Intellivision HSC Season 16 - Game 14 - Lock 'N' Chase
cparsley replied to Rickster8's topic in Intellivision High Score Club
I think I can answer that... No matter what pattern(s) you may come up with there are too many variables that can epically fudge it up. Your favorite green doors can definitely come into a play changing your pattern due to a cop or the player not being able to move freely when they otherwise would. Also doing anything new for the first time definitely usually will degrade what you normally do until you adjust. I haven't yet thought of changing my play yet, might give it a few gos in the overnight. -

just finished watching the video someone posted and other than a few errant doors or mistakes, game has GOT to recognize game... I will admit, NONE of my patterns are the ones this guy uses, but it does got my mind racing at the moment looking at LNC a way I haven't before. Also realizing my focus on the bank strategy might not be the best play in the end game, as all four banks is 500+1000+2000+4000=7500 while all three keys is 9,000 (level before the heart), all 3 Bobbie Pins is 6,000 (last slow level), and just 2 of the 3 hearts is 10k. Also, during the first heart level, you hear the "BONUS" whistle go off. No it's NOT getting a new (free) life, but the triggering on the hard/expert mode being thrown in game. If you are to start a new game without resetting the console, your previous patterns will NOT work on the "expert mode" triggering. -

I do not believe any of us live in Japan, so the both sides entrance still applies lol Also the Japanese Intellivision version of Lock 'n Chase does have our setup not that one... It does however, work a little more into the reworked intv grid, making a dead zone below the bank pen while the intv does it with the long corridors to the left/right of the bank. -

This is patently false.... Arcade Lock 'n Chase does allow vault access from the bottom as well as the top, just like the INTV. The only major difference is the INTV maze is redesigned a little due to the lower resolution compared to arcade. Proof of such is here in this youtube video... (Not my playing) lol https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sJiySPAqaJk -

Just find it funny people laugh about a challenge in their games... Poor kids.... We had our games hard.... Nintendo Hard... VCS/INTV HARRRRD!!! Something like Vectron, LNC, etc would not be made today because of people whining about it being too hard. The doors were added by Data East in the arcade out of necessity for two reasons. One, they wanted more of a difficulty challenge, and two, they HAD TO differentiate the game from Pac-Man, lest be sued by the asshats that is Atari Inc. -

Wait you want the game to cheat and not catch you when the cops get ya??? Also, play LNC like one would play Pac-Man.. You control for where you WANT to go not where you are right then. If you select your next choice while in a tunnel like Pac-Man Rupin immediately makes his mark. -

I cant believe all the hate on an awesome game. There are TWO different control schemes as they set up different schemes halfway thru the game production run. One will allow the Lupin to stop mid way in the top pathways, while the later revision will NOT. The easiest way to tell is if you got 2 lines of Copywrite or not on the title screen and a collapsing Lupin on dying or not. -

Intellivision HSC Season 16 - Game 13 - Vectron
cparsley replied to Rickster8's topic in Intellivision High Score Club
Ah sorry I didn't elaborate... Normal Vectron play (single player) keeps everything moving and therefore if an enemy is right where your EB forms, you can lose another life right from the off. Playing Vectron 2 player forces the game to flip back and forth and the way it does that is while keeping the timers as they were (aka how long you've had the red bats before they'll be on yellow for rest of the set) but everything else resets to start point one. (aka you start without any enemies on screen at each new life) For some this may be the saving grace they need. However there is a downside to this as well. You have to start your energy collecting from scratch as well, as single player mode keeps everything going so u could shoot and have a energy pile just ready to hit your EB when it forms up, and especially if it's the nice lovely Dark Orange can be a big help. So it's not a absolute perfect save, but it does amount to a different Vectron experience. -

@Rickster8 The yellow spiders as you refer to follow the normal red/yellow color scheme.. Red you can survive but yellow haha one touch you are toasted!!! One question, what do you think about the 2nd player advantage play? (It's a little of a misnomer, but for some could be a live saver) -

While I won't be able to participate due to emu not being able to do all 16 directions of the disc (AND VECTRON Demands that you can hit for instance SES)... a few hints for my childhood as I also had Vectron but LOVED it... First, the BEB (Bonus Energy Blocks) become vital (every 4th space station completed)... Also while you speak of free move, there are some enemy types in which that will kill you virtually instantly, and also make it next to impossible to recognize what piece of the Space Station you are missing to move on. The lock mode will only let you move once the block your on is filled and will let you fling yourself in other direction UNTIL you come to another section that is incomplete, locking you back in. On some later 9+ boards, I find switching back and forth between the two methods to work quite nicely, as the enemies there will if they stay with your EB (Energy Block) for more than about 2 1/2 seconds vaporize it, even with a full power (Dark Orange) Energy pill in it. (Most early enemies you are rather safe from the enemies while you have that dark orange energy pulsating in your block, not so for light orange, grey or ewww brown (aka worthless) but dont let it take forever to fly out, smash it, let it get to the bottom so the next will occur. The first 3 boards, the hey everyone's used this type of alien fighter archotype, is mostly just a pain in the neck, remaining RED if you don't take too long. That RED variant will only tear away on the space station and not hurt/kill you. Yellow on the other hand (and you will get a hint she's coming by the sphere (that u can not shoot) turning from Red to Yellow first, will vaporize your EB unless you have that before mentioned Dark Orange Energy inside. Then it's as harmless as the Red cousin. Good luck -

Me I gotta go over to FrogBog to get at least a participation point as that was one of the few INTV games I did NOT have as a kid (way better on ones I did have normally) like LNC, BT, Pinball, Tarmin etc
