at 256px wide) aren’t scaled properly and every nth pixel column is double wide, resulting in a weird shimmering effect when scrolling. It’s common in emulators too.
  6. I don't know how those boards translate to sales but 6000 isn't exactly a large number. Last time I played on Xbone I was near the top of the leaderboard and I only played it a few times - and I'm certainly not great at the game, so yeah, I'd consider it a huge flop. Of course sales could have picked up by then but if there are only 6k scores on PC I doubt it. EDIT: There are 66 reviews on Steam. In my experience (from both game a book sales) around 1% of people bother to review a game, so that works out at roughly 6600 sales - which seems in line with the leaderboards. That's a REALLY low number. I just hope it doesn't stop Atari and Minter et al from making more cool stuff, because this game is awesome. I don't quite like it as much as T2K but I think that's probably mainly for nostalgic reasons...
  7. Might have to put the disc in and attempt a score. Last time I played (Xbone) there were hardly any scores in the leaderboards. I'm guessing the game flopped majorly, which sucks. Minter is a god amongst men, erm, llamas.
  8. I just saw this too. I have a couple of Fountain Force 2 consoles and every game released here in NZ. It was a VERY popular console here and they're pretty easy to find in the wild. So yeah, add me to the list. LOL.
  9. Gah! I missed out on a mint in box hobby module a couple of years back. Sadly I didn't know how rare it was and it went cheap. Oh well. To make myself feel better I decided I'd only collect the 1292/1392 games that were officially released here in New Zealand under the Fountain brand. FYI - Atari 2600 box protectors fit perfectly Job done:
  10. It's a hardware clone, not an emulation box so it should pretty much run anything you throw at it. Tanglewood is the only one I have to test but I know this console even runs Virtua Racing, which most clones don't. I honestly highly recommend it as a Mega Drive - turns out input lag via HDMI was my TV too as it works great on my PC monitor.
  11. Yeah I'd like to know too. I've tried a few more and the Retron sucks for SMS. Don't even consider it for that. It is a brilliant Mega Drive though. I might pick up a Super Retro Trio. Only thing is the Genny side of things is only mono audio I believe. Might have to bite the bullet and go Analogue but it's a big outlay - especially with shipping to NZ.
  12. Okay, I have discovered an issue with Sega Master System emulation. Some games run well but California Games and Lemmings both have major sprite glitching so I'm guessing many other titles will too. This guts me as I was planning on using it for my SMS playing. Think I'll bite the bullet and get a Mega Sg. Or possibly just a region modded Mega Drive. Still very happy with SMD performance though.
  13. Yeah it's not bad, actually. I use mine on a CRT. There's no jailbars to speak off. Any artefacts are caused by my TV (it has some colour bleeding) or the difference in refresh rate between TV and camera. As far as AV out goes it's really good. EDIT: I should add that since I now own one of these I'm pretty happy with it. Sound quality isn't amazing but it's certainly better than what I had back in the day. The music/effects are spot on it's just not as clear as you'll get with an emulator or the Mega Sg. It's probably comparable to the Genny 2. I'm over the moon with performance however. Plays everything great. Yes it has that pixel crawl issue with games of a certain resolution but I haven't noticed it on the CRT so it maybe only affects the HDMI output? Also, there is zero lag on the CRT. It feels like playing it on an official console, only the image quality is better (no colour banding). For the price, it's a bloody good system. Even supports Virtua Racing and Everdrives. ANOTHER EDIT: The packaged controller is nothing short of fan-f@%&ing-tastic!
  14. Only on games that have battery backup etc. There are no save states.
  15. If it has a Fleshlight built into the front and a couple of cupholders for my beer I'm sold. Oh and a way to order pizza.
  16. I saw a YouTube playing on the SRT+ and it had horrible pixel crawl. I’m guessing it’s just a given that cheap clones wont handle upscaling properly This actually put me off buying that system yet none of the so called “reviewers” mention this stuff.
  17. And now it seems AtGames has silently released a new one: https://gbatemp.net/threads/atgames-sega-flashback-2018-edition-is-out-in-the-wild.522990/ Thanks to Madlittlepixel on Youtube for pointing this out: Now I'm not a fan of their emulation but this one actually looks like a proper little Mega Drive, not some "styled-like" job. Also has SD card.
  18. Yeah, fair enough. I’ve looked online for a suitable 4:3 monitor for my own build and they’re prohibitively expensive - like more than an entire 1up Arcade cabinet. I know you’d be buying in bulk but I guess they just don’t manufacture enough of them these days to get the price down.
  19. Ah, that’s a bit of a bummer for me as I’d really only be using it for retro games. I hate unused screen space and I hate stretched images even more... and I have my TV for the modern stuff
  20. Wait, so it's a 16:9 screen? Are there some more modern widescreen games included?
  21. Ah, okay. That's not a major though. Zero delay controllers are cheap as chips. I'm thinking it could be a cool option for my Pi. But then if it's really nice I won't want to hack it. LOL.
  22. I have to admit, this sounds pretty cool. And if AtGames gets the emulation together it will be even cooler but even just being a cabinet I can use for my Pi, C64 Mini and other consoles is pretty neat and saves me building one!
  23. So if the cabinet has HDMI with the controllers be USB? It'd be pretty cool to be able to swap out consoles - like play some C64 Mini, then some PS Classic or Xbox One Shame you can't get USB to NES/SNES Classic plugs because chucking those into a cabinet would be neat too.
  24. Sooooo... back to the title topic - when will it actually be unveiled? Because saying something is officially unveiled when it hasn't been unveiled at all does not mean it's been unveiled. That's the most I've ever typed the word unveiled!
