  1. I don't understand The VecVoice, VecVox and AtariVox all have / had an onboard volume pot Did you get it direct from me ?
  2. Games need to be coded, or existing games hacked to make use of the EEPROM The AtariVox comes as a buiilt PCB (with cable) It's based on the SpeakJet chip, so you'll get an idea of what the AtariVox can do by reading the datasheet - http://www.magnevation.com/pdfs/speakjetusermanual.pdf
  3. They're ready now I spent the weekend building a small stockpile of them
  4. Whilst primarily used for speech, my SpeakJet-based AtariVox board (for 7800 and 2600) can also do sound. Check out the data sheet for the SpeakJet chip - http://www.magnevation.com/pdfs/speakjetusermanual.pdf It's quite similar to the AY-3-8910
  5. For anyone wanting an AtariVox, I will have them ready to ship by the end of this week. I'll also put the ordering details on my page at - www.vectrex.biz/new_page_5.htm Thanks... (Programmers - AtariVox to PC interface coming soon)
  6. Yes, for 200 years (according to the EEPROM's datasheet)
  7. Yep - sure did You did a great job One of these days, Mark is going to start making them. He's just waiting for the demand to be high enough - it never was a popular game
  8. That's AnimAction, Art Master never contained extra RAM
  9. I fixed Nico's timer, there really wasn't much to it. It consisted of all easy to get components, nothing obsolete / custom. The PCB could be replicated very easily. Infact, if someone wants to send me theirs to study, I could get some made. It'd be cool if somone started making repro Mini-Cades in a kit form or something
  10. We've decided the on-board EEPROM is going to be 32K, doesn't sound a lot, but's it's massive as far as game-saves go. Just seen the first AtariVox enabled game beta today
  11. Wasn't that going to be voice recognition unit ?
  12. You'll be looking at $50 shipped, the SpeakJet chips are currently quite expensive at $25 each
  13. I've tested the proto board and it works perfectly, so this is the finished design for the AtariVox - (The EEPROM is in a socket for future expansion) I'm getting the main batch of boards made up soon, so I need a rough idea of how many of you will be wanting one ? Thanks...
  14. Yes, THE home version of Asteroids and my second favourite game. It's just such an intense, 'fire button buster' of a game, I it
  15. Because it makes a cool game cooler  My favourite Vec game is still John D's Birds of Prey. BTW Vectrex Thrust is officially released this month, check out the demo it is truly awesome - www.eldean.se/vectrex/
  16. Just a quick update - We've got the game save EEPROM working + I've sent in the PCB prototype layouts, which'll be back by the end of next week. I'll then check it over, and if it's OK put in the main order of boards. I'll put a post here when I have them ready to ship.
  17. Hi, I'm after a ready-built video mod to improve the picture on my 7800 (PAL). Anyone sell these ? Thanks...
  18. There's a small, low power amp on-board so you can use either active or small passive speakers. I went with a mono-wired, 3.5mm stereo jack socket as it seems to be a common connector for headphones, PC speaker etc Yes, I'm sure it's possible to feed the output of the board in The board has a volume pot on it Yeah me too ! I really hope programmers make use of it
  19. It does need a couple of pull-up resistors on the SDA & SCL lines But still, that's only 3 components and a plug www.herbs64.com
  20. 2 weeks to get a proto made + 2 weeks to get the main batch made 4 / 5 weeks max Alex is doing the software driver stuff so you'd have to ask him. It's a serial 12C EEPROM which, AFAIK, go up to 32KB in size.
  21. The circuits are too different + the AtariVox will have some on-board EEPROM for games saves etc You're correct Rob There's aready one game in the pipeline
  22. Like on the VecVox, the programmer will have full access to all the SpeakJet's speech / sound synth. Did you check out the synth sound on the SpeakJet page ? It's sounds straight out of a 50's sci-fi movie Also, take a look at the SpeakJet utility, it's got some cool features - http://www.lynxmotion.com/images/files/phraseal.zip
