  1. I think he misunderstood the problem. The problem is that there is nothing in the text window to print. This is the result from trying to print a couple lines of text from Atariwriter. I've also tried printing from other applications with the same result. I'm not sure how to interpret the log window. Does it look normal?
  2. This is what I tried. I set P1 for 1025 emulation and opened the printer text box. I have my 800 connected with an SIO2USB adapter and running Atari Writer. Saving and loading from a virtual floppy disk in Respeqt works fine. When I print, I can see the printer communications in the log window. The computer doesn't give any error messages while printing. But nothing appears in the Respeqt printer text window. I am able to print to my real 1025 printer without any problems.
  3. Is there a trick to getting the printer emulation to work? My 800 thinks it's printing and there are no errors, but nothing is displayed in the Respeqt print window. Printing from my 800 to my real 1025 works just fine.
  4. So if I'm running a HOKEY in my concerto, is the 30327 BIOS the best choice?
  5. I've never been to this expo but would like to check it out this year. It's about a 3.5 hour drive from Peoria. I would probably drive up Saturday morning and drive home that evening.

    DKR [WIP]

The author of these remix's has been helping me out with explanations of how his game modifications work. He's play tested what I have so far and couldn't find any differences in the gameplay. I couldn't get the his DK remix binary either, but he did give me a copy of the Christmas remix binary, since it is already out there. It's basically the same except for the graphics. I disassembled it and with some help from my commented DK code, I've been able to figure out how it all works.

    DKR [WIP]

Thanks for asking. I'm thinking it's best to keep it to Atariage for now. I'll post updates here as they become available for play testing.

    DKR [WIP]

Here are a few video's I posted. The audio is quiet in this one so you will need to turn up the volume a bit. Kill Screen - It doesn't have super short timout like original DK. It just throws all the barrels as fast as possible.

    DKR [WIP]

Here's a demo to try on your Concerto carts. I've been working on this on and off again for about 6 years. I'm trying to find the motivation to finish it, but I can't guarantee it will be anytime soon. I thought I'd go ahead and put the demo out for people to try out. Should play exactly like the real deal, even more so than DKXM. There is only one screen so far and it just repeats continuously. It's working on Concerto with the latest 0.96 firmware. I haven't tested it on earlier versions. It uses RAM at $4000 and 128k Bank switching. The sound is done with POKEY or HOKEY but some of the sounds are off on HOKEY. Synthpopalooza used some two-tone mode sounds that don't seem to be supported on the HOKEY. Hopefully they will be supported eventually. PLEASE DON'T POST ABOUT THIS OUTSIDE OF ATARIAGE. And keep comments to this thread only. Thanks! EDIT: If you are using an emulator, use the version Trebor provided in the second post. Thanks Trebor! Enjoy! DKRDEMO.A78
  10. Regarding the 8 vs. 4 way, I was only asking how we can tell it's an 8-way from a photo, because I was curious if this was an assumption or if there is some evidence proving it to be fact. I never indicated any doubt that it is not the original stick or that the game is therefore not all original. With that said, please go ahead and keep stating the obvious that it is not original and that is all that matters.
  11. Seems like all we need is a Yamaha version of HOKEY plugged into a POKEY cart.
  12. Can someone explain how we know it was an 8-way stick from just a photo, and not gated for 4-way? Just curious.
  13. I just updated my Concerto to 0.96 and installed my new HOKEY. Thanks Fred! The audio works as long as the game doesn't try to test for POKEY. DK XM works fine but it just assumes POKEY is present. Bently Bear works fine also. Beefdrop and Froggie are only working with TIA. Is this normal for HOKEY? Also, does the Concerto currently respond to writes at $470 for enabling/disabling RAM/POKEY/HSC?
  14. I'm determined to make it until I'm ready to retire. After that I need to avoid the "retire then croak" phenomenon. This is going to be an exact copy of the "Donkey Kong Remix" hack that was done by a DK fan originally for the CoCo3. He started his journey by porting the original DK to the CoCo3 by doing a Z80 to 6809 code conversion. Graphics code was specific to the CoCo, but the game code was a direct conversion. He then did the Remix update on the CoCo3 and eventually decided to port it back to the arcade hardware. You can buy a ROM kit for it. I'm basically doing the same thing for the 7800. I'm taking the DK Remix that he created for the Arcade hardware and converting the code from Z80 to 6502. I wrote 7800 specific graphics code that behaves like the arcade hardware. Sprites for all the objects are generated and animated with the same data structures. The game code is then directly translated from Z80 with some optimizations so that it run's efficiently on the 6502. I'm able to run the game code at a 60 hz framerate with all gameplay mechanics and timing identical to the arcade version. Take a look at this video at 1:20 to see how many objects I can have moving around the screen at once. A have to give @Synthpopalooza a shout out for doing the POKEY sound. It's sounding very authentic.
  15. It would not be anytime soon. I have this other project I started years ago but just haven't been able to find the time to work on it lately. I'm not starting anything new until I can get Donkey Kong Remix finished.
  16. This is looking awesome! I'm totally in for buying one.

  18. Ray, Way off topic. Please keep your youtube stuff to the existing Atari Report topics. Thanks.
  19. I was comparing mine to the archived APX version. The two unknown versions you posted look to be based off the archived APX version.
  20. I did a quick comparison and the code appears to be a different assembly. It would need to be disassembled to identify the differences. I did find some text identifying the version of each disk. From the archived version - Galahad and the Holy Grail (1982)(APX)(US)[!].atr APX-20132›GALAHAD AND THE HOLY GRAIL›DOUGLAS CROCKFORD›07/16/82›0› And from my copy. APX-20132›GALAHAD AND THE HOLY GRAIL 1.2›DOUGLAS CROCKFORD›03/21/83›0› Mine has a newer revision date.
  21. I just purchased the APX version of Galahad and the Holy Grail off Ebay and I noticed that the title screen is a little different from the one that is in the archive. The copyright line on my copy starts with the words "Special Edition". I don't see this on the archive copy. The disk shows this is version 1.2. edit: I've attached an ATX copy that I made using my 810 Archiver. Galahad and the Holy Grail V12.atx
  22. I picked this up complete in box a few months ago, including a nice bag of microscopic space fleet. I haven't had a chance to play it yet, but may have some time over the holiday.
