I saw the which do you prefer thread. Lots of interesting replys. But what really is the difference. Lets forget the new 2600+ and gamestation pro and flashbacks for now and keep it to original hardware.
First how many varients are there?
Official
Atari 2600 Woody Heav 6er 6 switch. Some early ones had a white cart slot.
Atari 2600 Woody Light 6er six switch.
Atari 2600 Woody 4 switch.
Atari 2600 Vader all black.
Atari 2600 Jr long andxshort rainbow.
Atari 7800 also plays 2600 carts.
3rd party
Sears Telegames 6 switch.
Sears Telegames 4 switch.
Sears Video Arcade 2.
Coleco expansion module.
I think that is it for physical carts.
Now lets talk differences.
What games do not work on the varations. I remember mwave koolaid someone said does not work properly on the JR.
7800 also has some 2600 titles that do not work?
Do the Sears have any Atari games that do not work? Or the coleco expansion module? Or some Sears Games that do not work properly on Atari 2600 versions or the 7800.
Second question how are the colors. Is the pallete the same on all varations? Or one looks better than the other?
And finally the accessories. Al varations have 9 pins. So does that mean everything is compatible? I know the sears video arcade 2 controllers are different bucause of the paddle mode. But everything else is the same looks like. Or is there anything that works on one and not another.
