  1. Hope you didn't get the Asian Bird Influenza that is making it's rounds again. Not nice stuff. Yuck.
  2. Nice job, man. This should do it for those that want to tackle the task.
  3. Thank you.I'm sure that will help others that haven't asked about it here before, like so many that did last year.Still taking a Lynx unit apart for stuff can be a pain, you just have to be patient and careful with all the screws at times.
  4. There is also an invicibility cheat on this I've used to play for a bit.Otherwise, you have to eat the soldiers and food ojects you need to keep your health up.Good luck.Rampage is fun, just a bit drawn out and dull without 4 players to make it more entertaining.
  5. In no such way,my good man.I just see it all around me in my hometown and country on a daily basis. And most don't seem to understand why they are going bankrupt or losing their car or house now.I'm 49 now and still afloat like a few others I know. Why?By being careful. Contingency planning for the future.
  6. Yeah, but it is only good with still screens usually as it slows things to a crawl.Unless, you use some code cheats.I believe, you are referring to "display list interupts" or "hardware list iterupts" that the Atari computers used years ago in the 80s or 90s. We also received the Lynx "Hi-Color Mode" from a guy in Europe who's name escapes me now a few years ago that was used on Lynx Reloaded and stuff.
  7. I agree now that it is sort of a moot point and all,I was just raised to make plans for any contingency on most things to avoid problems and disappointment in the future."Poor planning provides poor performance" and all,you know?Maybe that's silly to some that live by the seat of their pants out there that I see in my country and are losing their ass now in this economy on a daily basis. Just the truth. That doesn't speak for everyone though.
  8. I've not played that and i don't have a PS3 and I was hoping to see it on my Vita as well, just I've been hearing it is a disappoinment like MAG turned out to be. :( Pity too.Star Wars: The Force Unleashed 2 turned out bad on PS3 and I thought the first PSP version was pretty nice to play really.I was really disappointed when they killed SW:TFU 2 for PSP just before the release date as I was really looking forward to it.
  9. This is looking good! Just need to bring the graphics up a bit to Lynx standards and we'll probably have a winner.
  10. That sounds great on the surface there, but how few bucks in these unsure and tight times in the world? My precise point with Atari dealers or Atari enthusiasts. Also, shipping for most things in my country are a killer issue,FAR WORSE if you're dealing with overseas shipping in my country and the customs issues that come with it. I've heard the stories from those that have had to do it and pass the cost on for a customer. Not pretty in these times of business. If you're in business like me and others I know out there, you know about it. I'm not trying to be a smartass or anything on this, just giving facts that we're going to probably be dealing with on this.
  11. Nice topic and nice find!Never seen or heard of these before. These never made it to the States at all,at least not anywhere I ever looked and shopped for Lynx stuff... But some odd things happened for the overseas Lynx owners in Europe and Japan than we only later saw after Atari bit the dust as we knew it,too.Best Electronics never found these or carried them like some things they've carried over the years.A real pity.
  12. Yes,I know that fact, man. That fact is,most folks out there are machanically inept about many things. Have you not noticed? Most are not Do-It-Yourselfers out there on things like me and you. I'm not afraid to tear down a car or a Lynx or a VCR or whatever is needed to get it done and serviced. Why do you think service centers exist for in or out of warranty items? Most people have no idea what to do or where to start on their stuff. Many also don't care or want know how, either.
  13. This is looking great here! Thank you. Uh,my only concern is,I think, that it is also starting to look rather expensive and most folks haven't recognized that fact yet...... The boards look fantastic! The screen looks really great installed and seems to fit very well, too.Just my thoughts are that this is looking like only a thing a diehard Lynx owner like me out there would want to do a Lynx unit they have. Also, most Lynx owners I've run into don't even know how to open up or service their unit(s) like I have done for myself and others that have asked me to service or clean theirs.Just a thought. The componentry is looking a little on the side of the Neo Geo Gold or the PSVITA and may scare many folks off with the complexity of it on the surface. Many may want a turn-key unit from Best Electronics,B&C ComputerVisions,Video 61,Songbird or from Tursi to avoid personal hassles but, there you're starting to get into a retail environment and you'll be starting to limit your audience quite a bit from a selling standpoint.A $150/200 dollar premium on top of a new or reconditioned Lynx unit will be more than most folks shopping with B&C and etc.will probably be willing to swallow to get a supposed Lynx 2.5 or whatever here.It won't be a problem for us Do-It-Yourself types out there like me. Most aren't that type of owner/user in my experience though with Lynxes or other units out there. After the prototyping stage things may change some on this but,I think we'll need a run of at least 500 units if a productioin run happens from Tursi (or someone else) to make this a viable thing for all to swallow that could potentially buy a kit or a ready made unit.Just my 2 cents worth on a pretty nice project so far.
