  1. Dunno what Myusa is, but scanning quickly I think the only one that's JP only is Final Fight Guy.
  2. For me, it would be 1 is easier than 3 which is easier than 2 (US, of course). SMB is easier to warp through most of the games and the layouts are easier to memorize. SMB2 is a delight in and of itself, but it really plays differently.
  3. How on earth could an Everdrive come out that didn't support Pilotwings or Super Mario Kart? Is that really right?
  4. Seven years later I will still say that 1994 was the greatest year for the Super Nintendo.
  5. It was my older sister who could afford it, but definitely Super Mario World. The NA launch still holds up today in my opinion: F-Zero, Pilotwings, SimCity, and Gradius III (despite the naysayers) are all excellent Super Nintendo games.
  6. That's a shame, too. So many of the great games from the pre-NES systems make an appearance on the NES as well. Even if they're not everyone's favorites, there's no denying that it sits alongside its predecessors (and competitors: I mean, the Famicom was released in 1983 after all) as part of a larger generation of video games. Now, I wouldn't want to it to overtake discussion of the earlier consoles, but it would be cool for more NES fans/homebrewers to populate this little nook of the forum. Hopefully more people who know a thing or two about NES homebrews stop by. For what it's worth, Micro Mages seems to be all the rage, though I wish Morphcat would finish Super Bat Puncher!
  7. RetroMags, too, which I'm surprised is still up. I thought it was shut down some years back.
  8. Is there a way to see what's available in the store without creating an account?
  9. Metropolis Street Racer for the Dreamcast did that already in 2000. I think they were the first to call it "kudos." It's really more of a challenge feature there, though. I didn't play any later games in the series. They could do it a more legitimate way, like making a quality game and charging for it. Pay-to-win games are inherently garbage.
  10. Jeez, people can't make comments about trends without someone a little pedantic going, "WELL AKTSHUALLY THERE IS A GAME THAT IS SHORT." Yeah, of course there is. But that's a strawman argument. No one is saying that there every single modern game fits the trends noted here. ?
  11. So the five I had in mind were: Astro Warrior, Power Strike I & II, R-Type, and Sagaia. Bomber Raid wasn't impressive last time I played, and I never played Cloud Master. I can't remember how well Sagaia played on the Master System, it's been years. I also never got a chance to play it on the Genesis or Turbo, but I assume it's better in 16 bit glory, no?
  12. All good, man. I actually agreed with you about him in that thread. I definitely get it, we can agree to disagree civilly. Hard to do these days, but I know it's possible! For what it's worth, I would say that every console suffers from schlock games. I just tend to ignore it. I prefer to look at what we do have and judge consoles based on the number of good games, and the Turbo/PCE has plenty of quality games. But more to your point, I actually find I'm less enthusiastic about some of that maturation. Overly complex scoring, collectathon-esque multipliers, anime and loli girls, and danmaku never really did it for me like short, simple, and sweet of the older shooters. There aren't very many Dreamcast-era and later shooters I love. We can both agree on the Master System, though. I think it only has about 5 decent shooters (and R-Type can be found better elsewhere, leaving, what, 4?), and because of their price I had already decided it was more worth it to sell them then keep them. I know Europeans love it to pieces, but that console just does not do it for me.
  13. Sorry, I wasn't saying *you* were picking on it, just that some people do. Austin above mentioned quantity over quality, for example. I was just piggy backing off your comments defending some shooters.
  14. You can find bad shooters on any system. Not sure why the PCE gets picked on.
  15. Soul Blazer is much shorter than the sequels, so you don't really need to allocate too much time to play.
  16. The community fractured, but the original forum was cloned, and there is at least one other where a bunch of exiles hang out. The TG community is still alive.
  17. Ah, that's it! I have a browser extension that forces every site to use https when available. This seems to be the first time a page was broken because of it.
  18. Are you seeing it in your cache? Whenever I check it, I get "Sorry! The URL was not found on this server."
  19. In less than a month, that page is now gone. If you still have that information, I wonder if Al is open to storing the information on AA.
  20. Oof, Neo Geo and shooters? I can see it for Sonic Wings 2/3 and Striker 1945+, what else is even good on that system? I heard Pulstar was good, but I never actually played it.
  21. Oh, yeah, I do have that, too. Side Arms, too. Terra Cresta II was one of the one's I had in mind for being too expensive, along with Sylphia. I'm apparently out of the loop, though, because I just learned my Terraforming is worth hundreds of dollars now! I'm glad I bought that when I did.
  22. They make plastic overlays/inhibitors that prevent shifting the stick diagonally. I've never seen such a thing for a joypad, though, and doubt it can be done cleanly.
