  1. The factory controllers are non issue if set up correctly with Best Electronics guts ,and the console is properly calibrated.. I have no problems with any of mine , though the re-learning curve and investment early on was substantial, so I can understand why many get frustrated..

If you cant live with the cx52, there is always the WICO for right handed players and the Comp Pro stick for ambi's , or the couple add ones to make your digi stick analog.

  2. Not really looking to separate or do any trading.

Only items of interest would be a Colecovision multi-cart , boxed Zaxxon for coleco , or a 128-1 5200 m-cart, and am always looking for boxed 5200 carrying cases. plus/minus cash

  3. 41,570

I've hit this one hard and have had enough. One of the few games that I prefer the 2600 version over the 5200 .

I really don't get the scoring on this game at all. On my last run through, I got mid way through the 2nd wave and ended up with a lesser score than the one I am posting and I avoided the power ups so as to avoid missing ships.

Power ups on the first wave really hamper scoring and if you are lucky enough to get through or even into the 2nd , you can not slow your ship up enough to avoid getting killed while trying to grab the power up.

The collision control is pretty shoddy even on a well calibrated console. CX52 design flaw?

Frustrated , but happy to be playing again.

  4. 2 port boxed new

2 port with Atari Service sticker on it, my beloved "Galaxian" console used on the HSC.

    4 port Asterisk boxed new

4 port Asterisk in a 5200 carrying case

4 port , my first 5200 & main gaming console on the HSC.

    4 port, my back up.

I vastly prefer the cosmetics of the 4 port over the 2 port, mainly because the 4 port is shiny black , smooth , and so Star Wars influenced, where as the 2 port has the textured compartment door and bezel.

None are modded, some have been repaired over the years. I would like to eventually pick up a 4 port to have the direct power and composite/s-video mods done, the audio out would be really cool for hooking up to a Bose Lifestyle system, but truthfully none are a big priority for me, 34 years after the fact :)

  5. Hi, I'm new to the 5200. I just a 4 port version in the box with five games. The 5200 works great, the switchbox works great, so do the games. It came with two controllers, and I had a spare controller. But of course I don't have one controller in which all the buttons work. I took one apart after watching you-tube videos, and was able to make one work. Does anyone recommend the Best 5200 controller that supposedly doesn't break. I mean it took forever for me to fix the controller, and every time I did, one button that did work, wouldn't, and one that did would. Granted, I have an xe, most of the games, and won't be playing the 5200 much, but still, when I want to, I'd rather not play musical controllers. I bought a refurbished lynx, and some European 7800 controllers a few years ago, and have had no problems. What do you guys think.

There is no such thing as a CX52 that doesn't require maintenance at some point.

The gold buttons and gold flex circuits are great and have made life with the CX52 controller a wonderful thing, BUT you have to remember that the gold buttons are metal not carbon tipped or soft , they will eventually eat up your flex circuit if you use it enough , especially if one competes in the HSC.

I've rebuilt my main controller 4 times since 2012 and not just flex circuits. I have had zero issues with the Best buttons, it's everything else that goes belly up , pots get weird, boots hang up , slide plates get sloppy.

If not on a budget, my recommendation is build a minimum of 4 controllers , then come up with a pecking order of the ones you like best so that WHEN one does go down, you aren't waiting for a parts order.

I will be spending a tidy sum on parts after the holidays.
