Hi there, The run and load adresses of the .cof file are found by ULS (4000 for both) and the game can easily be burnt with Discjuggler. As said it is a race against the clock and the more you drive on the stars the more speed you get. There are not only stars but other items in the pipe like warps or volcano lava... Here are some screenshots I just made few minutes ago:
  2. Orion already answered me that it was not so simple to compare the sizes of a CD and of a cartridge: the game on cartridge has to be fully loaded in the Jag Ram. Tools like Jiffi and ULS allow easily to put homebrews on CD but sill up to the size of the ram. Orion said that he tried previuously to put together code and Cinepak on a CD and the result was not reliable as the game was often crashing. Putting the musics on CD as an add-on to the game on cartridge seems to be unrealistic too as there is no existing game like that on Jaguar. Iam afraid the game will be only available on cartridge and without music but let see: Orion is experienced on Jaguar programming and can surprise us even more
  3. Considering a CD is easier to duplicate, cheaper and offers far more space than a cartridge, what"s about the idea of releasing the game on both media? It could be a minimal version on cartrdige due to lack of memory space on cartidge so players who don't owe a Jag CD can access the game and a CD version which allows you to include music and hopefully better quality for the pictures as a CD offers roughly 100 times more room than cartridges. If I understood correcly, so far all the pictures shown here are from your PC ie before compression. Eveyone is impressed by the Myst like rendering but any idea of how it will look like on a real Jag and especially with a high compression in a purpose of putting everything in few Mo? I don't know what would be the capacity of the cartridge but anyway don't forget Myst came on Jaguar on CD.

    Shoot'em up

Cool to see a newcomer in te Jag dev scene and as noone is perfect, the guy is french such as me (quality seal ? ) I am still surprised to read on a websites dedicated to Atari Jag fans some people who just criticize the work done. Come on, this is a first attemp to code for the Jag which is not the easisest system to code on the world Moreover,Dr Typo is releasing it to us for free so at least let's welcome him instead of starting saying it does not use the Jaguar capabilies... Let's welcome Dr Typo and whish him all the best with his beats
  5. Hi, What's about the idea of testing the home made homebrew directly on Jag CD, now we have easy tool than Jiffy or ULS? The very best solutio would be a Jag Cd which can read CD-RW instead of only CD-R to prevent having to burn a brand new CD-R each time we want to test the result on a real Jag. Special dedicace: Merkki pour ton jeu Shoot em up ^^ Moikka Turrsi; en tieda mutta ajatelen etta sina on suomalienen. On ranskalainen mutta asuin sumoessa ja pidan paljon suomesta. Valitetavasti en puhun sujuvasti suomea I catch the Jaguar virus when I get back to France otherwise I would have been very please to get to know you while I was Finland, assuming you're finnish as I suppose.
  6. Thank you Lars for turning your homebrews as donationwares even if I almost bought all of them. Surprisingly I am one of the ones who can't play Jaguar Mind because wether the official released CD or the image burnt on a CD-R, my Jag CD start to read the game files and blocks at this point. I still hope you will succeed in completing Eerievale as the demos (2003 and 2004) make me think to Myst on many points: nice pictures, strange atmosphere...it could be a very cool game to add the Jaguar's games library.
  7. Cool Thanks Kari for that solitaire game as our Lynx are still hungry
  8. Hi, Pay a look at this link: Here are the release dates of all or most of the commercial games. It is from a quite old website but maybe it can help you: http://www.metalstuff.com/area64/frames.html
  9. Just pay a look at that french forum topic: http://www.gamopat-f...ghlight=jaguar. You will easily understand it gives tons of links for homebrew files to burn on CD-R and art for CD and/or DVD box. Pesronnaly I like a Iron Soldier II, Battlemorph, lot World Tour racing in 2 players on splitted screen, Soulstars, Vid Grid, Primal Rage, Myst and many cool homebrews such as Downfall, Jagmania, Do the Same, the Orion Collection, Slam Racer, Surrounded or the impressive Native discontinued demo... Of course it allows to play the latest Songbird release: Robinson Requiem too. Starcat games are on CD too such as Bomb Squad or Lost treasures compil. Jag CD allows to play Cienpak videos as well such as Gone Nutty featuring Scrat or Big Bug bunny. All in all there are roughly 55 CD available (including simple but addictive games, cool demos and some very useful utilities such as
  10. Hi, somes figures found on the net about handheld consoles sales: I can't imagine Atari sold less Lynx than NEC GT turbo which was far more expensive.
  11. Hi, concerning an overlay for RR, I did it: please find it below: Result: Yeah I know...I am a kind of genius
  12. Hi, Funny to see that I wasn't the only one to find the CD box and art for Raiden released by Telegames very ugly. Here is the box I did for my cartridge in 2004:

    Mystery

By zooming a bit on the last pic, the content seems to be DVD boxes. 25 in a row x 2 rows x 2 piles = 100 games per box As there are 10 boxes..do the math It is cool for people who own a Jag CD. Maybe the ones who just despise it will reconsider their position. They will probably discover that the Jag CD is not so unreliable and not so expensive asout of order Jag CD can easily get repaired (a new laser lens costs just $20)
  14. I forgot to precise: most of the homebrews I burned on CD-R are encrypted which means burn and play. For the few ones not encrypted, you can buy a by-pass cartridge or use the Reboot (here are them again ) Jagtopia: is a freeware and once burned on CD it does the same job than a by-pass cartridge. The only difference is the price: Jagtopia will cost you a blank CD-R only when a by-pass cartridge costs about $30(+s&h). Homebrews converted into .cdi files by ULS are encrypted so it is burn à play. Someone said the Jaguar has some good games on CD. Only 16 games have been released on CD which is few but it includes Iron Soldier 2, Battlemorph, World Tour Racing, Primal Rage, Vid Grid and some hits from other console or computer like Myst, Space Ace, Dragon's Lair, Highlander: not too bad in interest! Last but not least: rom format is not supported by ULS and you can't burn rom of commercial games on CD even if it's a rom of a game on CD.
  15. Hi, If that can help those who own a Jaguar CD: here is a topic I created on a french forum to explain where to find public domain or freewares homebrews: http://www.gamopat-forum.com/t28292-les-homebrew-jaguar-et-comment-les-graver-sur-cd Although it written in french, it should be readable by non frencjh spoken people as the only things you have to know are the following: .cdi files are for burning with DiscJuggler (demo version 6 is free and suits perfectly) .nrg files are for burning with Nero: Demo version is free but works for a limited time only. ULS from the great Reboot group allows to convert most .bin .cof. jag. and abs files on .cd file to burn directly with DiscJuggleri: absolutely essential to put on CD lots of homebrews created to work with BJL. When you use ULS, the only thing you need to pay attention is to enter the correct load and run adresses: I give those correct adresses for each CD I burned succesfully. Once you know that just click on the links to get the homebrew files and Cinepak videos and enjoy. Personnaly I manage to get something like 30 CD-R and I am still discovering new homebrews. Feel free to use the cd cover and DVD box art I did for my own CD-R. Hope some will find the topic useful.
  16. Hi, May I say: what the use of ever finding a Battlesphere gold? Because of its rarity, it costs a lot of money: for collection purpose some are ready to spend with no limit but as a videogame does it only worth it? (especially compared to other Jaguar games) Asking yourself that question leads to a beginning of the answer...
