  1. Hi Dano, Thanks. Just got off work and looked at WinRAR. I found the option did a batch file. It appears to have worked because Windows 7 compression will open it correctly. I'm going to try it on my second machine yesterday using WinZip 11. If all is well then it's a simple matter of re-compressing the files in the zip format and uploading them to my site. I would still like to figure out why "#" escaped with %23 in the URL works great, but "+" escaped with %2B results in a 404. Ernie
  2. You are correct. The site will be offline while I correct the suffixs, etc. I was using an older version of WinZip which didn't have command line support. Going to WinRAR gave me that, plus paths, etc. I kept the .zip extension hoping that the WinZip would still open it. It appears that, at least the older version I have doesn't, but I had to go to one of my backup machines to test. So, it's rename, alter html files, etc. Based on my work schedule it should be back online tomorrow afternoon, or Tuesday morning Again, sorry for the hassle. This is becoming somewhat of a learning experience. Ernie
  3. Thanks for the catch. Lesson for today; just because it works on your local browser doesn't mean that it will work in the Internt browser. The "#" sign was due to my error in correcting the wrong thing. As for the "+" sign, I thought that I could deal with it by using %2B, but still got an error. The "+" sign in the filename has been replaced by a lowercase "p" although the list of files still shows it at "+". Can't say that I like it, but it now works.. or at least until I upload the next batch. :-)
  4. I have corrected the links for the problem files that Cory found, so all should be well (hopefully!). I do apologize for the mess. A couple of things since my last post. I looked into making the directory on my site an FTP instead. Unfortunately, GoDaddy requires it to be password protected and that would make things even worse. I considered working with Don to have them uploaded to WHT, but that brings back the whole Linux vs Windows filenaming convention which is why I had GoDaddy convert my current server from Linux to Windows, The one change I do need to make is to figure out how to include the path in the current and future ZIP files, using my 7zip batch file, because I can't keeping putting it on the user to manage locations. Ernie
  5. The http method includes an upload date column so that users can monitor what is and isn't new. With the book site I had not only a "Recent Addtions" section, but clicking on the "Last Updated" date brought up a change-log.txt file. I would implement something similar if I moved to a FTP model. Either HTTP or FTP works for me although the FTP model allows for maintaining my original file structure, which might make organizing the uploaded product for WHTech easier. In any event I'm pretty committed to the measured apporach, so it might make more sense to wait until everything is posted to copy it to WHT. Ernie
  6. Cory, Thanks for the corrections. I ran into that issue on some earlier ones and corrected it in the HTML page, but forgot to check the graphics. A thought that I've been having is whether it makes more sense to do these as a FTP rather than HTML. It may be a lot easier with apps like WinSCP and Filezilla to downlaod the files. As for "when" all of the files will be posted that's going to take some time. I'm trying to avoid a massive dump and opting instead for a measured release so that users might acttually take some time bewtween download cycles to browse some of the files rather than just download allow them to become "shelfware". Ernie
  7. Proving once again that no good deed goes unpunished; Migration from Linux to Windows complete. Filenames no longer an issue, but server won't allow for download of files with .DSK suffix Required a batch coversion of .DSK to .ZIP format, which server will recognize. Added benefit of smaller download file size. Got called into work early, so limited testing. Will do more tomorrow. Also, a change to front page, although incomplete. In theory, this should make it easier on users when I add new folders. In theory. Ernie
  8. Yep.. Sorry about that.. It's all part of the Windows vs Linus filename issue. Not being a Linux guy I didn't anticipate the degree of issues that I would run into. Give it a day, or so for the Linux to Windows conversion to complete and try again. Ernie
  9. Thanks Jim, I doubt that I'll go the archive route. I like the idea of users being able to select individual disks if they wish. Also, the disks can be batch downloaded via web scraping softrware if the user doesn't want to go the disk at a time route. I also admit to wanting to reduce the workload on my end by simply uploading the directories from my drive, creating the HTML page and be done with it. In the process I forgot the old Texas saying; "Dance with the one that brung ya'" and problems crept in with Windows filenames on a Linux server. Hopefully, that will be resolved once GoDaddy migrates me from a Linux server to a Windows server. Ernie
  10. I'm not sure there ever was an official Disk Manager II manual, since the module shipped as part of the TI Disk Controller package. You can get the PHP1240 Disk Memory System manual, which contains a section on DM II here. Ernie
