  1. I would love to see a Jackel remake....but the idea of Quarth? Quarth was entertaining..I owned it when it first came out because the Gameboy puzzles games were something different and time consuming. I still remember the box art with all the different colors of the blocks, then you pop in the game and bam! No Colors.....speaking of color....remember hyper color t shirts? Sorry thats off topic...

  2. I was browsing Fleabay for Atari Jaguar games this evening and came across these:

    Alien vs Predator (Sealed) $249.95

    Double Dragon (Sealed) $200

I know from looking around that a sealed copy of AvP can sell for good money, but for $249.95? I nearly chocked on my Schweppes when I came across the Double Dragon auction. :D

That Alien vs. Predator has a Sexy looking box....so Shiny....did they clean it with "gold plated turtle wax?" TM

  3. Yeah Sundays are tough for me but yeah we need to get the ball rolling on this again.

Kelly does not know her work times that far a head but we will figure out something and it sounds like Zeta and my other friend Chris wants to come too.

I would love to come, but I probaly don't have much to trade as of right now...Myabe just hang out talk some games...relive the past if you wanna play some neo geo Im up for that...Good times maybe even a beer or two...Im buying...

  4. So, of the non-first-person RPGs (released in the US) for the NES, which was best? I think that's all the US releases.

There are a couple of US released top down RPGs not on the list. Destiny of an Emperor and (Legend of the) Ghost Lion.

Dragon Warrior 2 (1987)introduced the "morals system". Sure you could buy a sword from the blind arms dealer for 1 piece of gold, but then your honesty virtue was down...and then there were the portals that only came around when the moons were in a certain alignment...who was on dope when they made this system? Needless to say, never played that one more than maybe just to level my characters.

That sounds like one of the Ultima games. Dragon Warrior II was a standard JRPG and didn't have any morals system. A couple of the Ultima games had one, though.

Dragon Warrior 3 followed closely to the gameplay of #2, therefore...didn't get much of my attention I was hooked on something else called Final Fantasy....

Dragon Warrior 3 is a huge step up from 2 due to an expanded world and a class system (which Dragon Warrior 2 didn't have).

2 & 3 had the virtues installed into them for the nes...? Ok so looking back..I clearly mixed the two...but there were portals in Dragon Warrior..II maybe III...Either way, my point being...neither one or any other game on the NES compaired in Size or playability like Dragon Warrior IV...When that game came out.....Final Fantasy was a mere spec on the radar...

My vote is still for Dragon Warrior IV.....I apologize to the entire community for mistaking the two series Ultima and Dragon Warrior, but I will say that post mentioning Ghost Lion......"WHo has ever heard of that game?"

"White Lion" is one of the first role playing games I picked up complete for my collection just because I used to rent that one as a child as well...I would go to the rental and scope out all the boxes....for the game pics..by looking at the cover who would have thought the game was an RPG? THe coverart has a chick and some white lion on the cover...I thought maybe she was a lion tamer and you fed the Lion crackers or something...But looking at the back of the box...they had shown pics of gameplay and I would rent it ofter...never beat it, but might drop back and beat it just to recall the story..I think the girl was the main hero...who makes a girl the main character...?

Either way, worth playing, but it is no Dragon Warrior IV....

  5. Hands Down...."The Best top down RPG on the classic NES is Dragon Warrior IV"!

Dragon Warrior I (1986) was alright...Played it all the way through...good classic story..You are the descendant of Erdrick..You find his armor shield sword boots? maybe a couple other things as you play through the then seemingly pointless battles, but as you played you learned that the battle after battle system was something that hadn't really been done before, but you bettered your character after doing so.

At the time Dragon Warrior I was given away for free with the subscription to Nintendo Power, I was busy spending hours playing through something called Mega Man 2. Already spent hours playing Mega Man 1 (1987), but in # 2 (1989), I had to show Dr. Wyle what my Mega Man was all about, but then came the Dragon Warrior series. Turned my favorite style of gameplay from action adventure to Role Playing for the next 20 years.

Dragon Warrior 3 followed closely to the gameplay of #2, therefore...didn't get much of my attention I was hooked on something else called Final Fantasy....

Then came October 1992....many kids were stuck on this Final Fantasy kick, but I was at the rental store every weekend renting this game called Dragon Warrior IV....each weekend I had only hoped that my game wasnt rented and that the game i put my initials on was the one I would be getting as they had two copies of the same game at the rental store that I went to. There were 7 different chapters and each of the first six allowed you to start a new chapter with a new character..This built up a huge story and gave you well over 40 hours of gameplay. For the first time I new what it meant to be a part of the game. My characters had a story and each chapter led me closer to chapter 7 where my characters from individual stories would eventually share their stories with one another...Back to the annoying fact that my rental store had two copies of the same game. Do you know how many times I had to restart this game? Do you know the most annoying part of this entire game, other than the boss at the end of the game kept on morphing and adding additional parts to its body to make a new bad guy several times before you could beat the boss and finish the game?

