I was curious if any of the vcs games are compatible to run on an 2600 sd cart on real hardware? I haven’t bought one as I didn’t like the lack of cartridge slot. Looking at things like yars reloaded and so on.

Difference Between Mr. Run and Jump/Gunslinger and Standard
chriswhit replied to Mr Hudson's topic in Atari General
On pre order day 1 mr run and jump didn’t have a standard edition yet ether so there’s a good chance there playing on the one available sells and they offer the standard a week or 2 later after they sell a bunch of the limited for more $. I’m gonna but 2 standard Mr run and jump so I can open the case on 1 and share board pics so we know if there using all modern hardware inside or totally new hardware similar to the melody carts. Obviously it’s not gonna be a melody but $30 is cheap to find out. The above on standard edition to come is speculation based on what I noticed with mr run and jump -
Difference between Mr. Run and Jump and the Limited Edition.
chriswhit replied to MachoDrone's topic in Atari 2600
I was wondering the same and searched before asking. Glad I found this post. I did notice the limited editions of games are limited to a certain number of pre orders available. The other is only limited by how many pre order. I’m now wondering if I should buy both versions just for complete collection sake. I don’t plan to use the carts but if they’re not shrink wrapped then I plan to use my dumper and put them on my sd flash carts. Unfortunately I missed a few before I knew like all the items that are currently sold out. So wish I noticed before it was too late. The ones I missed were the xp line and man I wish time machines existed lol. I even wanted the $449.99 limited edition 3 game set but it sold out right before I got up the funds. Now I got a few grand to drop but everything sold out except the new outlaw limited edition. They’re probably gonna be harder to find in the wild than the rarity 10s in the original collection. I definitely won’t miss another product cause now I’m aware that lots is happening. I bought the 2600 plus minutes after pre orders opened. Never gonna open that as it’s an emulator but still part of Atari so it’s definitely worth having for the new era part of everything. The biggest thing I wonder especially on the limited editions is do they limit to 1 per customer or can you order 2-3 so you can leave one sealed, open one and gift one for Christmas? Lastly 20 years from now if I had both versions of mr run and jump will they be collectible like the old originals? I know value would be lower as it’s not the original products but is it worth both version fro that point of view? Edit: yars return I so wanna play but missed it. I guess that means I may never get a chance. When I first noticed the xp line I didn’t realize it was 2600 stuff and assumed it always Atari pc games -
Didn’t have time to read all 26 pages but would love to know if Atari has any plans for 7800 releases or maybe the unreleased xm module. I think 7800 games done right could make real big also are they gonna release the lost and found tower of mystery game by Matell for 2600?

Yes I got no interest in money back. My interest is what yours is for the most part. Backed up and playable is all I want. I’m guessing you wanna do a review to and don’t blame you there

Already did that on day 1 and offered a grand not knowing if it worked then offered more after knowing what it was. Then I told him feel free to counter offer. He said was unsure what he wanted to do and that he did wanna see it released. I think he’s worried bout copy rights due to Atari purchasing M network. Me I don’t care if there is a copy right. I was willing to go $3000 and just post the bin cause that’s what I got to play with. Should I offer more than that?
-
That does suck. How does Atari expect to sell many if they limit their clientele that way. Hope you find a way.
-
Yes if I sell mine I’ll wait 20 years or so. I’ve read so many posts on glitches and flaws people see that I wonder if it’s gonna be value less and labeled as one of Atari’s major mistakes. I haven’t done any home brew work myself as I’m a hardware hacker and mild software hacker enough so to get my mods up and running especially for the xbox360. Not jtags but built dev or xdk consoles with home built side cars. I’m researching some as I’d love to attempt a 7800 game from scratch. I wonder if Atari just picked the cheapest home brewer they could find. Just seems most of the comments state issues that seem like programmer lacks proper experience. Maybe they wanted 1977 all over again but the fans are past that and wanna push the systems or atleast have quality roms. I did see the flicker everyone mentions but the rest of it I’m clueless. The rolling screen thing I gotta read posts closer but makes me think I may regret buying it. None of my systems are modded except my 7800 dev.

Ps2 and wii had issues and a price drop? Other than Atari sega genesis and nes the only console I’ve ever bought new was the xbox360. Mostly worried I’d miss my bracket to get. Reading comments on posts I was thinking less will buy and worried they might cancel or something.

Damn I speed bought soon as pre order opened. Almost skipped cause I think it’s iffy for the price but maybe value years from now unopened will pay off though I’ll be dead when I sell lol

Atari SA releasing limited run 2600 cartridges.
chriswhit replied to Nall3k's topic in Atari General
Is yars return and yars recharged different games? I thought I read yars return was a fixed prototype that ended up on the 2005 flashback but I do know not everything on line is accurate and it also been a couple years since I read the article I found. -
Atari SA releasing limited run 2600 cartridges.
chriswhit replied to Nall3k's topic in Atari General
Just found this thread and man there’s a lot to read to get up to speed, 33 pages. Are these 2600 or st games or both? If 2600 have I missed them? -
Yes I was gonna buy a copy to never open just cause the first cart release in house in many years. What I don’t get is Why postpone a pre order 1 day? I think the release on the 25th for steam and windows probably didn’t go well and they’re probably debating on what to do. That’s the only logical reason as they already said in add 3-4 months to ship so if it’s guaranteed release why postpone? I bet it gets postponed again tomorrow. Well maybe they had an issue with the sight but it’s gotta be one of those 2 reasons.
-
Well weird they jump the date up one day on a pre order. Something fishy going on if you ask me. Being a pre order shipping several months from now it wouldn’t matter if there was a glitch issue cause it’s not shipping for a while. I didn’t like the game but now they’re playing with us date wise. I’m standing clear of this one and I bet the date changes tomorrow too.
-
I’m thinking it’s not going to release. It’s 20 minutes till noon eastern standard time and it’s still not available. On the 25th the windows/steam version released and if it didn’t do well so far Atari may dump the project. More people are disappointed than like it. In ways I don’t blame them. I do hope I’m wrong cause my plan is never open the game cause it will automatically be a r10 and just need some years to pass by and anyone that has it unopened will have good resale value 10-20 years from now
