My wife picked one of these up at Costco. I've only tried it wireless so far, but the lag is a bit much. I've ordered some USB-C cables to see if that will take care of the issue. Looking forward to adding more roms. Do we know what 2600 emulator it uses?

So does this prototype wireless joystick also work on original hardware?

sarcasm on/ I won't consider anyone the real Atari until the headquarters are relocated to 1265 Borregas ave, Sunnyvale, CA 94089. sarcasm off/ Unfortunately Google owns the property now and it might be a bit pricey. At least they commissioned a sculpture to commemorate Atari. Although it seems like more of a reference to Space Invaders or Laser Blast (maybe the UFO in Asteroids).

From the original releases: Asteroids Ballblazer Centipede Food Fight Galaga I always liked the games that added two player cooperative modes. It made it easier to enjoy games with my sisters.

What commercially released 7800 games deserved a sequel?

I agree and the original controller also made my hand cramp. I always wanted an original CX40 with two buttons. The second button could go on the front below the regular button. It may need a switch to change modes, I count 4 options: 1. Both Active (Default) 2. Switch the function of each button (Only affects two button games) 3. Only top button Active 4. Only front button Active

After reading the Atari description and several old threads on Atariage, I believe it is slightly different. The description mentions the robots being able to shoot diagonally which appears to be a later hack of the store version. It will be interesting to see how the work is acknowledged.

The new Atari 2600+ w/HDMI out and 2600/7800 support

I'm not very excited about the lack of compatibility for the modern 2600 games, but will consider this for playing my old 7800 games if we can get confirmation that it will work with the two button controllers. -
Douglas Gene Carlston was one of the founders and first CEO of Broderbund Software.

This thread has been fascinating. Here are a couple corporate things I dug up on Control Video Corporation: 1. It was incorporated in Delaware on September 14, 1982. Any additional information is hidden behind a fee structure. 2. There is an approved FCC application online submitted by Ray Heinrich, who appears to be an engineer that worked for them and then later the company that became AOL.

So...I found a copy of Cat Trax today for the 2600
Atari_Warlord replied to TheVgaTv's topic in Atari 2600
It's interesting that the art work is different from the Emerson Arcadia Cartridge, but definitely looks like it was done by the same person. I went down the internet rabbit hole looking for information on the artist, but didn't find anything. I did find an interesting SEC filing that provided some information on Universal Appliance Limited. On page 9: One of the establishing partners was Arthur Liu in 1972. His background was engineering and he sold his shares in 1990. It appears he had a daughter around 1980ish (Amy Liu) who was a art director at the time of the SEC filing in 2007. She is currently listed as a freelancer on LinkedIn. Pure speculation, but I wonder if she got her artistic talent from her mom? I also wonder who the other establishing partner is? -

Just for fun I pulled the Trade Mark registration in the attached PDF. The attorney who filed was Harold Novick of Larson & Taylor in Arlington, Virginia. It looks like this firm merged with Stites & Harbison in 2004. 73368936.pdf -
slower-paced or strategy Atari 2600 games?

The homebrew Jammed is a fun puzzle game that would fit the strategy category. -

Star Castle = 8,110 My score kept getting worse the more I played, so the first try ended up being my best for now. -

Champ Games - RobotWar: 2684 (aka Robotron:2084), 2600

I finally got a chance to play this yesterday with a friend. This game is phenomenal! We had a blast playing the co-op mode and seeing how far we could get. With so much action going on we adopted a strategy of going to opposite sides of the screen to keep from getting mixed up on which character we were playing. There's just something about the 2600 that modern consoles can't match. It's probably just nostalgia, but the look and feel of the carts mixed with the anticipation when you first slide a new game in and flip the switch is fun. Now days when I slide the disk in I get a feeling of dread wondering how long the download to fix the game will be. We used the Quadtari for the first time and a couple of the custom pads from RetroGameBoyz. -

Eventually there is a list of items you can buy with the money you earn doing the daily tasks. One of them is a better safe that doesn't have the manual lock. There are still a few things I wish could be improved. The item that is supposed to reduce the machine breakdowns doesn't feel like it does anything and ends up feeling like a waste of money. Why can't I pay the kid that empties the machines to clean the place (and maybe fix the machines)?

Ran across an old interview on Digitalpress from someone that wrote the manuals and said that the game was not solvable and a worse punishment than prison. Is everyone that worked on this passed away now?
