Thinking about it I'm kinda interested now too. If the cabinet is solid is doesn't matter if the emulation sucks as you'd be able to mod it with your own hardware. If the emulation is good - bonus! Certainly strikes me as more useful than a 3/4 sized unit. Shipping to New Zealand would be killer though. Also these new cabinets are a great way of showing kids how games used to be played. It's an awesome way of keeping the history of videogames alive. But yeah, please no multi art! Lol.

Why is no one talking about this new Hyperkin Genesis HD clone?

Thanks for the info. That's a deal-breaker for me. But just out of interest, does it play Virtua Racing? -

@derFunkenstein Nice, thanks mate! I literally only have one SMD and one SMS cart now but if it's a good console I'll pick one up to play Road Rash and Outrun -
Bill said in another thread that the paddle games on the Flashback 9 work with the new wireless paddles so I assume there will be a pack with paddles being released. I might just get the Flashback 8 because it has the paddles.
-
Waaaah! Couldn't find any of the blasts (I want the paddle one) or the Flashback 9 at Walmart. Oh well, I did find a reissue G1 Starscream

Ah right, thanks. On another note, you know how I said we get ripped off in New Zealand? Well I'm glad I cancelled my pre-order. They're asking NZ$130. That's like US$80! I didn't think it would retail at $44. I'm in Hawaii at the moment so I'll try track one down, otherwise I'll order from Castlemania too. -

Not sure if its the capture device or emulation but Sonics transparent blue shield was all kinds of wrong. -
Try pulling off dragon punches and then tell me if it's hyperbole As for the sound, if you can put up with it, good for you. I prefer for my game music to be in tune. As for the gold for tin analogy - when companies release incredible stuff like the Odroid Go for stupidly low prices you expect something twice the price to at least be decent. The AtGames Sega stuff truly is awful in my opinion. Yes I know there are licensing fees etc but that would explain the price difference. But I guess that's the thing about opinions - they differ
-
I had the handheld but the d-pad rendered it practically unplayable and die hard or not I could not handle that sound emulation. From what I gather the AtGames Atari stuff is fantastic though and I'm not as clued up on 2600 as I am with Mega Drive so small issues I probably wouldn't notice anyway
-
Oh sweet. Yeah I just want it for a bit of fun. It's a good price. Didn't know the paddles are wireless. Bill if you're reading this, are the paddles compatible with the Flashback 9? I can't seem to find a version of that with paddles.
-
I'm interested in the Blast with paddles. I don't care if the games are arcade or 2600. Currently in the US so I might hunt one down as well as a Flashback 9 if the missus lets me
-
Yeah maybe it's some random site that gets you to do that do they can show they've driven people to Walmart's site or something. It's all very odd. I still don't understand how the Blast could have been made with arcade ROMs and sent to reviewers before the ROMs being swapped. I read somewhere it was manufacturing issues? All the review units seemed to have a hell of a lot fewer issues than what's in store. Then again, I don't believe AtGames would be stupid enough to purposely do that as obviously it'd be picked up very quickly. It think it might have been a good idea to let the reviewers know once the problem arose though.
-
I can't see the incentive to randomly give AtGames products five star reviews before they're released though... I'd take your word for it but to be honest after the conflicting responses to people on Twitter in regards to the Blast dilemma I'm not sure what to think. Whole thing is very fishy to me.
-
Can you explain this, Bill? Multiple five star reviews before the products were even released and reviewed "for a contest".
-
I'm pretty much emulation only these days, whether it's through my Pi (and 256gb SD that took MONTHS to perfect) or my Nintendo and Commodore minis. Much more convenient to me and buying physical games is too price restrictive these days. When I was majorly into collecting in the '90s and early 2000s not a lot of other people really were so you could build up massive collections very cheaply. Plus these days I'm more about playing the games than having lots of stuff on the shelves. I do still have a small collection of nice games but no original hardware other than a Fountain Force 2.

Intellivision Entertainment launching a NEW Intellivision console
MantaNZ replied to Rev's topic in Intellivision / Aquarius
I was thinking about this. I think they have a plan that involves a lot of in house game development. I mean devs aren't going to rush to develop for a small user base, only make $2-8 per game and not be able to release on other consoles. You'd be lucky to make $10000. But if Intellivision is making money off the hardware and is focussing on remaking games that just involves the updated assets it could work. -

After watching the trailer... I FRIGGIN' WANT ONE. Team seems solid (big David Perry fan) and those remade games: Bad Dudes,R-Type etc... I've gone from being extremely doubtful to thinking it could be my dream console. -

MantaNZ replied to MantaNZ's topic in Sega Genesis
Thanks for the info mate. Yeah, thinking about it I might save the pennies for the Analogue unit. The Pi is awesome but there's some sort of psychological issue that prevents me from having 'that' feeling when not using original carts. Even using the Retron 5 gave me the warm fuzzies. Lol. The Master System and Mega Drive give me the most nostalgia so I think it might be worth it - I will wait for reviews though. I'm in no rush. -

TBH Id rather just buy another Mega Drive if I was that worried about accuracy. My Pi does a damned good job though so Im happy. No lag with my wired controllers, crisp graphics and awesome sound. Its even a better experience than a Genesis with HD Retrovision cables IMO, mainly because I can save progress and play literally thousands of games from multiple systems. Its pretty much the perfect solution for me so Im not too keen to drop US$189 on a clone no matter how good it is. In saying all that the Hyperkin one if it had stereo sound might have tempted me back into collecting physical games... lol maybe I should just save for that Mega Sg. -

From a quick look I see availability issues - it's also at Mighty Ape for pre order so I guess they're making more. -

Can't argue there. I'm hoping to do a paper or two on FPGA development during my degree. It's something that really interests me. I'd love to be able to even just write a basic Master System core at some stage but from what I gather it's super difficult. -

It’s NZ$130. That’s around US$80 and I’m guessing it’ll only be $60-70 when it arrives in the US as we get royally ripped off here. So it’s not exactly going after the same market. Just like every other SNES clone isn’t really competing with the Super NT. Also FPGA doesn’t automatically mean 100% accuracy. They can claim that but they also claim zero lag from those 8bitdo controllers. My SN30 controller caused enough lag on my SNES Classic that I went back to the stock wired controllers. Even my cheap $11 AliExpress cheapies I bought for the NES Classic perform way better. I’m still interested but I’ll wait for reviews etc until I plop down NZ$300+ on a clone console. -

Too late, my brain already dribbled out my ear due to confusion.
