I've never had that problem. It just goes on like before.
So that's not a good thing? Ive had games do this before but not after a roll over. I would just turn the unit off and clean the carts and the problem seemed to resolve it's self. You dont think it could be the console going bad do you?

So I decided that I wanted to break my hand(roll over the score in asteroids). I made it to 99,999 and it started all over again. But the weird thing is that it switch from a color picture to black and white and there was a lot of static interferance on screen, I made it another 34,660 points before one of those stupid little ufo's got me. Is this normal, I'm asking because ive never rolled over the score on a atari before. I'm definatly tracking down a sega genesis controller though. I have a blister in my palm and my wrist is screaming!

maybe they thought we were just clumsy foreigners and would either lose or break smaller cartridges, and i agree on nes and if this image which i just found is real then it just illustrates your point perfectly

Now that's a sweet looking videogame console! Perfect for travel. I think I need me one of those!

Do you have the older 3/4 polaroid? I got that set and love it....I don't think Polaroid makes TV's anymore though, or I haven't seen any in a while.
IMO, the Flashback is a bit on the dark side for most stuff....I can only assume that a moded 2600 will have the same problem. I do play mine through antenna though just fine....but then, mine's not moded either.
I dont know. I bought my Polaroid two years ago. It's a 15.4 inch HD widescreen lCD tv, model number TLA-0511C. I beleve that they had alot of problems with them, display would go out, some of the imputs would malfunction. I dont think they make them any more. Frankly I dont see any Polaroid tv's anymore ether. lucky I have never had any problems with mine. I'd be pissed if it brooke after two years. For $230 I better get my money's worth! My four switch is unmodded and played through the antenna with one of those rca to coax push on connectors. small, good picture and cheap.

My old TV was on the blink and so I needed a new TV in the 20" range. I checked local Goodwill first but they wanted too much for TVs:
about $100 for older TV that has only 300 ohms input
about $150 for TV that comes with remote controller
I figured if I was going to pay that much, I might as well get a NEW one with warranty, and that is returnable (unlike Goodwill's no return on electronics) I ended up with a Sylvana 22" for $230 and so far it does well with some older game consoles but it isn't friendly with Atari 2600. (I originally tried a Phillips 22", it was worst with Gamecube and N64 not displaying proper color at all on composite!!!)
With Sylvana TV I got, I am able to use RF out of my SMS (I misplaced my AV cable again
) but 3D support doesn't work. That is expected with LCD monitor and really, the only game I like to play in 3D is Space Harrier so I could live without it. No light guns either but no game I play frequently needs it.My 2600 Vader that is AV modded, which worked fine with my old TV, shows horrible ghosting on a few games and no picture on most games
It is likely the output is not quite to proper standard and is being rejected by my TV. That is expected as AV mods are really hacks that aren't FCC approved or regulated. If I connected the 2600 via RF cable, and switch to analog ch 3 (tried 2 as well, same thing), I can never get any signal. If I do it through my old VCR, it works fine with most games so it seems 2600's output it a bit weak and below standard level. I have tried another 2600 console with no AV mod and it's pretty much the same thing. I didn't want to keep the VCR around just for the 2600 so I need another option.
What can be done to get 2600 to play nice with newer TVs? Flashback 2.0 doesn't work with all games, particularly my favorite Pitfall 2, so modded FB2 is out.
Try switching your tv from analog to air. Thats what I had to do with my 15inch polaroid flatscreen HDtv. I know that It may not make sense and it may not work but hey it doesnt hurt to try.

Also a while back I replaced my rf cord with a old cheap dvd player one. My atari is a four switch so to make it fit into the jack I had to trim of some excess plastic on the end of the cord and shorten the center prong. Is there a better way to go about this? Im kind of afraid that I might damage the board or casing because I had to put a lot of pressure on it to screw it back together tight. The case also has some play on the right side and there is a slight bump that I can feel inthe middle where the cord plugs into the jack. My old cord was starting to make color turn into black and white and there was a lot of static interferance and flickering. Picture quality is much better now but im afraid that I might break something.

Frogger looks ok as a screensaver but I really like Defender my self. I love the ship flying around and the aliens trying to shoot it. I doesnt look the best but definitely not the worst, and it keeps changing colors which hopefully wont burn a image into your tv.

I love it with my ps3, but I just does not look right for my atari. My NES looks ok, but it still looks better on a CRT too. The blacks do not bother my as bad as the other colors like reds, blues, yellows, greens and browns.

Did you check to make sure that the cable is installed correctly inside the atari?

This was a problem I ran into in the 90's. I had to try 3 or 4 different copies to find one that worked right. Sometimes one that flips on one system will work fine on another. Try it on a 6er.
All I have is my dad's old four switch woody. but I think omegamatrix is correct I think it is a PAL version. although it is not labeled that and I thought all PAL atari games were labeled PAL or would have a big P on the label.

I have a copy of StarMaster that looks good and plays fine exept it acts like there is no vertical hold. The picture keeps scrolling. Ive cleaned the contacts and this is the only game that has this problem, is there a possablity this is a pal version.

Seems a little redudant to me. I kind of takes away from the classic feel of the games. And I could not possibly think of doing anything to the case on my Atari. That and my dad says that I'm still borrowing it from him.

Hi new to the forum but this looked like the top notch place for all things atari. I have my dad's old four switch woody hooked up to my 15inch polaroid LCD HD tv and love it. For grins and giggles I hooked it up to a slightly smaller old CRT tv. I was amazed to find that the color looked so much better! The hues are amazing, but objects are not as sharp and there is more screen flickering. On my polaroid it is much more sharp and sreen flicker is reduced but the colors are all washed out. Is there a way to improve this? Ive tried fiddleing with my tv's settings but nothing seems to change. I guess Atari's just need to be played on a older set.
