  1. HELO MISTAR NAMESERVAR, I HAVE TO ASK YOU SOMETHING

  2. Between COVID, bureaucracy, and other considerations, it took almost a year-and-a-half to get the license for the career I've been trying to move into since leaving tech...  But it finally arrived in the mail today.  I never thought I'd be so happy about the prospect of getting to see how badly I'm going to get nailed on liability insurance ?

Dildo manufacturing is a lucrative career, but the licensing fees are steep!

True, but there's enough prior art that patent and copyright concerns just don't exist.  I'm telling you, it's pure money.  Pure, pure money.

  3. Even Rocky had a montage.

@ClassicGMR  I totally read that as mortgage too the first time!  I just thought OK I don't remember that in the movie but it's been a while...And I went on reading other Status Updates...Haaa!

I'm fairly sure he got a mortgage in the 2nd movie; that's one reason he needed to start fighting again.

Rocky didn't have a mortgage!  He rented, then he paid for his home in cash with his title bout winnings.

  4. Now that I look around a bit, there does seem to be a larger than usual case of The Ass going around the forums at present.

I'm doing my part as best I can!

  5. By this time tomorrow, I will have driven close to 4000 miles in one week.  That's not my record, but it's a hell of a lot more than I've done in a long time.  A 1992 Oldsmobile Custom Cruiser is starting to sound more and more appealing as a result.

I've done just over 1,050 miles without sleeping once, with a NASCAR race breaking it up about halfway between the two segments. Makes for a long day and a half or so. :)

I drove about 20 hours straight one time.  When I got home I slept from 3pm Saturday to 3pm Sunday.   24 hours LOL   I didn't wake up once.

It was like I was dead.

The Beavis & Butthead episode with the poodle in the washing machine ("set it on delicate; it's a poodle") was playing when I posted that ?

  9. Whoever at the insurance company decided that the department dealing with our hail-damaged car was going to be called the Catastrophic Operations Centre either had no clue as to the acronym they'd created, or knew full damn well what they were doing.

  11. The sound of post-tenant house rehabilitation taking place next door starting each morning at 7.30am is a small price to pay for having those people gone.

When you have to call the cops on someone resident there for having a domestic in the middle of the street, then find out after they're arrested that they were wanted on 30 outstanding felony counts (yes, really - 30 is not a typo), you probably don't want to have anything to do with those folks.

the last batch of indigents I had next door, would bang the walls so much, I had to sleep in shifts. Only thing that would silence them, was Iron Maiden- Number Of The Beast

That was exactly where I was pulling the reference from :-D  The Comedy Central Animation channel on Pluto has been streaming the series again, and that gag was fresh in my mind as a result.

Good series, but 3 seasons was enough.  The movie was bad.

  13. What if Atari had put a 68000 in the 2600 from the start?  Sure, they'd have to travel two or three years into the future to get their hands on it, but just think of the possibilities!  Then the Jaguar could have come out in 1983 and the company would today be where AWS is but with more Bentley Bear.

    1. Albert

      Albert

I forgot the 68000 was introduced in 1979!  I think it was close to $500 when it was new, and that's in 1979 dollars.  You'd probably be looking at a thousand dollar Atari VCS!

  14. Last night, we had a hailstorm with hail up to the size of baseballs.  One car had every panel that faces upward dented to hell, while the other one had zero body damage but lost its rear window and taillights.  They were parked one behind the other.  Not sure how that worked out.

Yup, same storm.  Heading down to Dallas shortly to pick up Peugeot parts.  Unfortunately, it looks as though the rear window is in L.A., so getting that out here will be interesting.

Nope, those are actually two of them.  Have to stab them repeatedly to get them to print multiple characters.

  16. Does anyone know the phone number for Protovision in Sunnyvale, California?

I would not call that number from your own phone line.

It's cool.  I've got the same model cordless phone as the neighbours, so I'll just hop onto their base station and use their line.

  20. Day two of Pfizer C19 vaccine no. 2: ugh.  They weren't kidding about the 'flu-like symptoms, which have laid both of us pretty seriously out flat.  At least it's for a good cause.

Yep - mom & I had the Pfizer shot on Monday.  No symptoms at all.  I'm really keeping my fingers crossed #2 is just as smooth but I'm saving up my sick days just in case.

Meanwhile, apparently 15 million doses of the J&J vaccine were spoiled due to "employee error".

Makes you wonder what they had claimed for insurance on that stuff...

  21. Got the second C19 vaccine (Pfizer) a couple of hours ago.  Hurts less around the injection site than no. 1 did.  Feeling slightly lightheaded and queasy, but nothing terrible; it's about equivalent to mild motion sickness.

@ls650: I hear you, and it's a mess everywhere.  Friends in Regina just went into another lockdown; from what I hear, Sask is having some issues getting everything taken care of.  Hopefully BC does better.

  23. UAV finally showed up in the post today.  Now to make the 1200XL's video readable...

  24. I hope that the UAV I ordered is having a great time in wherever the USPS has lost sight of it.  Should've been here yesterday; tracking status is now the equivalent of a shrugging emoji.
