nintendo's response revo specs vs 360 & ps3
Clock replied to Shannon's topic in Modern Gaming Discussion
I'm sorry but new platforms should be about advancement, and this console isn't going anywhere. Nintendo are making poor excuses because they don't wish to fund a proper next gen console and all the Nintedo fanboys are jumping as high as Nintendo tell them to. If sony made the PS3 the same specs as the REV then these same Nintendo fanboys would be pointing and laughing just like everyone else. Trust me, I am not pleased to see Nintendo make a second rate console - damn just what happened to them having the best console on the market like the SNES. 27% already have HDTV? that is going to be a lot more in a couple of years.... hell I already got one and am looking at buying a second. Its all about PS3 and 360.... same as last time. -
Lots of assumptions in this thread... Firstly only a very small number of 360s are bad... nothing unusual there for a technology product. Secondly (and I can only speak for the UK) MS has excellent customer support care, and if you have a faulty console they will collect it and give you a new one within 3 days!!! Not too bad considering all the retailers are sold out and these things are like hens teeth. Thirdly, the 360 is by far the best console experience ever, much more than you imagined it could be. (Well it is if you have a hard drive). I just get sick to death with the fanboys slagging it off, but they are already singing the praises of PS3 or Rev and yet these are just vapourware at the moment. Twats.

I played GTA: SA for the Xbox and it is better
Clock replied to Random Terrain's topic in Modern Gaming Discussion
You have to press 2 face buttons at once while pull on the triggers and use the sticks when doing a drive by....I only have 2 hands and I need 3. Crap crap crap and more crap. It can be done by pressing 2 buttons with 1 finger, but it's not ideal. It's still a great game, but its just the controls badly let it down at the few times you need them. I got as far as the flying tests and gave up, they are just too difficault and sucked all the fun from the game. Admitedly that is quite a long way into the game so you definately get your moneys worth. In fact I wouldn't be surprised if GTA is what promted MS to move the blk & wht buttons to the shoulders on the 360. Which by the way is the most comfortable controller I have ever used. -
Yes the Euro 360 was a big deal, unfortunately it ended 1 minute past midnight when I got the last one. No store can guarantee any more stock within the next 8 weeks!!! Whats the point in wast advertising money on something that the public can't buy. This is why 360s on Ebay are selling for very big money. Seriously, I can sell mine for more than double now, as there is this world shortage. I have already had many offers. I am tempted to sell it as I got the core system and there are no hard drives being sold until after Xmas. However the games are just so damn brilliant that I simply don't want to give it up.

One has to wonder why you were surfing that site to find this.

Ahem... 360 market place, you will be able to make money if what Mr J. Allard says is true. It works something like this, if you design a car in a game like Forza or some clothes for a character n a game for example you can sell it on the marketplace to anyone else on live. It could be maps, designs or maybe even music - who knows. Also the Xbox arcade is the best support for indie games now. 7% take up on on game demos downloaded and it's less than 2% on the PC. No other current console actively supports indie game developers. So for all those that bang on about sequels and lack of original ideas in gaming...then you should congratulate MS and their Xbox 360 for encouraging indie game developers and allowing them market their games. Of all web sites I thought the community on this one would appreciate this. Anyway my point is a console can make you money.

I do have a live account so that could be true.... in which case that's a bit stupid really. Anyway the game isn't good enough to warrant the monthly fees imho.

Saw a 360 in person for the first time today...
Clock replied to Room 34's topic in Modern Gaming Discussion
If you get the Premium pack (the one with the hard drive) then you get a silver live account free. I believe this lets you do everything except live play. That means free game demos and movies to download, emulation software and anything else that isn't playing online. -
He can't afford it. It was paid for by donations. 973695 If he genuinly waited in line for 3 days in the cold... that was his payment.

The broken promises of the current generation
Clock replied to sega saturn x's topic in Modern Gaming Discussion
That's pretty much the case with the old XBOX, too -- very few games actually used the drive in a useful way (cacheing, replays, etc) so the thing is just a glorified memory card anyway. Games like Morrowind or KOTOR would have been a lot more playable if they actually used significant portions of the 8GB drive for "installation" rather than a little data swapping. 973456 This is because MS didn't allow it... I believe that's all changed for the 360, so it should be a lot better. -
I don't see any problem here..... the consumer does have a choice.

xiii, same on all systems? other thoughts?

I remember playing this a long time ago on Xbox Live and yes the game plays sweet, but I think the multiplayer maps are a bit boring when compared to other games. -
http://smashmyxbox.com/download.php Now you can watch the video if you haven't already.... quite funny and it even has a playstation ad at the beginning.
-
Blame Japan - they think the Xbox is massive..... what the hell would they say to something the size of a regular DVD player? Didn't Sony do something similar in limited numbers with the PS2? Not rack mounted but it looked like regular audio equipment. Now that's what I want.

I really hope you are wrong with this..... however I have the exact same opinion Still getting one and I'll trade it for the PS3 if I am not happy with it. -
You can still play the Xbox version of PSO offline.

Yeah in the most part the Xbox version is better.... but the controls on SA are very dodgy. I'm talking drive bys and flying - worst - controls - ever - aaaaaarrrrrrrrrghhhhhh!!! -

Most peripherals end up with few uses, and just to even the thread out here area few on the Xbox... Steel Battalion Controller - ok there was never any mention or promise of any further use of this fine fine beast, but what a wasted opurtunity. It was just always supposed to be a small niche market. Any Xbox gun - very few gun compatible games ever made. Xbox Flight stick - but no real flight sims made on Xbox renders this totally useless. Xbox also has 4 USB ports but they have been so underused it's unreal. (Not helped by MS's policy of no mouse or keyboard use in the early years) The hard drive should also have been used better. Although custom soundtrack and live content do make good use of it. I just wish the games could have used it to give a better gaming experience. Now I know most of these are 3rd party peripherals, but they are still underused. -
I don't see any of them going anywhere soon, but if the PSP was more successfull (i.e. a lot less expensive and it could be), then that may have been enough to force Nintendo out, but that isn't the case. Microsoft actually started making a profit from Xbox earlier this year so it's not as bad as everyone makes out. The new 360 apparantly loses them $126 (premium pack) on every console sold in component value alone (add in labour, merchendising etc and it probably is a third). They will make the money back in Live subscriptions, Live content and games sold.

Well it's launched here on the 2nd so I will go to my local Toys R Us 5 minutes before they open and hopefully get lucky. I refuse to queue any longer because it's too bloody cold. If I don't get lucky then I'll just have to wait, and I will just have to make sure I pre-order the PS3.

Sorry, but I think it's really funny. Comedy is very subjective

Ok, so far I have seen two people on different sites saying other people are making such complaints. But I have not been able to find any of the actual supposed complaints themselves. Got a link so we can actually see what you're talking about? Otherwise it's at best hearsay. 970085 http://forums.xbox.com/530081/ShowPost.aspx Not looking too good is it.

The internet is absolutely rife with new owners complaining about freezing up every 5 minutes and over heating issues. Opppps I think MS has a few Q.C. issues to attend to. This is not good for those hoping to get one.... I hope the UK units are better.

Xbox 360 already sold out for tomorrow!

In entertainment news: In the upcoming romantic comedy the girl chooses the poor guy instead of the rich snob. This has been HOHUM 1: nothing surprising news Honestly, I don't think any system will ever again not sell out in the first week. 969996 Except Gizmondo which I think is still waiting for it's first sale
