That's strange.. now I can't either.. I'll try to have the problem fixed today. There's one on my site for 2600, CV, Inty and SMS stuff. The problem is, for those systems I generally need only ER's and UR's and the like. You can check it out if you'd like at: http://merctech.20megsfree.com (hopefully that works!) Here's a list of stuff I'm interested in: 1. CIB Odyssey2 games that I don't have (which is most of them) 2. Brand New/Shrinkwrapped video games (any system) 3. CIB post-1990 video games (Genesis, TG-16, SNES, 3DO, Saturn, etc.) I'm just starting to collect this stuff, so chances are I'll need it. 4. 8-bit computer carts (C64, Atari 800, etc.) 5. NES games (I hope to have my wantlist for these done in a week or so) 6. 7800 games 7. 2600/CV/Inty games. I generally need ER/UR games, so I can't imagine anyone will offer me anything I need there. It doesn't matter to me either way.. most of the games I already have multiple loose copies of the game already available, so if someone wants a loose copy of the game, chances are I have it. Yep.. it is. It is in fact the Zellers cart. The problem is, I'm not looking to get boxed games in return.. I've got a couple hundred of them, and nowhere to store them. Do you have anything else to trade? I'm sure we can work things out. Hopefully I can get the Pete Rose and Titlematch to someone who *really* needs them, because I've already got 4 messages about them (I posted this ad on here, DP, and GameTZ).. I may have multiple copies of the game, tho, so hopefully everyone can get something they'd like. Cheers, KA

Here's the list of games I have so far... all games are complete in the box, and pictures of all of them are available on my website at: http://merctech.20megsfree.com/boxedgames/ Asteroids Boxing California Games Crystal Castles Decathlon Defender Frogger Ice Hockey Kaboom Missile Command Pac Man Q*Bert Skiing Sky Jinks Space Adventure Tomcat F-14 Video Pinball Winter Games Yars And New In Box/Shrinkwrapped: Pete Rose Baseball Titlematch Wrestling So feel free to make either trade or cash offers. Anything that isn't traded/sold by the 15th will be eBayed. I'll be adding more games in the next week or so. Cheers, KA

It's a terrific early 80's computer. It takes carts, and there's a whackload of good games for it. The Atarisoft games tend to be really good, and much more fun than the 2600 versions. I have Moon Patrol and Donkey Kong.. and maybe a couple more. The only downside is that the joysticks aren't Atari compatible.. so you either have to get TI joysticks or an adaptor. I got my WICO adapter for $4 on eBay. KA

I totally agree.. there's a bunch of C64 ports on the 800XL which sound just horrid. It makes the comparison somewhat unfair.. but then again, what's really important is the quality of the software for the system.. not how impressive the specs are. The problem with any of these discussions is that everyone always defends the system they had as a kid, and just looks for points in that systems favor. Nobody tends to be totally objective about it.. myself included. I had a C128 as a kid, so I tend to go on the Commodore side of these discussions. What really impresses me about the Atari 8-bit line is how ahead of its time it was. The 400 and the 800 were more impressive machines than a lot of computers that came out 3-5 years after it. I really like the Vic-20, but the 400 and 800 blows it out of the water. I just recently bought an Atari ST.. it's kinda fun, tho I don't have much software for it, and the monochrome monitor is kinda lame. Anyone have any recommendations? KA

To be honest, I'm really surprised there aren't any enterprising engineering students who aren't already offering modded 7800's (or 2600's) for sale. I figure you could charge $79.99 or even $99.99 for a modded system with 2 joysticks and probably sell a couple dozen of them. Of course, depending on how much the parts cost and how much labor is involved, it may or may not be a wise move. Or you can always do what I do.. play 2600 games via Coleco Adam, which has composite output. KA

Ladies n Gents - the winner - "Nice Picture,IDIOT!"
King Asmo replied to tiggerthehun's topic in Auction Central
I have one like that.. this WWF digital camera that I found at KB Toys for like $7.99 or so. It's fun to play around with at the office, but the pictures all come out looking like ink blots. KA -
The one thing the C64 had going for it was SID. I think that was the huge advantage it had over the Atari 8-bit line. KA

For the uninformed, who is Dave Aker? The only Aker I know of is the 1970's baseball relief pitcher Jack Aker. I suppose it would be interesting to have Atari games which were formerly owned by major league athletes. Next time I'm at an Expos game, maybe I'll get Frank Robinson to sign my Combat cart. KA

