  1. Breakin' the law, breakin' the law! So now I want to listen to Judas Priest while playing "Turbo." "Then we race together. We can ride forever. Wrapped in horse-power, driving into fury Changing gear I pull you tighter to me. I'm your turbo lover. Tell me there's no other. I'm your turbo lover. Better run for cover."
  2. Good news! I've started coding, and I have some code ready for testing! 100 CALL CLEAR Of course, I'll continue refining this, but I hope to add a "PRINT" statement soon! okay, so I'm a bit of a smartass...
  3. Actually, according to trivia I've read, originally "The Attack" was supposed to be an "Alien" tie-in. I don't see any resemblance, personally... O_o
  4. Funnily enough... Some of the J-Pop I listen to is from the Vocaloid program -- and I've started associating those songs with some of my ColecoVision games, just because it winds up playing so often (I use Winamp on shuffle) when I'm playing CV. Just like when I'm on the TI, Winamp likes to throw Joan Osborne's "One of Us" out there quite often, as well as 4 Non Blondes' "What's Up." Everything else in my playlist (the artists I named above) plays more or less equally randomly when I'm playing Dreamcast games or when I'm on the PC, though.
  5. That's 'Snake' Pliskin to you buddy boy... lol He's referring to my IRL name, LOL. And who said it was 1981? Guess you didn't read the *disclaimer... ^_~ But, yes, many of those would make good games. Hmmm... "The Time Bandits Escape from the Lost Ark." ^_~
  6. After making Extended BASIC suggestions to Opry99er and Primordial Ooze, and skimming through the handbook last night, I've decided that my XB skills aren't as rusty as I'd originally thought, and I know enough to at least start on a new XB game. I don't want to go too much into it yet, since real life, unfortunately, has a lot of demands on me right now, and I may not finish it anytime soon. I will say, however, that it won't have a conventional scoring system. Scoring will be simply a way for the game to decide when you're ready to engage in a "boss battle." The game will require TI Extended BASIC, but will otherwise run on an unexpanded TI (i.e., it doesn't require E/A, 32k expansion, etc.). I'm toying with the idea of using speech, but it will depend on how large the program ends up being, and whether I feel it actually adds anything to the gameplay. If I have room for a title screen, I may be asking Owen for help with the title screen music. Oh, and it's loosely based on a movie that came out around the time of the TI-99/4A*. Feel free to engage in speculation. ^_~ *disclaimer: not "at the time the TI came out," but "around the time of the TI's original lifespan."
  7. Wow, after the last few replies, I feel kind of weird posting that, unless the game has a variety of BGM, I turn down the TV and turn on Aerosmith, AC-DC, Thin Lizzy, Motley Crue, Spinal Tap (yes, I know!), Def Leppard, Led Zeppelin, Guns 'n' Roses, Quiet Riot... ...and a handful of J-Pop songs. (puts on my Nomex coveralls and ducks behind asbestos wall)
  8. Actually, according to the manual I have, that's the only way to enter EDIT mode. The manual says that using the command "EDIT nn" (where nn is whatever line number you want to start at) will return an error. Okay, I was reading the manual at work last night, trying to re-learn the stuff I used to know...
  9. "Beyond Parsec," on the TI. The original was groundbreaking, and did several things that the people who designed the TI's hardware said couldn't be done (such as having speech that didn't bring the program to a halt until the speech was finished). Where "Parsec" was a one-player game, "Beyond Parsec" was designed to be a two-player game, with both players playing at the same time. What should have been an awesome cooperative or competitive version of the original, turned out to to be a sci-fi version of "Biplanes," from Intellivision's "Triple Action." Except that you couldn't fire at any angle except horizontally. Even the graphics, IIRC, aren't as good as the original. "Beyond Parsec" should have been awesome. However, it's slightly less than mediocre. I actually have more fun playing the aforementioned "Biplanes."
  10. It's what I have in mind, as well. I mean, the purpose of making retro games is for people to play them. But for those of us who like to collect things, it's also nice to have a neat little, "one-of-a-kind" item to display. Especially if you can point to it and say, "I made that." ^_^ This way, you get the best of both worlds; you have a game you can share and everyone can play, and then you also have a boxed cartridge you can show off.
  11. No, actually. Your controller seems to be working correctly. If you have "Spy Hunter," try it out on that game. The right button fires your car's machine guns, while the left does nothing. It just depends on the game.
  12. Okay, I was already looking forward to this, and now I find out that there are different effects when cats collide? <crane game alien> Cooooooooooool... </cga>
  13. Nah, I love my Dreamcast! (Not THAT way, you perv! ^_~ )
  14. Is there usually programming on channel 3 or 4 where you live? Usually, you set the RF to whichever channel has less outside signal coming in. Maybe in your area, there's less "noise" on channel 4 (or perhaps the channel switch on your RF converter is set to "4").
  15. Awwwww... But Tails looks so *cute* holding his playing card! *_*
  16. Have you tried a different RF cable? Also, if you can get one of those little adapter plugs that you plug the RF cable into, that plugs into the coax input on the TV, that may help. Those RF switchboxes seem like they never lasted very long, even back in the '80s...
  17. Added some TI games to the 2600 cart gallery. ^_^
  18. Hmm... After seeing what "Legend of Legaia" is going for on eBay, I think I should wait until I save up a little... Apparently it's harder to find than I thought. ^_^'
  19. I used to want to be a TI-99/4A, but now I think I'd rather be a Dreamcast. ^_^
