My luck is usually a little more... vice versa.

  2. is baking the family Christmas cookies :)

  3. I have to make an 850 mile trip tomorrow to PA. My mother was found dead on her porch. I'd been trying to get ahold of her for days, but even their 911 wouldn't answer up there...

Enjoy!   I got a Harmony myself.  One of the  Best things I've ever bought. :)

  7. Just ordered an Unocart for the 2600. My lil' reward for the aggravation of trying to get a roof contract done between 3 states and their idiosyncratic crap.

  8. They say that you play too loud; well baby that's tough.

It's the machines the USPS uses. I am on a CD trading site called swapacd.com, and the labels it prints out says "non-machinable" though I usually ship the CD's in a jewel case just to be safe.

This one was new and still sealed in its' case. Likely the heat down here kept it from breaking entirely.

I found some tips on rescuing warped CDs:

      http://geeklikemetoo.blogspot.com/2013/03/flattening-warped-cd.html

If they're really bent like an U, it might not work, but OTOH someone posted that the polycarbonate wouldn't start melting until 280 F which I strongly hope you're not suffering even in the south.

  13. just scored a spare keyboard for her XEGS, but it needs a new mylar. Easy fix. :)

  14. Got pizza, beer, and just rolled Threshold on C64. Life's good. :)

  15. Picked up Ms Pacman for Genesis today and found it wouldn't work without holding the mode button on 6 button controllers. Might be normal, but new to me, lol

Figures...It's only in recent years that I'm using 6-button pads much. Been babying my last 3 button pads since no one makes any.

    3. GoldLeader

I always thought Ms. Pacman had control issues on Genesis anyway, though I could be misremembering...

    4. zylon

      zylon

up and down wouldn't work unless you pressed really hard. No such issue w/3 button, or holding mode on power up.

  16. has just acquired an UnoCart for her XEGS setup :)

I kind of want an X-EGGS, but with Atari computer prices the way they are, I'd better resist.

I've had 65XE and 130XE's in the past, but have far fewer IC issues with the XEGS version. Far better reliability from the 2-chip RAM package. :) I grew up with C64c, so XE's blend in. ;)

  17. Thank yall for your well wishes. I'll be on my feet soon enough. meanwhile, I'm hanging with my C64. :)

Mostly, I'm sitting in blankets on the floor playing the little shovelware games in clone consoles. Can't drive, or do anything overhead. Took almost an hour to get out of bed and on my feet this morning.

  19. has not drunk the NES Koolaide. :P

I Love me some NES! But to each his/her own. I still remember when I would get lost in the worlds of Faxanadu or Deadly Towers (and Still do!). They were so intriguing and atmospheric at the time and realistic compared to Atari and ColecoVision which had come before. I Loved the music and graphics for the time.

    3. DamonicFury

      DamonicFury

It took me a long time, but I've finally come around on the NES. The cartridge port design is garbage, of course, but it's otherwise well-built. And I totally get disliking the large amount of overly-difficult platformers that the system is largely identified with, but it also has tons of fantastic arcade-style games that most Atari fans can also enjoy.

      Pants are the worst.

I would choose the Atari 7800 over the NES most days, but that's just because it's been a long time since I've handled either one.

  20. Back to watching an RF cable for a console circling Atlanta via tracking. It's been to kennesaw twice and out for delivery, but never delivered. Always returns to sorting center for another fly-by.

USPS is getting ever more goofy. My latest purchase went something like this: Kentucky, Ohio, Iowa, San Francisco, Illinois and finally Wisconsin. San Francisco... WTF?

    2. zylon

What kills me is that it was put on the same truck at same time as other stuff that did get delivered on both days.

^Funny I almost wrote that! That is my Favorite Exodus song! But last time I saw them, they didn't play it live. Also they tend to leave out the cool backing vocals when they play it live for some reason...

In mid-2000, one of my local department stores had an entire pallet of new Sega Genesis 3 consoles on the sales floor, marked on clearance for $11 each. I picked up three of them, and found out at the register that they were actually $9 each. In retrospect, I wish I had filled my car with them.

    3. zylon

Someone loaned me a "3" to compare with the clone and I liked it enough to buy one. :)

    4. zetastrike

The Genesis 3 isn't really a clone thought. It's just consolidated onto an ASIC. And it's an official Sega console.
