Cool, thanks. Which train station? I'm from Philadelphia, PA, USA. When I'm in Amsterdam I'll be staying with a Dutch friend who lives on the 100 block of Plantage Muidergracht. Thanks again! -PongHit

I'm going to Amsterdam for 10 days at the end of the month. Does anyone have any suggestions relating to vintage video games while I'm there? Maybe a nice retro arcade? Anything else?? Thanks!

I don't get it -- how did (the new) Atari end-up owning Spyhunter?? -ph

Story? STORY??? -ph

Boxing?? Are you sure? The version of that video (for "Triple Trouble") shows them playing PONG with Sasquatch. -PongHit

I guess it's Space Duel or Asteroids. -PongHit

Hi Futuramaooy: Welcome to the AtariAge.com board. If the sarcasm of the previous posts was lost on you, let me explain: we already knew about the plug'n'play controllers because they've been available for a couple years, & the people who post at this forum are on top of new items like these... (In fact, sometimes they're so busy with their hobby, they sometimes forget basic manners...) But thanks for the effort, Futuramaooy -- I'm sure your intentions are good... -PongHit

On the new Beastie album there's a track with a repeating sample loop saying: "Put a quarter in your ass 'cause you played yourself." So that's 3 videogame references in their lyrics... any others? -PongHit

Wow, that's great news! What about 'arcade' Pong, & 'arcade' Warlords'? -PongHit

My PhillyClassic5 report: I was helping a friend with his booth, so I got there at 1pm on Friday -- the public wasn't allowed in until Saturday -- & I was there until 'game over' on Sunday at 5pm. Of course, PhillyClassic5 was bigger & more successful than ever before... At times, especially on Saturday, it was a SEA OF HUMANS! You couldn't see anything! I had to 'hide' in our booth because the traffic & crowds were just too much to handle! This is all good news, of course -- not only for future PhillyClassics -- but for retrogaming in general. Something I was struck by immediately was the corporate presences at PC this year... GameStop was there, & EB Games... And Nokia was there too with their N-Gage -- & every time I walked by the Nokia booth there was NO ONE there! NEVER in 3 days did I see any interest in the N-Gage. Videotopia provided 75 arcade machines, & QuarterArcade brought 25. The condition of the machines was WAY better this year, compared to last year... Last year a lot of the monitors were messed-up somehow -- the images were washed-out & ghosting, etc. But not this year! And there were SO MANY weirdo/rare things there! It was the ultimate retro fantasy... & I was lucky enough to be there Friday before & during the set-up -- so no one else was around yet, & I played everything i wanted to play... it was heavenly. AtariAge's section was even more impressive than last year. Those AtariAge dudes really have a great thing going... Howard Scott Warshaw was at the AA booth, & I had bought his DVD from his site a few months ago, & I remembered to bring it to the show on Sunday for him to sign. He brought copies of his DVD to the show, but they all SOLD OUT the first day (Saturday)! Also, from the AA booth, I bought the new Stelladaptor! If anyone here doesn't know what the Stelladaptor is (hard to imagine, but...) check it out now! It rulez! It's a must-have 4 sure! The Packrat booth & products are also very impressive & professional. Like AtariAge, they have lots o' new homebrews & hacks for the 2600. From another vendor, I picked up QIX NEO, a PS1 game released in 2003. It's pretty cool -- I won't go into much detail here, but if anyone's interested, let me know. I had Cindy Morgan sign my copy of TRON 2.0 -- & at her booth was a prop from the original 1982 TRON movie -- it was the fake bezel they made for the fake arcade game "Space Paranoids" that Jeff Bridges played early in the film. So TRON geeks must have loved seeing that. (I heard the movie's director lent the prop to Cindy for the show!) I loved seeing & playing the Ralph Bear 'Brown Box' prototype replica. And the Atari Museum stuff was great too. There were even some 'celebrities' spotted on the floor -- attendees! I saw this guy from the Howard Stern show wondering around, & as reported earlier, apparently one of the Philadelphia 76ers was also there (& he bought, among other things, 4 Atari paintings by artist Aimee Dingman)! So, this is more evidence of the growing interest in old games in the mainstream. To recap, PC5 was great -- the best one ever -- & I can't wait for PC6. -PongHit

Huh? What do you mean? -PongHit
-
Yeah, I know what you mean -- the crowds were oppressive BTW, that wasn't an EMPIRE STRIKES BACK machine -- it was really a STAR WARS -- altho it had an EMPIRE marquee on the machine. -PongHit

That's not the one I was talking about... And ICE COLD BEER isn't really much like pinball at all... The idea is to balance & lift the ball on a rod & try to drop the balls into holes that have various point values. Details here: http://klov.com/game_detail.php?letter=&game_id=10592 -PongHit

So, what's the name of that cr-razy upright pinball cabinet that was there? -PongHit

The snow stopped at about 8:30 this morning -- it's all clear here -- so come on down (or up, depending on where you're coming from)! -PongHit
-
It's 8:30AM here in Philadelphia, & the snow has already stopped! There's isn't much snow on the ground & it's melting fast -- the high temp today will be around 45 degrees -- so driving/flying is NOT a problem...! I hope no one lets the weather discourage them -- come to PhillyClassic! -PongHit

Hi: PhillyClassic.com no longer contains the price of admission... Or, if it does, I can't find it. So, can someone tell me the price? Is it $10.? EDIT: Nevermind -- I found the answer... Not on PhillyClassic's site, but on the front page of classicgaming.com: Admission is $10 for 1 day ($5 with student ID) and $15 for both days. Kids under 10 are free if accompanied by an adult (1 child per adult). Thanks, -PongHit
-
Well, let's see... They could include ALL of the Imagic titles... And the batch of homebrews they licensed. And maybe some Intellivision stuff, 5200, etc.? -PongHit

This year will be the 3rd time I've gone to PhillyClassic -- I can't wait! Some things I'm looking forward to this year: (a) Seeing & playing Ralph Baer's BROWN BOX! (b) Meeting Howard Scott Warshaw (remember to bring your carts & boxes!) © Buying a 2600 to USB adaptor! (d) Having Cindy Morgan sign my copy of TRON 2.0 (bring your OLD Tron carts, etc. -- AND the new TRON 2.0!) (e) Checking out the homebrews (f) Seeing/playing the Videotopia cabs (g) Dropping my girl off at the Joychix table (h) Seeing "Gawd," an old Atari mainframe . . . -PongHit

Anyone try changing ROMs in that new 2600 controller?
PongHit replied to Starman's topic in Atari 2600
I don't think those Jakks controllers are emulations using ROMs -- I think they're recreations. -PongHit -
Breakout &/or Super Breakout, I'd assume... and probably Night Driver, Circus Atari, & some sort of Pong too. Of course Kaboom would be da bomb! Let's hope... -PongHit
-
The other 2 are Xevious & Mappy. -PongHit
