Back in the day it wasn't so bad. But the buttons would always break. Missle command never worked. Even at a relatives house never got it to work. I always wondered how you were supposed to play the game. That was until I got a used 5200 off ebay. Now I can play missle command. But anyway the stock controllers were great except for the buttons refusing to work after 1000 presses or so. I even played frogger and got through like 4 or 5 levels or something like that. But now I can't stand it. Either that or my controllers are in need of a gold rebuild. Anyhow as for the wico the pointy thing is not bad. And for some games like frogger the wico is much better. Plus. it was only 20 dollars on ebay. So It was no big deal. But I hate buttons are on the left instead of the right. And a rubber band does not keep them pressed. Maybe a competition pro 5000 would help or an atari masterplay, but it is so hard to find those. even on ebay.

The problem is I like Qbert. But I'm a lefty. And my wico control joystick I got off ebay buttons are on left. So it is hard to press and move stick with right hand. If only they had an auto fire joystick. Button would stay pressed leaving both hands free for moving the stick. And also if they made wireless sticks without need for masterplay would be cool.

You can't once its been gutted out and turned into a lamp. Unless you made it dual purpose. That would be so cool.

I don't know what happened to the couch comment. But that would be cool making a couch look like an atari 2600.

I use a screw driver. Never tried a penny. Anyhow the box thing sounds cool. What would be involved in building the box?

Actually Galaxian is the best. Just tried it and it does not turn on with the fire buttons. But if I press any of the buttons the game starts except the # button which selects between 1 and 2 players. But if the buttons never worked in the first place the game would not start at all. So I guess I have 2 working controllers now.

What is the best way to test all the buttons? I have a revision 9 stock I think I got working. But don't know how to verify all the buttons are good. Which games use 0-9 on the keypad?

Or would it be possible to cut buttons directly into the console. So build a start pause and reset directly into the console to iliminate the need for the controller. So I can use my wico and no need for a keypad.

I hvae 3 sticks. 1 appears to be fully working. 1 crap nothing works except * and #. Even joystick doesn't work. and 1 works now all button i think including start pause and reset. But joystick doesn't move anything in game. Tin foil never worked. What worked was tapping the contacts with a screw driver. Not sure thought about why the stick doesn not work on the one with the working buttons.

I just saw a listing on ebay for a game called frisky tom. I don't remember that from basck in the day. Is that a rare game. I don't see it listed anywherre. Look like it is for 5200 and with label and all (not a prototype).

There are a few 5200 ac adapters right now on ebay.

I didn't know about the 100-500 thing. But the gravis does not have a switch. It does however have both 15 pin male and female so I can plug that into the 5200. Or I can use gender changers for the rest but the ones I got don't work. Must be the first thing you mentioned 100 - 500. Makes sense now, thanks.

I got these 3 off ebay. Do you think those will work. And your adapter converts digital to atari 5200. But if the controllers are all analog why won't they work straight without an adapter.

Really??? The ones I get from eBay always look like this: :rolling: That is Classic! Sounds like another cool project for you mod huys. Anyhow my sears teel 2600 was pretty good shape and not near as dusty. And I have gotten others off ebay good shape also. Just need to keep an eye out.