Well, Let me tell you what it was...the most annoying part of this game was the 4the chapter? I think it was the 4th chapter...your characters name was Taloon...Taloon was the traveling merchant...during his chapter and with his story you had to help pay for an excavation to digging a tunnel to a town north of his. The game allowed you to set up a shop and the shop was where you would get this ridiculous amount of gold to continue the digging project. You set up your own shop and people would randomly come in with items.. You could work the counter and buy the items or you could wonder the world and kill bad guy for items to sell in your own shop...Well the broad sword was the item of choice because it sold for the most and allowed you to get to the point faster. After that was finished you basically had his chapter completed if I remember correctly. Either way..the saving of the gold was annoying as Peach pie without whipped topping...

Overall, Dragon Warrior IV was what a role playing game was supposed to be like...Several characters, all of different types that come together to save the world as a whole with their wonderful wagon that help your party while you traveled...Amazing game until the death of NES rpg's Final Fantasy II for the super nintendo...that game took forever to come out, but when it did..sorry DW IV I have a new best friend. It was called the Super Nintendo, not the nes.....

  6. Not that I know of. Everyone seems to have drifted away again.

I was hoping for a meet up next month before Thanksgiving if anyone is game for this?

Im up for it this time Jonnie..Im off every saturday in November

Let me know when...I can even drive if you need

  7. "Where is Rock n' Roll Racing"???

I left out all sports, racing and simulation games. They have a tendency of getting old real fast ;)

What I actually did forget though is Warcraft, IIRC was the first still published by Interplay. (I think it came out only a month or two after Blackthorne.)

Gonna have to change my vote to the Warcraft then....ROck n Roll was more of a Action Racing game though....not real common at the time as far as the mix between sound and racing went...so withdraw my last comment and add in Warcraft for myself...

  8. Honestly, I saw Ice Hockey at #100 and did not need to see any more. Ice Hockey is top 50 material, easy.

Ice Hockey was sweet for its massive fights that took place for no reason....Skinny guys always kicked the shit out of the fat guys...

Great gameplay..Blades of Steal? You got nothing on Ice Hockey by Nintendo...Where is Ice Hockey 2 for the Wii or somethin?

  9. NES is something I remember and getting Dragon Warrior for free. my cousin gave his away at a YARD SALE for free....definately not #8....

    Where is Contra?

Not in the top ten why?

Everyone knew it and the code when nintendo was out.....

  10. I have an ex employees ID name on my Ps3...anytime he downloads something he just calls me and tells me what he downloaded....He didnt leave any credit card information on his account so I dont see it, but the way it works...

You have your own ID login and your friend has thiers...

You set up an extra ID login on your ps3 with thier email and password...

When you sign on, you sign on under their name....their backgroud comes up with thier settings..

Then you have to visit the Playstation Store...

When you go into the store you goto the recent downloads and you can download them to your ps3...

From there you log out and the download is on your id as well...

(Sidenote: while logged in under thier id...you can purchase stuff if they have a credit card or credit on their account...you can also pm their friends lists....nice to mess with your friends friends just for laughs...)

As for this being illegal? Thats all covered before this post...Im not into the legalities of the situation at hand...

  11. Was part of the Beta program they had for this one, (since I'm an official bata tester and all) Must say I was impressed...Sony has been hacking games left and right and experimenting way too much lately....

But Uncharted...? Like playing a movie that my girlfriend can't stop watching...."Honey get the popcorn!"

I love it! The commercials are back to goodness..the gameplay is absolutely dead set...and it is only on the Ps3..sorry microsoft fans,....this one has sony all over it....

  14. People can charge whatever they want for stuff. Nothing crooked about that. It is kind of silly when people gripe about Ebay prices. If you don't like the price, then don't buy it. That being said, I don't think this is a real great business model. Check his completed listings and feedback. He has only sold a few in the past few months, and he is no doubt sitting on a ton of inventory.

I have to stand in on this one for the Reverand with a very blunt statement...

"I hate that Ebay even has prices!"they have blocked out the highest bidders...so why not block out the ending prices of items? (Would that work?)

There are so many local stores in my area that sell games and have no idea what to sell them for...so they turn to ebay....Ebay is a place to get items you wouldnt see in your area..or hard to find stuff....Hard to find stuff goes for a fair price...stuff you dont see in your area...means you might live in Utah..I been there...There is no where to find video games....But I found them..>!

There are several store owners that see you can buy video games at a higher price because ebay has them high..So they post items for sale...buy them themselves and then charge as much as they want....When you question why A boxed ET is 30 bucks..they say "Check Ebay if you think it can be found cheaper.>!"

I had a local business owner come to me and He said "I have been told you know the most out of anyone about games and what they sell for...Will you make me a price guide to go by?"

I told him he couldnt pay me enough and He started buying games and selling them with no guidance...then he went to ebay...even now he doesnt sell games in his store anymore, because he realized he didnt have clue....

(Side note: I once told the CEO of a game store that I could single handedly save his game business....he blocked me from facebook, but all he needs to do is get some guys together that know the old stuff and start selling and trading for old stuff again...dont hack the prices and dont sell good games 3 for 5 bucks..this only leaves you with sports games!)

I am sure that someone has wrote a book on the ebay scammers that are out there...I just locate that store and then they go on my "You don't Get my Money List"

I just located a new store this past weekend that will no longer get my money....

Its life...If that guy wants to charge outrageous prices...Im sure no one here would buy his items, but for little Jonnie in podunk Iowa? Who is gonna hold his hand and show him the way......"Maybe there is no one better than God himself?"
