Good luck getting Sean...I've been trying for 6 months Steve
-
To answer some questions: The unit has two 15-pin 5200 joystick ports. The unit also has some nice heft to it and definitely doesn't look/feel chintzy ala the 2600jr. Dan did not remember for sure how many were made, however he hinted at a probable low survival rate (well, we know Mitch has one!) The one he sold me was the only one he had ever owned and he only knows of a few out there. As to why Atari shitcanned it before release, Dan says it's just one of those dumb Atari decisions. Anyone else know different? @sku-u...you wanted to see the joystick ports or the cart port?? Thanks to all for your interest. Steve

Hi guys! Well, here's the first part of my big announcement...my beautiful Little Pam aka 5100, aka 5200jr straight from the man Dan Kramer himself! For those who have never seen one in person, it is about the size of a 7800 but heavier. Dan finally broke down and we made a deal for some stuff...this being the first part. He also sent an autographed CX53 (of course) and the 300-page Atari parts listing (real cool). I have tested it with my Sean multicart and I haven't found any game incompatibilities so far (Mountain King and Pitfall play fine). Please let me know anything else you would like to know about the unit. Part 2 soon...stay tuned

Hi guys, Sorry I've been silent lately...I lost my job a month and a half ago and have been a little busy networking and looking for employment. Anyway, here's a link to a few game and non-game items I have up on eBay: http://cgi6.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?View...5&since=-1&rd=1 Please bid, I really could use the dough And by the way, I will have a BIG announcement shortly about an acquisition I have finally closed on that has been in negotiations since I was still employed. I hope it interests a few members...stay tuned. Steve

Hey...is this 5200 joystick really that rare?
landsmarra replied to SteelerFan's topic in Auction Central
I've dealt with Sean on several occasions and have found him to be forthright in every respect. I am of course sorry to hear when a member or a relative has a problem...my prayers are with you, Sean. BTW, I did get me a Starcon and wouldn't sell it that big, fat, excessive, clumsy thing for anything (well, right now anyway)! Just my $.02 Steve -
Hi all, I own this DVD set and have enjoyed it since I got it a month anda half ago...I have watched it a few times already. Unfortunately for me I ordered it before the price reduction... HSW, if you read this, do I have a $20?

Hey guys, Just in case anyone's interested...it's a great piece. The box could be in better shape but how many of these do you see even complete? http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...=ADME:B:LC:US:1 Let me know if you guys have any questions... Thanks, Steve

I lived in the Bronx, NY as a kid and here's where I got my stuff: Honig's (non-heavy six-switch that I still have from 1980) Corner's (5200 console, $199 new in 1982 I believe) I still remember going into Corner's looking for some 2600 cart and when I found out they were out of it, I took 2600 Basketball! Boy I had fun with that game. Of course I got games from Sears too. In fact, I recently picked up a complete copy of Off The Wall that had the original Sears packing slip on it. Ahhh, the memories of the big Christmas Wish catalog. Steve

LOL...poor attempt at subterfuge.

KNEW IT!! Good catch! However, if you had the KTel box and looked real close, I think there's some pubic hair showing Steve
-
Yup, that's where I'm referring to. I guess you really need to have to box in front of you.
-
Nah, definitely not a hand with fingers... Hmmm, Tom Boy is a bit chesty now that you mention it. I think we have the making of a new poll..."Raciest VCS boxes." Steve
-
FYI, Al has a box scan but it's hard to see: http://www.atariage.com/box_page.html?Soft...wareLabelID=767 Steve

Hey guys, OK, everyone break out your K-Tel Vision boxes (yes, all 20 of you) and take a look at the picture in the center of the box...it's the one where the guy's head looks like it's in a mountain. Now look below the head just to the left under the trees and you'll see 5 or 6 very small flesh-colored maidens (I think). Anyone else see it or am I just oversexed? Steve

Hmm, all this talk about 2600 Defender...Bob Polaro's ear must be ringing! I, too, was OK with the 2600 verison but would sit for HOURS and play the 5200 version simply because I could thrust/reverse with the stick and not buttons. This alone caused me to almost never play the arcade version (nor on MAME). Mind you, I never saw a Defender cab with thrust/reverse built into the joystick. Long live 5200 Defender! Steve

Hey guys, With the impending release of the CC2, I was thinking... How about putting one inside a 7800 and wiring it up such that the unit could detect if a cart was in the unit or not and if not, boot the CC2 menu. A slot could be put on the side/back of the 7800 for access to the MMC (in case more ROMs need to be added and such). Can anyone comment on feasibility? How hard would it be to do the cart detection thing? Could it be done through a OS ROM hack (actually the PAL/NTSC OS ROM that boots Asteroids with no cart inserted must be doing something similar) or through other circuitry? Thanks, Steve

Hi all, Well, I'm looking specifically for the 7800-compatible version of the Zoomer. It would look exactly like this one (with the 7800 switch on the front): http://www.atari7800.org/console/zoomer.htm I know it's a longshot but if I find one, I'm gonna use it on the 2600, 7800 and with homemade adapters, the NES and SNES. Thanks, Steve

Too late...jackbergsales sold out of Commie Mutants...now we know where the guy got it from! Steve
-
Crap, if I could that much for a sealed Commie Mutants, I'll go to www.jackbergsales.com and buy up a case! Steve

Hi guys, We all know the playability on the 7800 light games for the most part sucks. I have heard that it is due to the Atari light gun as well as the software. I know a conversion exists for a SMS light gun but am wondering if it really works better than a stock XEGS gun or does the game coding really hamper the playability. I'm just trying to figure out if it's worth the trouble to modify a SMS gun. Any insight would be appreciated. Thanks, Steve

Hey guys, Can anyone point me to an N64 rarity list? I'm having trouble locating one on the 'net. If not, can anyone provide some feedback as to which carts are rarer than others? A video store in my neighborhood is selling out their ex-rentals and I'd like to know if he has any gems. BTW, this is the same store I picked up a boxed Mega Man 7 for the SNES for $7.50 (and sold for $60)! Thanks, Steve

Anyone know if this top-load NES mod exists?
landsmarra posted a topic in Classic Console Discussion
Guys, Anyone know if a mod exists to remove the vertical "stripes" that show up on this console? Someone who worked out a fix for the Super 8 converter (which has the identical problem) mentioned that he would provide mod info for a top-load NES if you contacted him. Well, his email addy is apparently no longer valid. Thanks, Steve -
Somehow I got hooked on PGA Tour Golf for the SNES. Only once did I get a hole in one and no one was there to see it! Steve

Anyone interested in the 5200 STARCON controller?
landsmarra replied to MrRetroGamer's topic in Atari 5200
So just what is the story on the Starcon? Nobody seems to have one. Were they released commercially? Was it a limited-release proto? Steve -
Hi guys, Anyone have any boxed non-import games for this forgotten little system? I have a few, not many. Thanks, Steve