  14. Thank you for that, man.Nice article.I never saw or read that one. Well,I think, that George brought some stuff on himself in many ways, just like Michael Jackson did,as well.I'm not taking sides here! Being reclusive and eccentric in "Hollywood" or whatever isn't always good.It does sometimes get you noticed though! If you breed hate and discontent among folks out in the world,it usually gets you bit in the butt eventually.George's problems began back in the 1980s though,as I remember those days then.I remember the article in the Chicago Tribune that I read back then in 1984/85/86 (still have it,too!nice article, you should look it up),that stated he (George) had announced that new Star Wars movies were coming every 2 years for the next 20 years. They never came.Well,to be fair, they sort of came in 1999,2002 and in 2005.Also,the animated Clone Wars series and movie arrived later on.Nice stuff in some ways and all, just not the 10 movies I was told to expect those some 20 years before! Am I or other fans out there being too picky?Possibly.Possibly.I'm also a man of my word, too.Just like George supposedly is.I'm told that anyway. I'm not a fanatical fan, but,I like people to keep their promises to me like others out there do.I'm not into hate sites or hate mail sites, either.I just sort of think George let me down all those days ago in like 1985.I'll bet there are others that are fans and 49-ish like me that feel a little let down, too.I'm not trying to dump on George or take sides against him here.Enough said...
  15. Yeah,George himself had been slowly shuttering the operation since before or following the release of Ep. 3.He was slowly phasing Skywalker Ranch out in some spots altogether. In the later days here,I think,George just used it to license and broker his SW ideas out to Rebellion and Krome Studios and such that were interested in doing an SW title for whatever reason. I do think it is sad that it got killed off because it seems a bit like George is abandoning his SW past and fans for his retirement. If so,this is truly sad for all.Time will tell. Also,in the end,I don't much like the fact that Disney (or had it been any other studio or holding company) bought up Lucasfilm Ltd/THX/Sprocket Systems/ILM/Matte World because, when a company or corparation sells out to another one,it usually spells doom for the stuff that is being absorbed by the buyer. They usually grab all the good IP stuff/employees/tech it offered them by buying it up and whatever was good about it in any way usually is destroyed when it is integrated in the new company owning it or formed to house the new operation they aquired. It happenens every day/every other day out there in the world and the U.S.I personally, don't care to see a new "Star Wars World" opening within Disneyland or Disney World out there.I'm thinking that Lucas will REALLY REGRET selling to Disney on this after a bit.I think,Disney will truly cheapen Stars Wars up with licensing and other crap by overkill in the end with the new movies and themed rides at the parks and new merchandising. If you thought Lucas was bad about managing his SW vision and IP,you ain't seen nothing yet.Watch it come to pass.Don't say I didn't warn you! I sense a whole heap of bad crap brewing here on this.........
  16. For me it was Rock Band: Unplugged by Backbone Entertainment on PSP. I think of Rebellion for SW stuff in my old PSP days on that (for Battlefront). Or also,Krome Studios for SW: The Force Unleashed
  17. I don't pay attention to who publishes a title,I look at who the developer is on one. A publisher is just a name to me that I recognize at times.I look at the title and graphics and features before I buy.If the developer is one like Rebellion or someone I recognize it may sway me me to buy it or not.But I love nice graphics and features. But yes, Lucasarts wasn't the one doing stuff on the games i was buying with the SW name on them,it was Krome Studios or Rebellion or someone else.Lucasarts just got the publisher credit along with the developer of the stuff I loved playing.Lucasarts may've licensed and helped finance the effort but, they weren't the developer that coded it.They may've helped supply image stock too on it.Lucasarts/Lucasfilm has a HUGE achive of SW images and sound samples to offer a developer out there.
  18. In an available production run,I would take a couple of each version,a couple of friends would do the same that don't know about this yet here. I wish I had chip programmers,I would go for one of each to help support this effort. Let me know when you folks are ready with these kits to sell!
  19. Yes,i agree there. But,should we want to upgrade to a PSP Go screen or an OLED one in the future,is that at all possible here? The original Lynx screen has since been upgraded here nearly 25 years hence and I cannot believe this upgrade will be set in stone here, either. At least, not with us tinkering types! ^^
  20. It was not. I was speaking for Lynx posterity. On the second thing,I agree with you.
  21. Yes sir,I have since July 1990 with my first Lynx I unit. Also,I got my first Lynx II in July/August 1995. The old style LCD panels usually had a viewing angle of 30 degrees in the 1980s and 90s,the passive matrix ones most especially.Active matrix ones like my Turbo Express has were a bit better than that in my experience. The active matrix were the best till the OLED ones came along.IMHO
  22. Candle, what about using a PSP-3000 LCD panel or a PSVITA type OLED panel??Are they that much more expensive? If we're going to "modernize" a Lynx screen, let's do one up right for the times here. No offense meant to you or your efforts so far. Also,I've found "back up camera" LCDs seem to suffer from viewing angle problems still like the Lynx's screen does. The PSP-3000 had a small amount of it at times and the PSVITA I have now suffers from it not at all. What do you think,Candle? Also,I'm not sure TV out is a big thing here, most never used it or liked it on the Nomad,PSP-2000,3000 or Go units. Many complained out there about aspect ratio and/or screen quality when compared to the native image they had on their units. Some graphics were too tiny, too. Just my 2 cents worth.
  23. That's cool, man. My aunt lives in FL. Yeah, snakes can be a prob there!
