  1. Yesterday at a local retro meeting someone joked that we were vegetarians because it has the word 'atari' hidden in it. :-/
  2. I would still like to preserve the physical item and make a clean dump. Is there a manual and packaging, http://ataripreservation.org
  3. Little experience with Audacity, but... http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/low_pass_filter.html Try to cut off above 6khz (that's far above the mark/space signals). You probably have to experiment a little. Let us know if this works
  4. @Allan: what equipment are you using for digitizing? Are the squeals on both channels? Might need some high frequency filtering to get rid of it...
  5. Maybe you can record it and upload it here? Or send it to one of the (many) software collectors
  6. A backward compatible ATX sounds fine to me as long as the whole thing is documented. I wouldn't call ATX, PRO, ATP or any other derivative format a "preservation format". It's best practice to save the raw source and have several "publication formats" e.g. for emulators.
  7. Some ED protections only contain (a lot of) double sectors. I once experimented with it and got 30 full sectors on each track. IMHO it would still be nice to have an open documented image format. It could be based on the ATP proposal or something completely different. As long as it's documented and open source it would make me happy http://www.ataripreservation.org/websites/freddy.offenga/ATP16.htm
  8. Copy protected MFM is used quite often in Europe. ANG Software used it too. I did a few myself for Mega Magazine
  9. Nice! This is all very interesting :-)
  10. Hi Voy! All credits go to Farb and others. I didn't contribute any disk images here ( yet?). Maybe you can get a 96tpi drive somewhere? Or i can send you one if you like. It would be great to have all those Polish titles preserved! :-) Friendly greetings, Freddy.
  11. The question remains, who needs it? Personally i never used/needed FP on the Atari and i try to avoid FP in general, but i'm probably the ignorant exception?
  12. IMHO only the raw images are the preservation formats. ATX, ATR, PRO and others that are extracted from the raw image, are user/emulator formats. Both are important ofcourse, but i rather loose an extracted on than the raw one.
  13. http://ataripreservation.org/ We focus on real (physical) collections and all kinds of variations (box, labels, dumps etc.). It would be good to relate the original owner and original copy to the digital dump. I hope you're also recording that info Farb? Would be nice to exchange ideas about our preservation process.
  14. Also posted on my blog here: http://atariage.com/forums/blog/587/entry-11609-tool-to-dump-atari-xlxe-os-rom-basic-rom/ Let me know if you like to have the source code, i'll dig it up F#READY
  15. Exactly what i remember Pirx! :-)
  16. Let's keep an eye on these issues. http://www.cbmstuff.com/forum/showthread.php?tid=195
  17. Hi Farb, Nice to see you're still working on this subject! You know we have the same goal We already have metadata and storage infra in place. Will support both Kryoflux and Supercard Pro raw images. Let's join forces and talk again, ok? Regards, Freddy.
  18. Better to use Kryoflux or Supercard Pro to preserve those disks IMHO.
  19. Oops! Added now: http://atariage.com/forums/blog/587/entry-11609-tool-to-dump-atari-xlxe-os-rom-basic-rom/ Will upload the source code later...
