Jumping becomes very important from the fifth island onwards. Time your jumps so you manage to keep far enough away from the left side of the screen so you don't get bonked, and then hope that you can pick up a white hankie. Once you do, run as fast as you can to get to the right side of the screen!

For me, I have no problem with the invisible levels now. It's the ones after them - specifically those green spinny things! I just can't seem to stop getting wiped out by them. If I can replenish my shield/bases enough to protect me a bit more, that will help, but this game could really do with a hyperspace button like in Astrosmash!

I'm not sure what Intelligentleman's method is, but I thought I'd have a quick go to see what the game's like. I've never played it before amazingly enough, though I used to love playing Track & Field and Hyper Sports at the arcade! So, these are probably rubbish scores, but someone has to go first! ? 100m: 12.74s Triple Jump: 8.59m Javelin: 62.12m

Thanks Rick! That was the first time I managed to play that level without having my base destroyed. I was surprised I had so many ships remaining - usually I mis-time it and lose all my ships because the squadrons arrive at the enemy fleets at the same time and get decimated. This time it worked out pretty well and I didn't have to rely on the computer to fight for me.

I'm giving Space Battle a go now. I do remember playing this game - it always used to make me think of Battlestar Galactica, protecting the Battlestar from the Cylons! ? Just so I'm clear on the scoring for this game though - are we saying there are 4 difficulty levels or 5? I can understand that Blue is 3, White is 2, Gold/Yellow is 1 and Disc is 4, but how do you play level 5? Surely the best possible score is 4-9, or am I missing something? (Edit: Just read the instructions again - Super advanced speed is the Blue Return to Base key, so that's level 5!) Blue difficulty, 6 ships remaining so: 3-6

I remember playing Space Battle when I was a kid, but I don't think I ever owned it so I must have just rented it from the local video shop or something. I'll give it a try soon and see if it rings any bells! I'm not even going to try playing Bomb Squad - I tried reading the manual and it made no sense to me whatsoever! ? Space Armada: 33,960

Managed to improve my times a bit and unlock Course 3! I'd forgotten how fun this game is, but I think these'll be my final times for this round: Course 1: 86 secs Course 2: 93 secs Course 3: 60 secs -
Intellivision HSC Season 15 - Game 2 - Motocross

I've learnt the problem with my Ultimate Flashback is a bad controller board. Byte Knight is sending me a new one (top man!) but until that arrives, I thought I'd give Motocross a go on my original hardware. Please excuse the crazy psychedelic colour scheme for my course 1 time(!) - it's hard to tune it in properly on my TV. Here's my best so far: Course 1: 93 secs Course 2: 98 secs -

Ultimate Intellivision Flashback gamepad issue
gezkc replied to gezkc's topic in Intellivision / Aquarius
Thanks guys. It turns out the controller board has stopped working (LED on the underside is not flashing). Byte Knight is kindly sending me a new one so that should hopefully fix the problem.- 5 replies

Hi guys, I've got an Ultimate Intellivision Flashback, which is a Flashback that has the internals replaced with a Raspberry Pi, and have never had any problems with it. However, this week it suddenly started coming up with "No gamepad detected" when I boot it up. I'm just using the standard Intellivision Flashback controllers (as I always have done) so I don't understand why it's suddenly stopped recognising them. I've tried pressing 0 on the controllers to try to get them to register with it, but nothing happens. Does anyone know how I can get it to recognise my controllers again? I'm trying to take part in this season's Intellivision HSC so you can understand how urgent this is!! ? Edit: BTW, I've checked the internal connections and it doesn't look like anything's come loose. Any help will be much appreciated. Many thanks, gezkc
