Here are what I think are the rarest games by rarity
atari181 replied to homerwannabee's topic in Rarity Guide
Interesting. I think it would be interesting to create a video game index. Sort of like the S&P 500 but based on the going prices for select Atari games. I'd propose choosing 25 or so Atari 2600 games of various rarities and creating one index that represents the basket price of all 25 carts (based on recent sales) and a second index that gives additional weight to the lower rarity carts in order to avoid having the higher rarity carts dominate the value of the index. It would be fun to track and refer back to when people make posts in the future about the prices going way up or way down. Like the inflation index. Sounds like a job for Homer. -

Because I am interested in numbers. I am especially interested in numbers that have some sort of meaning. The reason for being into numbers is because I have an analytical mind, and a mathematical mind to boot. Since I could remember I have always been interested in numbers. When I was 5 years old I was able to multiply, and make change. When I was a kid I would spend hours and hours of my time pouring through a baseball stat book in the library. If you look at what I am into you will see it has everything to do with numbers. Who owns what:Gives a more detailed account of the number of carts out there, makes it so a cart is not counted twice thus making a more accurate number. Rarity. It's on a number scale from 1 to 10. Prices: They are all about numbers. In order to have a price you have to have a number. I love numbers. I really love numbers. It is my life. This is what I do for fun. I even make my own stats up that I can't find on the Internet. Here are a couple of things I have worked on Most hits in 7 years Most hits in 8 years Most hits in 9 years Most hits in 10 years Democrat and Republican party electoral vote history The lowest shut out and competion years in baseball Highest consectutive win years as a coach Odds of winning an NBA championship in relation to wins Record for most TD's in consecutive seasons as a quarterback Cities with the highest murder rate ever. Yes, I actually made stats for all these things. I think at times there is a misunderstanding of why I am fixated on prices. It is not a greed thing as it is a number thing. Edit: One more thing needs to be said. I did not create the registry of rare games guide. Cinncynoti did. I just decided to make it up to date. So keeping track of who owned what was way before I even did that. I for one also loven knowing the actual rarity of games and how much they are worth. i love to play Atari games, but don't always have the time. I love collecting them. Their is nothing like finding a game for $3 at Goodwill and knowing it is worth $50. In college I also loved Statistics and how stats can predict the chance of something happening in the future. Long live the Rarity Guide! -
Sellers put all kinds of stuff up at crazy prices and don't mind if it takes a year to sell it. I have sold 1000's of items on Ebay and have seen lots of different items sold this way. Some sucker buys it and the seller doesn't mind paying listing and relisting fees for a year when they sell their item for 10 to 20 times the items actual worth. I recently saw an Atari 2600 and 20 common games on Craiglist for $1500, OMG I wish it were true, I would be rich.

Damn, Homer, that is pretty harsh even if you are just kidding (which I definitely hope and assume you are). Let's hug it out big guy. Doughnut? Nope, I am not kidding. I guess I am feeling a tad bit down today. Hmm, maybe I should start playing Donkey Kong 3 again. Hate to break it to you there Mr.Galaxian (I promised not to make the mistake again ) but uh several of us here at AA are losers. In fact some people like Cebus and myself don't do anything but sit on AA all day (when we aren't go0gling dirty words and spending money we don't have). At least you play your games My wife calls me a loser for always being on here as well. She says I'm living in the past. I love the past! Unfortunately I don't have the time to play much anymore. AX

I wonder how many newer collectors have these games in thier collection, thinking they got a great deal, Or thinking they have games that are really rare.

I might be wrong, but since he has had it so long, it is capitol gains tax. Which is about 28 percent. So either way the government gets you in the end. Edit: Did some research, and maybe it is lower than that. More like 15 percent or even 10 percent. I think capital gains tax is for over 100G or somewhere around there

Most games that are rare, are rare because they sucked and no one wanted to buy them. Yes Air Raid Sucks! I have a few R8 and R9's and they pretty much all suck except Crazy Climber.

If you are looking for a Master System the "Best Way" is on craiglist or at Goodwill. It may take longer but, you can get them for 10 or 20 dollars below what you will pay on Ebay. If you want one right now Ebay is the easiest but most expensive. As said before you can list it here as a "Wanted" item but may take a little longer than Ebay. I am also new here but you are much more apt to get a good working order system at a fair price here than Ebay for sure.

I don't recall where but read recently that the new consoles are definately "fixed" and failure rates are very low. When you send back a 360 that has failed it is fixed and sent back to you. The reason that the failure rate is so high on the "fixed" 360's is that they are replacing the failed board with not the new board with the low fail rate, but with the old boards that they have so many of because they are no longer used in producion. I have many friends who have sent back consoles multple times only to fail again. I bought mine about 6 months ago and have had no problems.

Welcome, You will finds lots of suggestions on what to collect or play, here in the threads. The Master system was a great system for the time and the games are generally reasonably priced.

What is your favourite game format?
atari181 replied to Pyromaniac605's topic in Classic Console Discussion
DVDS and CDs can hold so much more infor but are so fragile, scratch easily, I once broke an Xbox game trying to get it off the little wheel in the gamecase. -
Luckily I haven't had any problems with mine. If you are interested here is a video on how to fix it yourself. http://videoclips.optempo.com/xbox-360-red-ring-of-death-fix-video/ Youtube also has some vids on it as well

When I was In grade school , (like 6th grade) we(School) had a Franklin Ace 1000. Whenever I had the chance to use it, we would play a game called Superquest. It was a RPG type game based in a maze, Using experience to level up or get better. You and the monsters were depicted as a capital letter:EX a Dragon would be a capital D. If I remember correct your weopans were, Iron quarrells,Magic quarrels and Tanning Powder(for the Imps). Anyone know where I can get the game? Anyone remmeber it? I had many hours of fun around 1985 playing this game.

yeah 465 sound bout right, Lots of knock offs and hacks, total variations for collecting, I would say is about 2 to 3 thousand games variations and label variations.
-
That letter may be worth as much as the air raid box, Find the letter!
-
Not much info in the article, although 1500 sounds about right for the game and box in 2001.
-
The game was not boxed for years, the game and box were stored separately

I'm addicted to this thread. I hope the shakes won't be too bad when this is all over. I never said whether I thought it was real or hoax, but I did go out to eBay on the 1st and vote with my wallet about $1500 ago. Only problem I have bidding to win this centerpiece is that Sping is here, and I could use a speed boat, new convertible, or maybe a lake home. True enough, but here is something to ponder. There are a ton of speed boats, convertibles, and lake homes. They will always be available to buy. This on the other hand will not. Wish tanner couldn't spell atari and spelled it "atrai" I am willing to put up like 3G's for this. For the record I am by far not a rich man and would definately do so.

Tanner, Take a chill pill, you are about to make a TON of cash, and hopefully will be a memeber of AA of a long time.

Wow! I really don't think that anyone is questioning your integrity. I also don't believe anyone is "running you off" in any way. It is a discussion about an item that up till now has never been seen before by any of us. No one was even sure it existed. You must understand why any of us would be skeptical. I wasn't at all untill I read last years practical joke(search Pacman Jr 7800) I really don't believe that anyone is being hateful or mean. Again I will say Good luck
-
I am still a Noob here and knew nothing of the Pac Man Jr for 7800 escapade from last year, I just read through the old thread. I now believe this definately could be some BS from Albert, after reading some history. Albert you will forever be known as "The boy who cried wolf" I hope this is real, but now I am at 50/50. Either way I want a Repro box like that one.
