  1. I remember enjoying WWF Royale Rumble on the Genesis. That was fun, but yeah, anything after that felt a little lame to me. Extreme-G was perfected with 3 for the PS2. I never felt a need to go back to the N64 versions afterward.
  2. The 2D Zeldas did that for me, especially Link to the Past. All I wanted was more of that, and instead I got that clunky adventure game with hiyahs and some annoying fairy. It actually killed the magic of Zelda for me.
  3. With very few exceptions, 3D as a whole doesn't age very well in my opinion, so the N64 fails harder than the Saturn or the PS1 for having fewer 2D games. But I do think it's worth keeping for a few gems. One that I never see mentioned is Ogre Battle 64. The RPG genre didn't age well chiefly because the writing is certainly aimed at kids/teens, but also because they get repetitive quickly. OB64 on the other hand stays fresh the whole time. Its RTS-ish elements keep the game play actually engaging, and the struggle with alignment v. experience means that there are serious tradeoffs that don't really feature in regular JRPG games. I've maintained it as my favorite RPG for 20 years still. Other than that, Mario 64 is the only decent 3D platformer that still is fun to play. The rest feel like collectathon slogs. The racing games can be fun, but the Dreamcast and especially the PS2 surpassed it fairly handily. For those of you who kept up with consoles after the PS2, I'm sure there is little reason to go back to some of those titles, except for Mario Kart 64 (still the best MK game) and perhaps Diddy Kong Racing to a lesser extent. Likewise, Mario Golf and Tennis were fun, but there are better for those of you who got into later systems. GoldenEye and Perfect Dark were eclipsed by the next gen for sure, but they're not bad for nostalgia's sake. Yet it really does feel like nostalgia's sake. I can't even remember the last time I wanted to play those games, let Not much left after that.
  4. Round 2, and nothing has changed. +1.
  5. I love shooters too and Blazing Lazers is great, but it definitely wouldn't have had that mass market appeal that Legendary Axe or Altered Beast had.
  6. I thought about maybe Dungeon Explorer, but I worried it might have been seen too much of a Gauntlet rip-off?
  7. I think for me the Saturn (with a sleeker controller, not that one), the Genesis model 2, PS2 slim, or Xbox 360 slim are the best looking consoles. Turbo Duo I'd rank just below that. The Saturn, PS2, and 360 are all still modern looking (with discs and all). I wish more homebrew were made for the Saturn. It was the absolute pinnacle of 2D graphics.
  8. Just came across this game: Ken-Go / Lightning Swords. Never played it, but it's Irem and vaguely reminiscent of Ninja Spirit. No home port at all.
  9. Maybe because I was a bit younger at the time, but Altered Beast on the Genesis did nothing for me. Golden Axe had more of that wow factor to me, but I don't remember playing the Genesis until 1990. I will second Legendary Axe as a TG16 pack-in title. It holds up much better than Keith Courage, in my opinion.
  10. Taxman bought a bunch of SMS games from me. He paid quickly and everything went smoothly. Nice guy!
  11. These sort of lists are always going to highlight the most difficult of the popular games, otherwise it would be made up of a bunch of broken crap. I always treat these as "15 very difficult yet popular games," and a couple are questionable. In fact, it's questionable whether the author (Edit: in general, not singling out this person) actually played many or any of the games in question.
  12. Not saying I'm ok with these sellers, but "a fool and his money" is well known for a reason.
  13. I don't think the 2nd acts totally as if it's real, at least for those in the know. It clearly says "new" and mentions sending ROMs in. For anyone with a little bit of common sense, it's obvious it's a repro.
  14. They must have known what shape they were making this in, right?
  15. Master System games are gone. Added a few new things.
  16. Welcome to the Duo club! If you're having a modder recap it, you might want to look into getting a region switch so you can play both US and JP games (especially since JP games are often much, much cheaper, even those without the knowledge of Japanese, like shooters).
  17. Panzer Dragoon Zwei (Saturn) Clockwork Knight (Saturn) Metal Black (Saturn)
  18. Will you make any more of these?
  19. Bump. Lowered prices across the board and added a Saturn bundle.
  20. Yes, sure, but then I might as well play on a proper console.
  21. The Game Gear was my first handheld (the Game Boy was my older brother's), yet I can't play it anymore. It was great as a kid, but now I'd rather play any of its games on the Master System or Genesis on a real TV. The few exclusives it had don't justify what a battery hog it is. Maybe if anyone ever comes out with a rechargeable battery like the Game Boy Advance, I could get back into it again. That said, I did have a lot of good times with it in the early 90s.
  22. Just read the Texas Chainsaw thread. Just wow. The audacity of some folks.
