So I'm thinking, they film this show 6 months in advance (during the summer), and if they ever find anything it'll make news somewhere before the show can be aired. Therefore, you already know going into a new season that they didn't find anything.

Yep - that's part of the problem with a show like this. If they ever did find an actual treasure, what would likely happen is History would rush out a special episode to capitalize on it as soon as possible. They probably have some sort of contingency plan to do just that.

I think the island still has some interesting, untold history to it. That's what keeps me watching. I'm highly skeptical of there being some vast treasure though. (But not so skeptical that I'd stop watching.  )

I Do wish them the Best,  But yeah, they'd have to find the gold (maybe someday), keep it a secret (difficult but not impossible), then run the episodes leading up to it, then hype the hell out of the big finale.