  11. Over the years I have transfered 10,000+ disks from the 99/4A to the PC in PC99 and TI-99_PC format. Some of the disks have been cataloged, some have not, some are problem free, some are not, some have descriptive disk/file names, some don't, some are duplicates, some aren't, etc. In other words all are "as is". I have uploaded the first batch to pergrem.com/tidisks and will upload others during the coming months. Feel free to download what you wish. Use them, share them with others, upload them to other sites, etc., but DO NOT sell them. BTW, the first download you should make is the INDEX file, which contains a listing of the files on each disk. This might help you determine if a particular disk interests you. Above all, I hope you enjoy them. NOTE: You may get a 404 Page Error when you attempt to download some of the disks. While things such as parenthesis work great for Windows disk names, they don't so much on the Internet. If you run into a problem, just be patient and and check back later. I'm hoping to have all of the links fixed within the next week. Ernie
  12. I don't think that CaDD has publically released the manual, which means it can't be distributed to non-PC99 owners. Ernie
  13. I guess that I've been fortunate then. Currently using MESS on a Windows 7 PC with QMC2 as the front end and have found the learning curve to be somewhat flat. No, it's not completely plug and play, but I haven't had to do a lot of reading either. Ernie
  14. Thanks Walid, I freely admit that I did it as much for myself as the community. At some point I plan on moving and the work done for the site will save me transporting untold pounds of books. :-) There is still work remaining. One of the things that I have yet to finish and may never, is to create virtual disks for those books having source code. I've got about three disks in progress, but not sure when I will get them finished. Ernie
  15. Beginning March 1st, my book archive site will begin redirecting visitors to the new location of the TI-99/4A Home Computer Book Archive, which is being hosted by Jon Guidry. There are currently three books that Jon has yet to integrate into his copy of the archive. Those and any new TI-99/4(A) related books that I come across will, or have been scanned and sent to Jon for inclusion on the new site. There will be no new additons to my site before the transisiton. As mentioned earlier, Ciro will also be intergrating the books into his site, so I encourage you to visit his TI-99 Italian User Club site to view the progress. I would encourage you to add Ciro's site to your bookmarks and update the one for the book archive if you have not already done so. Thanks, Ernie
  16. I've been a bit quite since my earlier post, but as Ciro indicated, he will be integrating the books from the archive into his site. Also, Jon Guidry has volunteered to host the current site and will be assuming ownership of it. For now he has a mirror at http://www.hexbus.com/tibooks. I still have three more books to scan and post, but once that's done I will start redirecting visitors to Jon's site. Ernie
  17. Really no big deal. A) The world needs more optimists and at $79.99 he is certainly that, B) There is a snowball's chance in Hell that he is going to find a buyer, and C) figuratively speaking, TI-99/4A consoles are a dime a dozen. Heck, I've got one that I would give to someone if they were willing to make a trip to my house. Ernie
  18. I have five somewhat TI related books that I will be adding to the TI-99/4A Book Archive within the next couple of weeks and will likely not be adding anymore unless I can find those books listed on my "In search of..." page. As such, I am thinking of passing the archive onto someone else to host and manage. I’ve given Ciro permission to add the books to http://www.ti99iuc.it/, although the format he uses makes them less easily accessible than my site does. Therefore, I need to find someone whose vision of “simplicity” is similar to mine. My original intent was to covert my books into digital form so that I wouldn’t have to tote around. That’s been accomplished along witha few extras. The second goal, which is to create disks from the source code in those books is a long range project and one that I find myself only semi-enthusiastically embracing. As some of you may know, during the past year I sold all of my 99/4A items. I have also recently started a new job. Along with other long delayed projects, new interests, etc. I have less time than I once had to devote to 99/4A related activities. Who knew retirement would be so busy? Therefore, If you know of a good candidate to take on the book archive please let me know. I won't be going away, I just won't be as visible in the community as I once was. Thanks, Ernie
  19. I've owned several and while they are tanks they have a really small print buffer. Press enter and wait, and wait, and wait... That's okay for TI-Writer documents, but not so great when you're generating a souce code listings. You really need a print buffer the best use out of them. Ernie
  20. Gene, Hopefully someone will be able to help you. If that fails; I'm primarily a MESS. user though still do some stuff with PC99. If you want to give MESS a go I would be glad to help you get started. I find it extremely flexible and although it lacks the cut and paste functionality of Win994A or Classic99 that's an easy fix. Just drop me an email at epergrem at yahoo dot com. Ernie
  21. There are several assembly language books that deal with MIni Memory on TI-99/4A Home Comptuer Book Archvie, The variety is why I suggest pointing to the home page rather than linking to a specific book. Ernie
  22. Thanks Klaus, Getting a physical 2nd edition would be nice. Then can put it into my format. Please feel free to send it along. It will help me distinguish between the two versions when I go looking for a 2nd. Ernie
