LOL, I meant console wise?

BTW, What is the difference between light and heavy? I got a sears tele games of ebay. It is 6 switches. But I don't know if it is heavy or light.

He sent his test box to me for testing, and I had the same results. Nothing but snow.
U1, on the switchbox board, which is a voltage comparator was the culprit. A really cheap part to replace, and relatively easy to fix.
Afterwards, the switchbox "clicked" and fired up!
Peace has been restored in the 5200 world

Yes peace finally. Although it could still mean my atari is broken but I bet that it will start now with a good box. Now time to load up on games and accessories.

Your sign is missing something like that what would make it special for Atari collectors................
Tramiel's blood?

Funny thing was we had a 4 port 5200 and we never has super breakout (I read here somewhere that was the pack in game). I remember it comming with pacman. I don't remember it comming with breakout.
Pac-Man was included later, as I understand it, as a direct response to the Colecovision using Donkey Kong as a pack-in
When the 5200 was released, Breakout was the game, and they were all four-port.
Later, Atari found a fix for the four ports (to be compatible with the vcs adapter). They fixed and released the remaining 4-port back-stock. However, they had started using Pac-Man as the pack in game by then.
Damm, that means I had a rare atari. I wish we hadn't given it away.

You could try making a cover for the trash stick to hide the wires.

Wow! Great find...and CIB!
BTW, what is R9?
-
I'm not seeing any or you could always buys a used second hand tv just to play the old games.

So in ohter words you are saying it is not his fault, that is just how they were back then.

Thanks I ask cuz all the emulators I use show space invaders as gren background but I remember it as black with white invaders as a kid.
-
Was there any difference in the sears version than regular 2600 games. Like the 112 space invaders. Or was it just a lablel varation and the game was the same.

If you click on the photo and blow it up that is round corners isn't it.

No, this is not a gay personal ad requesting some kind of strange Atari fetish be thrown into the mix

Umm... I remember a while back someone here was selling what they thought was a strange oddity. They had the rounded corners of a heavy sixer bottom, but said that the rest of their machine was just a 4-switch. I forget who it was, but they commented that they thought it looked like someone had modified/bastardized the two systems together. Well, I was looking at my 4-switch box today and noticed it too had the curved/rounded corners on the bottom, by the wood grain. This box from 1980 has the Sunnyvale address in the lower right hand corner on it, but mentions the deck was made in Taiwan. I had previously thought that by the time the system had been revised to their 4-switch standard, that they all had the sharper corners, but this box contradicts that notion. The two woodgrain 4-switches I currently have do NOT have the rounded corners. Just this odd box, which finally caught my eye after all these years.
I guess my question is this: how rare are these rounded 4-switches? Who all here has one? Among the dozens of systems I've refurbished throughout the years, I can't say I recall ever seeing one. Perhaps I have the ONLY box ever released for the one system this other guy here has. What would be the odds? lmao
Funny bit of memory here... only reason I have this particular box is because I was at a customers home installing their cable (yes, I was a cable/internet guy for a while) when I spied the thing sitting all alone on a shelf in their basement. Asked him about it (he happened to be a UPS driver) and he said the box was empty, just that he had been carrying it around all these years for sentimental reasons. He offhandedly mentioned he was just about to throw it away when I asked if I could have it
Sounds interesting. Used to play space invaders at a friends house often but don't remember if it was 4 or 6 switch. Was wood grain 4 sure is all I remember.

you could try here
the great thing about the Stelladapters is the ability to use paddles, I don;t think any of the other adapters can do that
Unfortunately, there's no "add to cart" option there. I was asking about this in one of the threads in the forum "Web Site Comments" - where someone was posting that they're happy the AtariAge store is back up. But there was no reply.
I gather these are simply not available anymore, from AtariAge?
Oh man, the ones that Philsan linked to don't say they work with paddles, which is the best thing. Back to square one: Anybody know if the AtariAge store will ever sell these again?
:)Thanks for the suggestions though, fellas.
Cuz if you click the box where it says 1 and hit enter it says
There are not that many of this product in stock.
So looks like they are just out of stock.

Neat, but quick question. Would it be possible to reverse engineer the same thing. I mean allow a real 2600 to use usb joy sticks.

I'm rather new to these forums, having decided to sign up after I dug out my (t)rusty old VCS and discovered that it still works. Thing is, I'm sorely tempted by some of the stuff on the Store (not least of all the custom carts) but I need to ask a newbie question regarding PAL/NTSC. I have a PAL Vader connected via the hardwired (grr) RF cable to a TV which supports NTSC/60hz. While I'm aware of the translated colour palette, is it actually possible for me to play NTSC games with this setup?
Just get a ntsc 2600 on ebay. They are cheap these days. Otherwise it is 2 different things. Pal cannot play ntsc.

This joystick looks like a DIY to me. Has anyone every made one like this? Could it be used on something other than a 2600?
Where did you get these photos.

LOL, that was pretty funny. Classic case of out-of-context.
On the spark issue. I cannot believe that this has become a point of discussion here. It's a 100% non-issue. Plug the thing in the right way and no spark = no issue! Why is this even interesting?
Now to me, that would only enhance a system's coolness. How many other systems can be used to light a flamethrower. Nuff said.
I use a 4 port with a Zippo box and a controller with it's original Rev 7 flex. It works fine. If it broke, I'd fix it or get another one because the games I like on it are that good.(to me)
What is a zippo box??

never used?

just look at the sticker picture

The sticker is faded after 20 years of storage. That doesn't mean it was never used.
And the 750 got relisted to 700 bin and starting of 95 dollars with a reserve. But doesn't make sense. Why put a reserve. I mean if it didn't sell last time it won't if you are still expecting 700 in return. Only 50 is not much.

Back again after a long hiatus
