  1. Hi guys! I finally got a working Intellivision. Awesome, man. Humblejack came through and for a very reasonable price. Now I'm looking for a few games to complete the "fun" collection. I'm not hugely concerned with boxes and overlays and whatnot. Yes I am fairly ignorant of rarity so feel free to also tell me which games are "Ha ha no way in heck, buddy!". So let's see, I'd like to see about Worm Whomper, Commando, Tower of Doom, Dig Dug, Ice Trek, Fathom, Hover Force, Pole Position, and so help me ZAXXON! Any of those for sale form ya'all fine folks?
  2. Mine was just to get a working Inty. Got one on like the tenth, now I need a new goal.
  3. Well, "rounded corner" rectangles, but still. Apple are just patent trolls.
  4. The reason nobody stole anything from Xerox was because the PARC team and their lawyers didn't feel it would be a defensible patent. It would be like trying to patent, oh I dunno, the concept of a rectangle phone. They were wrong. With enough money and little ethics, you can patent anything. Nowadays it's cheaper to pay off patent trolls (like Apple) than it is to fight it out. Even Samsung settled. Apple, frnakly, are now and always have been what they claimed to fight against in that 1984 ad.
  5. Actually that's a quote from the biography of Steve Jobs. Bill Gates maintains he never even went down to talk to Jobs, (much less said anything like that). There was nothing to discuss, and Bill Gates was too busy working 80-plus hours a week on a patent he had properly licensed to waste time with Apple quibbling about how windows can overlap in a GUI.
  6. Yup. Jobs never had an oriignal idea in his life. From scamming Wozniak repeatedly all the way up to.. you know what? Here's my favorite Steve Jobs quote. “Bill is basically unimaginative and has never invented anything, which is why I think he’s more comfortable now in philanthropy than technology. He just shamelessly ripped off other people’s ideas.” He said that with not a single trace of irony or satire. He genuinely believed that everything he did came from his own mind, when the reality is nothing had. And Apple is STILL pulling this crap, claiming Samsung stole "Rectangle phone" and "icons on a background" from them. Like Samsung invented Android or something. Or that Apple came up icons on a background. Or, apparently, the rectangle. Steve Jobs' legacy marches on and on and on.
  7. One of the greatest things Steve Jobs ever achieved was to convince people that Bill Gates was the backstabbing weasel thief.
  8. It's Intellivision Lives, and there's no way to fix it. Ditto the problems with Tower of Doom and Buzz Bombers. Honestly it's not a great package. Does the job, but not very well.
  9. So, if my wife only let me buy one homebrew every four months, what should my first one be? Not asking you to decide me or anything, this is just for fun, and to help me and others learn more about them.
  10. Woot! Got one at a very reasonable price form Humblejack and it works very well. So... what homebrew should I buy first, guys? I already own DK Arcade.
  11. It's always interesting to see Amstrad and MSX games, because those weren't really a thing in the US. Thanks for this, good work.
  12. Two others PM'd me and then just.. stopped responding. I'll try with you as well!
  13. Wow. what a.. very good homebrew. any others worth checking out that are FB portable compatible?? (and anywhere I can donate to you for this work?)
  14. And for every one person that has happened to, there are hundreds of other folks like me who can;t help but think that MAYBE a few hundred sales might have happened if it weren't so easy to steal. Who know that 18 THOUSAND people to date have stolen your work, and only one came clean. For all the rhetoric pirates talk about how "you weren't getting that sale anyway" and "it's free advertising", all I can see it in terms of is that 17,999 people took my work like they were entitled to have it simply because it exists. Specious arguments and theoretical situations mean nothing to me: MY work was stolen, and for what pirates like to claim is a victim-less activity, I sure feel like I've been victimized. Especially when my work shows up on a "2000 Ebooks CD!" that people are charging others for. You know, like Groovy Bee's issue, only with games instead of literature.
  15. I was never a fan of piracy for currently available content at all, but it really hurts when you see something you created be stolen. Or some asshole hentai artist selling art of YOUR characters without kicking money up to you. Those who claim "piracy never hurt anyone" would change their tune if they saw something of theirs was pirated 18 thousand times and only one sale came out of all that piracy.
  16. Good idea, Rev. Simple presentation, a resource for those woh know what they want and what it is.
  17. When Rev sent me some pencils. That was my Xmas Intellivison memory. I'm not being facetious, that was pretty damn cool. Montana sucked, a lot, and it brought me a smile.
  18. it was actually a function of the fact that an inverter doesn't provide "pure" 60hz sinewave power. A surge protector would do nothing; I'd have needed a power conditioner. By the time I realized what the problem was, I had already murdered several irreplaceable 1610 chips. In my defense... everything else I had ran just fine on the dirty power.
  19. I can make my own retropie, thanks. Want to buy original hardware.
  20. Short version: I used to live on solar power, and it fried.. multiple Intellivisions. i kept my games, though. It was kinda heartbreaking because I basically murdered 5 of an endangered species, but here it is again. I now live in a place with a real power grid. Anyone got an Inty (preferably not an Inty 2 but a man cannot be picky) they'd be willing to sell me?
