  1. When you said winter I thought in a typically overlooked thing: checking the AC voltage of the socket. The heater can make a drop in voltage, and a peak/spike protection device can help you to avoid random crashes.

Another theory would be that because of the time and manufacturing process, some chips can get oxidized after so many years, meaning the main layer gets too close to the ground layer and creates an overheat. One fast and dirty technique is to put a finger on each chip trying to notice a rise in temperature, and interchange the chips between your two Intellivision consoles.

Finally, before touching any chip, make sure you touch a metal surface to discharge yourself (especially if you have a carpet!). Many good chips have been destroyed by static electricity when the owner tries to reseat them.

P.S: I had to answer this as you were playing Castle of Death 🤩

If it is a pirate, then it is a pirate of the official one named: Nightmare! developed by Sancho... interesting, I never ever heard of such game neither of such company, but that´s what I found out on the net.
At this time of writing, I´m trying to find out how to pass the second level. I like the game, it´s fun and challenging, plus, it gots music!!

I was curious to find a video about the game.

One video couldn't pass level 2, but I found another saying that level 2 is beaten by kicking all enemies before taking the helicopter.

  3. Hi all.

At last, I've put together three new games in my digital store with ROM and PDF manuals (courtesy of the mighty @Rev and @mthompson)

And the games are... *ba dum tsss *... the crème de la crème: Castle of Death, Frankenstein's Monster, and Unlucky Pony's Adventures!

    https://nanochess.org/store.html

    Enjoy it!

P.S: In case you want a physical copy, please ask @Rev because he could have some lying around although I couldn't guarantee it as these games came out some years ago.

This was part of our master plan all along:  We start with a small forum, make a few boutique releases here and there, then convince Al to publish our games, and eventually take over the entire site and change the name to IntellivisionAge.

Today, AtariAge ... Tomorrow, the world!!!!  BWAAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!

        dZ.

I never noticed before! The initial and final letters were the clue!

    dZ -> DoofenschmirtZ

  5. Sorry for not being more informative about the status of the game, but I was waiting for things to get on track.

I can say that I've seen today the preliminary cover art and it is looking gorgeous.

You'll be surprised about who is doing the cover art. *ba dum tss*

PRGE visitors will be able to try Akalabeth at the Atariage booth. Indeed, Atariage will have an Intellivision console at the booth!

Edit: I forgot to tell: We have the blessing of Richard Garriott for it.

One tiny bug left.  The "Press Space" message that appears at the end of the game is scrambled if lower case isn't available.  Tested it with trs80gp -m1 -nlc ttris3.cmd

I've corrected it and attached the file ttris4.cmd to my original post. Thanks for the report!

It looks fantastic, but I think it needs something. Maybe the background changes as you progress, or is more varied? Powerups would make things interesting, too. Keep up the good work!

I've shown only the first stages. There are five stages each with different enemies and bosses.

    Nicely done.

Change the ORG from $4A00 to $5200 so it'll run under TRS-DOS and it'll work fine on a real machine.

TRS-80 users are likely to expect the arrow keys for control rather than WASD.

Oh my! Never noticed there were arrows on the keyboard, and the right address for TRS-DOS.

I've attached the new CMD to my first post.

    Thanks a lot!

  9. That's an interesting challenge @DistantStar001

Please let me know if this works in real hardware. I only have tested on emulation.

BTW, this would be my first game programmed for TRS-80.

    WASD control. Assembled at $4a00

    ttris.cmd

Arrows control. Assembled at $5200 for TRS-DOS

    ttris2.cmd

Enhanced title screen. Lowercase messages. Cleans correctly the screen for Model 1. Assembled at $5200 for TRS-DOS

    ttris3.cmd

Solved game over bug on Model 1.

Thanks! The music is composed by the awesome @Nyuundere

Two times! Wow! I'm glad you like the game. In fact I'm surprised by how many people liked the game.

  11. Hi all.

After one month of hard work, I've completed Thunder Soldier for Intellivision, a run-and-shoot game.

All started because I was doing experiments with parallax scrolling and it looked pretty good.

It has five stages and their respective bosses. Just shoot everything.

Soon to be available from Homebrew Inc.

In the meanwhile you can enjoy a video preview of the game :)

awesome and what about the pin-out of a cartridge?  is that something that has to be made by a PCB company or can a board with those pins be found somehow?   I'm thinking it would take a PCB maker to produce a board that could interface into that port.

It is pretty special, so yes, you need to make a PCB, or order one from @5-11under for a cartridge and check if you can adapt it to your purposes.
