I was going through my attic and came across a bunch of long lost and forgotten boxes containing TI99/4A consoles. Their power cords are long since gone and the consoles themselves are in OK, but not great condition - particularly the beige consoles. They are dusty and dirty. What do I do with these? Does someone in the Edmonds Washington area want to pick them up? Does someone in the community want them? Should I strip out the motherboards and offer those? Looking for some ideas. I would really hate to take these to the local e-recycle center if indeed someone wants them or could use them.

Really nice work!! I'm in!

Is there a way to make a thread private? Those of us that didn't get a copy are feeling a bit jealous! Oh, and for those of you that have your cartridge and haven't used it yet, shame!! Shame on you !!

I'll reach out to Harald and Michael again and see if they would be interested in a licensing deal. I emailed Michael back in 2010 or 2011 and he promptly replied to me. I've emailed him a couple of times since then and have not received a reply. I'm guessing that he's not ignoring my emails, but rather is not seeing them or perhaps they are landing in his spam folder. Oh yes, forgot about that. Although that shouldn't be a problem. I have way too many consoles up in the attic. I've been meaning to get rid of them, but out of sight out of mind. Can I ask a really stupid question here? What advantage does emulating SCSI have when we're in an emulator? Is it because certain hardware and software was designed to only talk to a SCSI controller and therefore will not run under emulation without it? Sorry for the dumb question, but you piqued my interest.

I will definitely check that out, but for some mysterious reason, I find my interest in the hobby directly and irrevocably bound to the real hardware. I run MESS and Classic99 and really appreciate the work that's been put into them, but I find that my interest quickly fades when I'm using emulation. There's some part of my brain that interrupts my playtime and tells me that if I'm in Linux or Windows that I should be coding in Java / Ruby / C#, not playing with my TI. I'm constantly exhausted by my internal argument and ultimately find myself defeated by a tyrant task master that insists on being practical. When I'm on my hardware, that voice doesn't seem to bother me. I see only two solutions to my problem - spend money on therapy or hardware. Although my wife votes for therapy, I'd rather spend it on making some cool vintage electronics.

You read my mind. I'd be more than happy to forward ship it on to you Gary. I've done a fair amount of International Shipping. That being said, I'm not sure if the issue you are having has to do with tariffs and restrictions and all that non-sense - but if it's just that the seller won't deal with the hassle, then I'd be happy to help out. Anyway, the offer is out there if you ever need someone to help out with forward shipping.

First question - Is anyone willing to sell me their SGCPU card and or their HSGPL card? ... ...... .......... I figured that was a long shot so on to question 2. How can we convince Michael Becker to make another run or release the schematics so we could make another run ourselves? I'm sure the cost of a 1-off board is on par with the asking price should one wish to sell theirs. Wantingly yours, Ck

My favorite guy is still the guy listing his Amiga 1000 for 5,100. The amusing part about this guy is that he raises the price $100 every time the listing ends. On top of that, he wants to charge for shipping. For grins I sent him an email asking if he's throw in shipping for free if I bought his computer. He replied, "Why would I do that? Would you?" I was left speechless.

I've been diving deep and exploring all of the great content Ernie has made available -- thanks again Ernie, this is quite a gift!! I realized it would be a lot easier to explore and use my HDX, if I unzipped all of the files at one time, so I wrote a quick and dirty DOS batch file to recursively scan a directory structure and unzip every zip file it finds. Paste the following script into notepad and save the file as "unzipr.bat" or whatever you want to call it. Save it in the top most directory of the folder structure you wish to unzip. Then pull up a dos prompt and cd to that folder and simply run the command (e.g. c:\Ernies_Greatist_hits> unzipr.bat ). The script will proceed to find all zip files in the folder structure and unzip each one. Note: I created a directory named "c:\disk" as the destination where I want the files to be unzipped. You can change this in the script to something else if you like. @echo off FOR /R %%a IN (*.zip) DO ( unzip "%%a" -d c:\disk )

I found a couple of files under GRAPHICS and GRAPH01 that have a malformed URL for the download link. A tip for those that would like to download those files: Replace the # character with %23 and then paste that into the address bar of your browser. Here's a list of corrected links for everyone's convenience (I hope you're ok with me posting these Ernie). I've been working on a website that leverages the peekbot technology. The peekbot technology is a bit old, so I've been updating it and am planning on launching a new website that would allow someone to login, register, then upload a disk image, submit an ftp location or a URL. The site would then scan the disk, catalog the contents, and make them available to browse online. Using the peekbot technology, the website can read basic programs, xbasic programs, and various other formats. Taking it step further, the site would let you save or download one or more disk images in any format. The other idea I had was to allow people to subscribe to the entire catalog or specific folders or categories and then, like dropbox, automatically push updates to your machine. I'd love to collaborate with someone on the project.
