  1. Can anyone comment on the best hard-drive package for the 8-bits? I'm thinking about upgrading my own system. Thanks!
  2. ...make that three! Is the game going to be distributed independently, or in co-ordination with a house such as Songbird or Telegames?
  3. I've looked on the web, and found that it was published by "American Eagle" Software in 1983. Strange, I thought it was an "Adventure International" title. In any case, I remember seeing print ads listing "Masquerade" as being available for a number of platforms, including the Apple II. "Masquerade" was a graphic adventure in which you, as a P.I. attempted to solve a mystery in a small town (and in that town's building's such as a hotel, the "Bijoux" cinema, etc.
  4. Does anyone have a copy of "Masquerade" on disk? I loved playing it when it first appeared on the TI-99 4/a, but have never found it for the 8-bit Atari.
  5. I've seen a few of these floating around, and was thinking about picking one up. Does anyone know if "scanned" program listings were ever published (and are still available)... or would I be reduced to running package labels through the thing?
  6. ...And by the way, I've heard that a new run of BS Gold carts is in the works!
  7. Wow! I'd LOVE a new Atari sticker for $200! What was that? There's a GAME included as well?
  8. Can someone comment on the quality of this game? Several sites (ok, vendors) list this as a "must-have".
  9. I subscribed to both "ANALOG" and "Antic" when they existed, and regularly scoured the magazine racks for Atari User, "Hi Res", and my personal favourites, "ROM" and "Popular Computing". None of those were, of course, "retro gaming" magazines when they were published. What I really meant was that it would be nice if someone(group) published a magazine for 8-bitters [/i]today...along the lines of what "COMPUTE!" used to be like.
  10. Does anyone have a falcon that they'd like to sell me?
  11. Would anyone be interested in selling me a Falcon that they might have...lying around...neglected?
  12. Is anyone interested in reviving one of the old Atari User Groups that used to exist in the area? I, for one, would like to set up a Lynx/8-bit/Jaguar library, but would welcome the addition of ST (and other classic computer) software titles.
  13. Can anyone comment on the following games? I've heard that they're available from "B & C Computervisions", and I'm thinking about picking up a copy or two: - Tower Toppler -Xenophobe -Dark Chambers In addition, can anyone tell me if any XL/XE cartridges were produced by Atari or another 3rd party vendor in the '90s? (not "pirated" versions of vapourware)
  14. Yes, of course. I do wish that some enterprising individual(s) would get together and publish a magazine devoted to all 8-bits (with, of coure, type-ins). Surely the community of "retro" gamers would be large enough to support this type of enterprise!
  15. I myself find "Scrapyard Dog" to be extremely varied and complex. I spent alot of hours playing this one when it first came out on the Lynx, and was continually surprised by the huge number of Easter Eggs and hidden bonuses scattered throughout each level. There are, for instance, a few hidden shops on the higher levels which enable you to purchase as many lives as you want. This game demands careful exploration!
  16. I myself picked up a copy of Captain Beeble in the late '80s-- it's always been one of my favourites! If I remember correctly, it was published by a Canadian company (Inhome Software, based close to my own home town), and was produced around '83 or '84. I don't believe that it was too successful, and have never seen any other copies.
  17. I remember that game! It was a type-in from "Analog" magazine and had a name that closely matched the one you named. I bet you could find it if you looked at some old copies (that can be found on-line, I believe)
  18. I found them at "digitalcentre.com" (I think). Good luck!
  19. "The Digital Centre", a retailer in Ontario, Canada, still has a few Lynx games for sale for the very-reasonable price of $4 CDN each (approx US $2.50). I ordered a bunch of games from them, and I'm happy to say that all but a few of them were new, unopened, and still in their original shrink-wrap.
  20. To anyone who may be interested: I've just discovered that "The Digital Centre", a retailer in Ontario, Canada, has a limited number of Jaguar carts for the quite reasonable price of $15 Cdn (each). All carts are boxed and come complete with instructions and overlays (unless otherwise noted). Titles are as follows: 1. Alien v. Predator 2. Wolfenstein 3D 3. Checkered Flag 4. Cybermorph Good luck!
