Why does every ancient site such as Stonehenge have to with religious or calendar events? What will anthropologists think the Golden Arches are in the future?

  I used to work at a complex with a large paved compass rose between two of the buildings. Once the buildings are gone, idiot archaeologists will assume the place's purpose had something to do with that alignment to true-north, or even find some time in history when the stars/planets lined up just so with it and assume that's the date its from. Stonehenge was probably a super-popular burger joint.
