Not that anybody is following anymore, but this just showed up on rec.games.video.classic: ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Date: Sun, 23 Jun 2002 18:34:35 -0700 From: Mark <mdeolive@direct.ca> Newsgroups: rec.games.video.classic Subject: Re: user NESDESTROYER on eBay Parts/Attachments: 1 OK 26 lines Text 2 Shown 23 lines Text ---------------------------------------- [ Part 1, Text/PLAIN 26 lines. ] [ Not Shown. Use the "V" command to view or save this part. ] He's been ripping off ebay users for several months now. I bought two supposed factory sealed NES games off him and when I recieved them, it was clear that they were previously used and he had re-sealed them. When I left him negative feedback, he filed non paying bidder reports agianst me out of retaliation. Luckily I got the reports cleared off my record because I had proof that I paid him. You have to be careful because he has had several ebay user id's: immortalseller i_am_a_real_american_fight_for_the_rights_of_every_man kakrotto mafiadonn avatarforever ...and many others -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I *really* wish I had known about this months ago. I think the eBay classic gaming community should try to inform people when they do have problems with bidders/sellers, since informing people can save a whole lot of headaches. I'm not really out much.. just a few bucks.. no big deal. I just want to make sure this kid doesn't go back to *really* scamming people. KA

Well, it looks like this joker did get kicked off, but the negatives still remain. I'm generally one of eBay's most ardent defenders, but they really need to change some of their policies. KA

Ranger: I really appreciate the effort, but I'll be filing in Toronto, ON, so it'd be difficult to bring someone in from Florida. First of all I want to find out if this guy is a minor, coz through a little research I found out that he lives with his father. I'm going to spend the $20, file in small claims court, either against him or against his Dad (again, depending on what I learn). I'm sure I'll never collect, but it'll be fun messing up their credit rating, plus it will make it impossible for them to enter Canada without paying. KA

They don't generally let unregistered users bid. Here's what I found out from eBay: If you see the words, “Not a Registered User” next to an eBay member’s User ID, this means that this person unregistered from eBay after the listing closed. Because only registered eBay members can participate on eBay, you are not obligated to buy or sell from this person. So I guess he was registered when he bid. Still, tho... eBay really should do something about their security. KA

Apparently he's been doing this for awhile. I got this from the Traderlist site: Date: Sunday, January 13, 2002 Time: 7:21 PM EST Submitted by: Masao Aoto Email address: maoto69@yahoo.com Remote Addr: 172.183.48.59 Subject: hogan2499@yahoo.com traders_name: Alex Badalamenti Comments: dead email: LordHulkHogan@ aol.com Alex Badalamenti Philadelphia PA 19148 the person fraund on me to steal my Brand new sealed condition Nintendo Dragon Warrior III. We have trade sealed condition game each other but he send me fake selaed games that is appear to be Used condiotion. I have contacted my lawer but it's cost me too much so I have reported on several govament site. If you are collecting games Please beware this person.

I just looked it up, and apparently he's bid on about $5000 of stuff just today.. and that doesn't count all the fake ID's he's been using in the past months. KA

I hope eBay does something about this guy, but given their track record, I doubt it will happen. His *real* info is: Alex Badalamenti 1214 Morris Street Philadelphia PA 19148 215-389-8653 I'm going to either file charges, or have him taken to small claims court later in the week, once I get enough information. KA

I can't get into too many details now, but anyone who sells on eBay, you should considering blocking: nesdestroyer from your auctions. He bids on all auctions with Buy It Nows, then leaves negative feedback for the user. I then called up the person "nesdestroyer" claims to be.. it turns out that nesdestroyer is using false information and trying to harass the person he used the information of. So please, PLEASE stay away from this member. I'll report more later. Cheers, KA

I'm always looking for Master System games from the UK, but I'm not sure what you'd want in return. I don't have a baby, but I do have 2 dogs and a cat. KA

ColecoVision Space Invaders status...
King Asmo replied to opcode's topic in Classic Console Discussion
You're probably right. I suppose it depends which way the numbers run. If it's about $1500 for the mold, and $.50 per cart after that, then it probably would pay for itself in no time at all. If it's closer to $5000 and $1.00 per, then I'd begin to wonder. At any rate, I'd love to find out how the numbers run if somebody does find out. KA -
... You are in a maze of twisty passages.. all alike.. and all made out of combat carts. KA

50 cents or a $1.00 isn't bad.. except you have to pay for the mold. Say it does only cost you $.50 each. But how much is the mold going to cost.. $2500? Then you have to produce 2500 games just to get the per-unit cost down to $1.50. Seems expensive to me. I think what really needs to be done is somebody coming up with a really fast, really cheap way to get the labels off without a whole lot of effort. Some sort of chemical bath, maybe? KA Hot pink or snot green cases would be funky, tho. -

50 cents is still rather expensive, when you consider you can probably buy bulk Combat carts for $30.00 per 100. KA -

I wonder what the per-case price of the cart shells is going to be? Will it really be that much more economical to use new cases? I'd be interesting in finding out the numbers. KA -

I'd be willing to trade 50 common Colecovision carts for one copy of a homebrew Colecovision game. I'm sure there are others who'd be even more generous (my darn Scottish upbringing ) KA -
Reminds me of that Flying Circus episode... MY DOG HAS NO NOSE! HOW DOES IT SMELL? etc. KA

I think we could go a *long* way here if people would stop dismissing other people's collecting preferences as "silly". KA

This week's finds for $25 dollars.
King Asmo replied to atarimastermarty's topic in Classic Console Discussion
The two TI controllers are harder to find than the TI computer (I've got about 4 computers, and *no* controllers). Although the TI uses a 9-pin joystick port, it isn't compatible with Atari joysticks.. so you either have to get TI joysticks or a WICO adapter (I chose the latter). All in all, not a bad find. You didn't get a *super* deal or anything, but I'd say you didn't overpay. The TI has a ton of great cartridge games.. Donkey Kong and Moon Patrol are terrific for that system. KA -
You could always just disable the lockout chip.. it's not that hard to do. A properly modded front-loader beats a top-loader any day of the week. KA

Unless the game has some interesting story attached to it, is very popular, or unbelievably rare, NES games don't sell for more than $10. Trolls on Treasure Island is an insanely rare game, yet I've *never* seen it fetch more than $15 on eBay. The NES market is really strange.. it's not like the Atari one, where rarity is generally a good proxy for price. KA

What are you using for the cartridge shells? Are you cannibalizing old Donkey Kong carts, or are you making your own? I'm looking forward to seeing your new game.. I'm a HUGE Colecovision fan. Cheers, KA -
The really ironic thing about this thread is, the only card I'm missing for my O-Pee-Chee 1978-1979 hockey card set is the Mike Bossy rookie card. Odd. KA

If you're interested in trading Atari 400/800 carts for 2600, Coleco or Intellivision carts, let me know.. there's some there I could use. Cheers, KA

I agree that a definition which evolves over time is neccessary. Nobody would argue that a '58 Chevy isn't a classic coz the Model T came out 40 years before it. But in, say, 1966 or so, I'm sure the Model T would have been considered a classic car, and the Chevy wouldn't have been. KA
