  1. fyi I compiled a version of platoterm that connects to cyber1 rather than irata.. it's here: http://ftp.whtech.com/TIPI/PLATOC and http://ftp.whtech.com/TIPI/PLATOD you can load on the 4a with PI.http://ftp.whtech.com/TIPI/PLATOC
  2. call tipi("PI.http://ti99.irata.online/PLATO") works.. and my instructions also work when i test with classic99
  3. doesn't matter what drive number you set it too, only matters its the last thing on the cable
  4. I want to say it needs to be at the end of both cables try just one and see what happens, if you get issues .. add the other
  5. yes it works but i recommend you not use the stock firmware get flashfloppy
  6. all 3.5" drives are either hard wired to DSK2. or are jumperable 1 or 2.. you can use a special hand made cable or switch838's switchbox to set the drive number manually on the cable. you can use either a 800k or 1.44 drive in 800k mode but you will only get 40 track/dsdd off either of them.. if you are using HD disks on the 1.44 cover the hd hole with opaque tape so it switches to DS/DD mode.. these are both 80 track drives flashfloppy flashed gotek just uses dsk files on a fat32 disk, should be just as easy as a pc on a mac I have preflashed modded goteks in stock if you need one or all the info is at flashfloppy's github https://github.com/keirf/flashfloppy
  7. If you can't check the roms with easybug due to it locking up, you may want to pull them and check with an eprom reader/burner I have a replacement rom solution using a modern chip and an adapter of my design
  8. I would like a dump.. if it's a rom cart that's pretty easy to do, esp if you have a tipi lmk if you have one and can dump it
  9. not entirely sure but he had some serious quality issues in the end, I personally sent back 3-4 to be fixed Greg
  10. shotgunning is the act of replacing all the parts in hope to 'hit the problem' with at least one of them.. that's what a lot of people do with replacing capacitors in a machine, instead of finding the 'bad ones' they just do them all.
  11. Probably best to not suggest the nano as you can't buy them anymore
  12. i have a miniwriter iii cart and it supports cassette and console only again..never used it also it has a built in parallel port that I don't have the cable for
  13. the standard for word processing on the 4/a is tiwriter and its clones.. all require disk and 32k.. there were wordwriter carts that would save to cassette I believe, never used it though so can't say if it works ok..
  14. yeah that's a little much for untested and no ps.. what's a tested one with a ps worth to you?:) just curious
  15. Not "easily fixed" what I've found is the 74ls245 goes bad due to the power issue.. it sacrifices itself to protect the rest.. try shotgunning that and/or the 244 and see if that helps another thing is to boot up with the card disabled (no switch? might not be able too) and then enable it in easy bug with the cru bit and then see if you can read the roms in memory location 4000
  16. likely it's an older version.. sorry wasn't watching this subforum If you want it upgraded you can send it in and I'll do it for you for postage otherwise it's pretty easy to flash with a usb cable and the ide or linux Greg
  17. faq.. ftp.whtech.com/cartridges/finalgrom99