I can recall seeing 4 or 5 of the darker box color, but this is the first orange box I ever remember seeing. I'm not much of a boxed game collector, tho, so I may have seen more and not really thought anything of it. Cheers, KA

No problem.. if you could send me a wantlist sometime, that would be great. I'll work on making a list of what I have in the next few days. Do you have a tradelist? KA
-
I think it's more due to the fact that a constant barrage of XBOX posts aren't particularly relevant to a classic gaming website. Do you also go to classic car websites and tell them how much you love the Chrysler Sebring? KA

I wonder how many different box variations there are like this.. I've had quite a few of the 5-language boxes from Canada.. I generally don't pay attention to them. KA
-
Nah.. the two box colors are *dramatically* different. I just noticed a major difference as well.. one box is English only, whereas the other one is the 5-language variety. KA

I just picked up a NIB copy of Warlords today.. the odd thing is, all the other ones I've seen/owned have been this Mustard Yellow/Dark Gold kinda color, whereas the one I got today was bright orange (kinda like the box for Star Raiders). Did 2600 often come in different colors, and are there other Warlords boxes (blue, green, etc?) KA

I have for trade about 200 different boxed 2600 games... mostly C's and U's. It's going to take me a few days to get a list together, but in the meantime, I was wondering if anyone had a wantlist of boxed games they're looking for. Cheers, KA

Looking for Smurfs, Gargamel's Castle
King Asmo replied to General Atarian's topic in Buy, Sell, and Trade
I think I have an extra copy at home.. unfortunately I'm not going to be at home until Tuesday, but if you are still looking for one then, please let me know. If you'd like to trade.. well.. I don't need that much Atari stuff, but if you've got any 8-bit computer carts or Odyssey2 games, I'll probably need them. Cheers, KA -
Gyruss did have an 8 way joystick, not a spinner (I have to admit, I looked it up.. I haven't played the arcade version since '86 or so). Check: http://www.klov.com/G/Gyruss.html It would be cool with a spinner. Well, it would probably just make it even more like Tempest than it already is. KA

The 5200 was never officially released in Canada (although some specialty stores did import units & games from the States), so that's why you never see it up here. I've only seen 1 unit and about 8 games in the last 5 years in Canada. In that time I've probably seen 500 2600 consoles and bought half of them. That's why Coleco stuff seems to be a lot easier to find in Canada.. since it wasn't competing with the 5200, it was able to grab a larger market share. KA

Thanks for letting everyone know what happened Tim.. I didn't think you'd show up. KA

Yeah.. I think the price is high.. I was getting that much for 50 carts in Jan/Feb but the price has gone down significantly since then. Out of the 18 or so Buy It Now auctions I had running, only 2 didn't get sold, so generally the prices are okay. I have no huge desire to sell those NES carts anyway.. I'd much rather trade them for other NES carts I need.. but I figured I'd try to get a good price. Wow.. 83 joysticks for 10 cents. Oh well. That's 10 times more than I was getting this morning. KA

Check out my joystick auction at: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...item=1362131790 If you're in the Toronto area, you can just pick them all up from my girlfriend's loft. KA

So does anyone want to start to put together an International "Heavy Hitters" group to try and figure out a) the rarity of each cart and b) prove which company made which cart. I'd really like to see a group which could help the Al's start to fill in the large holes in the database. I figure you'd need 5-10 people to make this work and get reasonable estimates of what the rarities should be. The first two obvious choices would be Ianoid and Marco. If we're having trouble finding people, I'd be more than willing to join as well. The problem is, I only have maybe 120 different foreign carts, and I figure 40 or so of those I got from Ianoid. KA

I can sell you one for less than that.. if I can find one (I still have to check). I just sold Zelda I and Zelda II + Shipping for $12.99 on eBay (that was on the weekend). Maybe I should be raising my prices.

Yet Another Snider-Man Newbie Mystery Giveaway Contest!!!
King Asmo replied to Snider-man's topic in Contests
Although I'm not eligible, I'm guessing this game is a sequel to another game. -
I think I've got an extra one lying around (I'll have to check, tho.. I'm at work right now). Do you have any spare NES carts.. maybe we can make a trade? Cheers, KA
