  1. Centipede gets the thumbs up!!! Here are a few other points regarding game play: In addition to the spiders not eating mushrooms (compensates for having no fleas to generate them): Every other level starts with a segemented (rather than contiguous) centipede. Each segment generates a mushroom when shot. If I remember correctly, this is how Millipede plays. Spiders have four point levels; 300, 600, 900 and 1200 points!!!! This is definitely the coolest thing about it, but the 1200 reward is very elusive and often results in death! There is mild left-right scrolling similar to Raiden. I'd even say it scrolls about the same amount (15%) - just enough to be anno. . .(er, um) challenging! You start with 4 lives and get a bonus lives every 15,000. My high score after 'settling in' was about 128,000 and had cleared seven levels. Centipedes got longer with each level. Cheat: camp out in the corners and shoot spiders all day long - especially with no penalty for letting that final segment loop around . . .hehehe (I didn't use this method at all to get the score above). Despite the lack of fleas, scorpions and sound - it is definitely top notch. I wonder what kind of legal mumbo-jumbo prevented this game's actual release? Fortunately, it has been made available to us. MANY THANKS to those that made it possible!!
  2. Space War 2000 is a sweet game on the Jaguar. I've never heard of a Lynx version. Is this true? EOTB and RF most likely won't see the light of day- not with raw PCB costs over the $50 that most would be willing to shell out for it. Does anybody have the artwork for the 4/8M PCB's? I think the best hope of getting copies of either of those 2 games in cart form would be to make your own. L8A! Gregg
  3. Good info Chris. That means the only game I need the actual box for is Casino. It'd be nice to get the curved lip version of Desert Strike, but the label on it is lame (kinda like mine better), anyways. So the list is pretty complete, then? The only other game I can think of is Eye of the Beholder, which none probably exist. How many copies of Relief Pitcher are known to exist? All I can say is Lance better keep digging through HDs and find those 'lost' Rolling Thunder and Vindicators images!!! L8A! Gregg
  4. Got my order in today! Get burning!!! I'm psyched. Lance is a great guy to talk to - just a wealth of Atari info. I gave him a bunch of contacts for component brokers (shysters) that might be able to help out with the ROM shortage. Do you work for/with Lance, Chris? L8A! Gregg
  5. Okay, here's my best attempt at a start (per picture). 1. Ponx 2. Remnant 3. Cyber Virus 4. Championship Rally 5. Raiden 6. S-I-M-I-S 7. Krazy Ace 8. Alien Vs Predator (Proto) 9. Sokomania 10. Desert Strike 11. T-tris 12. Othello 13. Hyperdrome 14. Bubble Trouble 15. SFX 16. Lexis 17. Blue Lightning Demo 18. Fat Bobby Other that I know to exist: 19. Daemon's Gate 20. Centipede 21. Loopz 22. Road Riot 23. Relief Pitcher 24. Dragnet 25. Marlboro Go (Man?) 26. Crystal Mines II: Buried Treasure (complete) 27. Test Cart I know this is a sketchy list because some of the titles were released in the Lynx' Hey-Day. I know a curved lip version of Desert Strike was made. I'm pretty sure Raiden and Krazy Ace were, as well. This photo pretty much runs the gammit on card styles/variations. The bottom half of this list are probably considered the least complete (finished) games. That's probably why I don't own them. Though, Centipede sounds like a must have - too bad it's vertical. Can anybody add to the list or provide other interesting info?
  6. I own 224 Lynx carts, only 101 of which are unique. I own 2 to 4 carts of every comlynx game. All complete of course Tom 224!!! That is HARDCORE! 101 unique? Does someone have a list of all non-Atari released carts? How about Lode Runner, is that available on PCB ROM? How about where to get them if anyone is selling them? Thanks! Gregg
  7. Does anybody have any boxes they'd be willing to part with? I'm not even sure an actual box was made for Raiden, but I know for a fact that Casino once was released in a box (not a CD jewel case) and have been trying for a while now to locate one. I have the cased versions that I'd be willing to offer in trade, plus some $$$. From what I've been seeing, Hyperdrome might also have a box? Any insight would be appreciated. Thanks! Gregg Check out this cool tip for dressing up PCB ROMs. All you need to do is save an image (from the box/manual section of AtariAge). Then change the image size using a photo editor to fit onto the ROM. You have to fool around with it to find the best size, but it IS possible. Then, just tape it to the ROM using high-qaulity clear tape. Notice in the photo I made the image small enough to be able to trim it down to get a tape 'seal' all the way around it.
  8. Desert Strike is worth every penny of the $40. It's every bit as good - if not better - than the SNES version. Definitely one of the best games for the Lynx. -Gregg
  9. 15 of them? How many Lynx carts do you own. There's only 90 actual carts possible (including demos). I agree with patters98, I've got 9 of them and they're ALL unbalanced in regard to the pocket-width stitching. The nice thing is that 9 of them laid flat out (with carts) fit perfectly inside a Lynx kit case. -Gregg
  10. The best thing for the screen is Eagle One plastic polish. Replacing the screen is no big deal either. You can buy one online, I've seen them on a few different sites. Here's one on eBay: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...8&category=3537
  11. Condolences to you and your family, Carl. -Gregg
  12. Maybe by "bit-rot", you mean screen rot. Bad pixels? I've seen brand new Lynx units with at least a couple of bad pixels. I have a Lynx I that's as bright as the day it was first played. The screen is built to last. Exceptions to that might be exposure to temp extremes - very bad for any LCD. ROMs last forever, so 'bit-rot' is not a possibility. Perhaps you are confusing this with NV-RAM, which is battery backed. These are ROMs, not ASICs. Eeproms are subject to data corruption if the UV window is not protected - that is your only concern. L8A! Gregg
  13. Personally, I don't think the LYNX was meant to be played vertically. Titles held in high regard by others don't get my equal praise for that simple reason. Raiden is no exception - it is vertical. I experince freeze-up when the game ends and it's supposed to allow you to continue. About 50% of the time it will go to the red-screen of death. It's only sold through Telegames. Other than those 3 quams, Raiden is a recommended title for the Lynx. L8A! Gregg
  14. The Lynx boxes are alot more durable than the Jag CD boxes, that's for sure! Anyone know of anyone making reproduction boxes for games that don't have them (songbird releases, etc), or re-released games that don't have them (Raiden, Casino)?!?!?!
