Actually, the animals were already dead before the pizza was made (I hope!), so strictly speaking, you're right: the making of the pizza didn't harm them.

It wasn't meant so much as a condemnation of modern computing, as it was a statement about having a really bad day at work, computer-wise. But the resulting comments were far more interesting.

  5. I wonder if Adobe ever tests their software before unleashing it on the public? Probably saves them a lot of time and money to have paying customers find all of their bugs for them. #IHateAdobeMustBeADayThatEndsInY

That article is a good start, although it only scratches the surface. Their support for enterprise and educational customers is absolutely abysmal. When they pushed out CC 2019 a year ago, the licensing broke for labs. They've since removed their document warning administrators, but it said, in part:

"What happens if I try to update lab environments to Creative Cloud 2019?

First, please do not attempt to upgrade lab environments to Creative Cloud 2019 at this time as, unfortunately, Creative Cloud 2019 is not currently available for labs. If you attempt to update shared environments (labs and classrooms) to Creative Cloud 2019, the apps installed on a machine will run in trial mode."

They posted this after CC 2019 shipped. It took months for the licensing issues to get sorted out.

Photoshop 2020 was a train-wreck of bugs and crashes when it shipped in the fall. We're still patching it.

Look on the bright side. The CEO that was running things at Adobe now works for Maxon. So we got that going for us. Which is nice. That and the total consciousness on our death beds thing.

  6. How did the toy companies miss making this one: Luke Skywalker action figure with removable hand and interchangeable accessories - grappling hook, claw, rocket launcher, magnet, etc. Maybe for the next sequel.

Maybe it's not too late! George Lucas could do another Special Edition with an all-new CGI lightsaber fight between Luke and Darth Vader. Then they could make new action figures to go with it.

While they're at it, they could add Jar-Jar Binks, to help move some of those Jar-Jar action figures that nobody wanted.

During the climactic scene where Vader turns on the Emperor and rescues Luke, Jar-Jar could walk across the screen behind them and fart.

  14. Why does this say "Dental Repairs" on it? I don't even want to *think* about how that would work... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000CNIKG6/

    3. Flojomojo

      Flojomojo

Dentists perform dental repairs, and they need tools to do it. Is this such a stretch? You're on a site where the last machine produced by the website's namesake has had its plastic molds repurposed into dental cameras (as well as scam video game revival consoles, but that's a subject for a different discussion, one with 9,805 replies)

^That's Right! I've got a lot of reading to do! Soon as I fire this puppy up and finish these dental repairs!

  15. Most of the items in the vending machine at work are $1.25. But you can't actually put 25¢ into it, because the vending machine doesn't take change. Only bills and debit cards. If you put in two $1 bills, it will give you change that you can't use in it. And if you put a $5 bill in it, it gives you back dollar coins, which you also can't use in it. I didn't know Apple was making vending machines.

I use my Apple Watch for vending machine purchases, so I don't have to go into my pockets like an animal.

Using a $20 bill in the metro farecard machine to add $1 in credit and getting back 19 golden Sacagawea dollar coins as change is one of the great pleasures of life.

Also, my body outputs lots of things that I wouldn't want to put into it. What's the problem?

    3. pacman000

      pacman000

Use a debit card & make the owners pay a fee for not accepting coins. (Credit & Debit card companies charge a fee for every transaction.)

    4. Nathan Strum

      Nathan Strum

The machine charges the user a fee - so it costs extra to use a debit card.

Getting tired of these handhelds with these tiny weenie little screens, considering the market these would appeal to they should consider the failing eyesight of the older generation. I mean come on.

these days I wont even consider anything with less than a 5' screen and even then I prefer at least a 7' screen.

    3. OldSchoolRetroGamer

      OldSchoolRetroGamer

Replay is awful, as well. Man running to third on a close play at first, he's tagged out, meanwhile call is disputed at first, they change the call -- now what do you do with the runner? Imho replay is ruining the game.

    4. Nathan Strum

      Nathan Strum

Agreed on the replays. They should only use them to check on whether or not a ball is a home run. I think that's still a legitimate use.
