  1. ...because baseball players apparently don't already get paid enough money for hitting a ball with a stick.

Sports and entertainment has always been weird like that.

You don't get paid based on what you do.

You get paid based on how many people are willing to pay to see you do that...

Our culture is quirky that way...  Apparently very few people would pay to see me manage an IT group...  Oh well.  ;-)

Aw-I definitely agree, on some level-ALL sports entertainers are overpaid. I DO think they should make a lot, for sure, they generate a lot, but still, overpaid.

I believe one of the main issues the player's union is worried about/addressing aggressively, is that smaller market teams can't legitimately compete.

      Now-I'm NOT Harry Einstein.

But to me it sounds like behind the lines, the players union actually has a problem with the larger market teams being able to throw money around at will, i.e., "the teams are allowed to spend too much money".

So I get your point, but the representatives for the players seem to be aiming for more equal salaries, knowing the small market teams can't pay a 100 million dollar contract, meaning less money, but a more fair playing field.

Just how I interpreted it, again, I ain't that smart.
