  1. Interesting how? you simply can't end a post like that.... or we might start to make up stories of our own.
  2. But what does classic console really mean? It doesn't really mean anything. It's a bit like classic car, it always used to be a car over 20 years but that seems to have changed somewhat in recent years. I think I prefer the term retro.
  3. I think they become classics when they are no longer being supported by any software companies. MS has said that the Xbox will get continued support for at least a year or two yet, and possibly even longer if there is enough demand. I hope the other consoles get the same, and I see no reason why not. So it could be a while yet before they get that 'classic status'
  4. Not being a huge Sega fan I could be way wrong here, but I thought Shadow and Sonic were 2 different characters, that just look a bit similar. I.e. One is a hero and the other an anti-hero or something or other. Hence the gun.
  5. Its virtually impossible to die on easy so no fun can really be had in this mode. Seriously, just put it on easy and keep walking, no need to even shoot because you can't die.... I once completed this game on easy firing just 4 shots (plasma pistol at those Sentinals at start of one of the later levels - you need to do it just to progress) - I did it just to prove how pointless the easy level setting is.
  6. Err you really have not read anything that MS has been saying have you? The next gen is all about more interactive worlds and seamless play as well as greater graphics, but they can't really show off the new interactive worlds until the consoles are available and software house have had time to make proper games. As I have said in another thread, MS has not given time for game companies to make proper next gen games, with only a few weeks with proper developement kits. All the early 360 games will have been mostly created using a single G5 rather than the somewhat more impressive 3 X G5's set up of the Xbox360. The real next gen games will likely appear around september 2006. I wonder if Sony are going to make a similar error just to get the PS3 out asap, because lets face it the longer the 360 is out and the PS3 is not then they are losing valuable market share.... I always said this next generation was going to be very intresting from a business point of view.
  7. Seems pointless as a true collectable due to the high number being made, and it's pointless as a controller when the standard PS2 controller is better. Looks good though.
  8. If you really want that authentic Xbox experience then you really should consider this... http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/xbox-360-gaming-expe...1QQcmdZViewItem Sounds fab!
  9. Microsoft are selling the 360 at a considerable loss.... so how can that be poor value for money? I still say it's very good value for money at this moment in time. The UK has already sold out before launch and in fact over sold due to too much demand and not enough units. Not bad for something that actually hasn't had much advertising here yet. I just pray I can find one before Xmas...but that looks very unlikely. I personally think MS has made 2 big mistakes and a 3rd which will get rectified in time. 1st the standard DVD format is going to limit games - although it will keep costs down. 2nd the existence of the core pack (shitty one) means many developers won't make proper use of the HDD except on Live titles. 3rd none of the launch games will be that great because they only really make use of one of the three processors due to not getting proper developement kits until just a few weeks before launch. These early games will just improved and glossier versions of game types we already have. However on another point some mentioned earlier..... The 360 (the good one) does actually have a puzzle game on the HDD as well as lots of other goodies including Jeff Minters fancy light show, which can and likely will get upgraded through Xbox live.
  10. Personally I don't like the N64 - Not because of the games as some are truely awesome - but the controller sucks so much, it hurts....
  11. I'm having a good year because I've finished a lot of games which is unusual for me, This months success stories are Jade Empire and Sudeki on Xbox. Both of which were very enjoyable. I am currently trying to beat Playboy: The Mansion game which is surprisingly quite good - and not very hard
  12. I remember we had posters and standees for Sonic 2 when I worked in retail all those years ago. So yes they definately exist. Somewhere I think I still got the promotional Sonic 2 T-shirt they made me wear for the release.
  13. I still don't understand why people think it's expensive. In the UK the original PlayStation launched at £299 and the New Xbox 360 (with hard drive) launches at £279. Now considering inflation and the massive improvements between the systems and the Xbox 360 looks like bargain of the century. I can't wait to get mine, unfortunately I didn't pre-order, so it will probably be a week after launch before I get mine. Mostly looking forward to Kameo and Morrowind Oblivian.
  14. Isn't Obscure the game where a second player can join in at any time during the game? That is one cool feature - I assume its the same on both formats. I gave it as a present to a friend last year and she loved it (Xbox version), but I have never played it myself.
  15. It's very hard to turn away from any of them because thay all sound good but we have no idea what we're getting until it comes. I will almost certainly buy the Xbox360 because it's first and because I know I love the controller. I may buy the PS3 and/or the revolution, but I will wait and see how they compare to the 360 once they are released. That Nintendo controller looks very interesting, but not very ergonomic, which must surely be the most important thing in a games system. If I do buy one or both then I will like sell off the weaker consoles and keep the one I like the most, whichever that may be.
  16. I keep it to 3... Paradroid -(the best game ever on any system) Starquake Boulder Dash in that order.
  17. Errr, no mention of Starquake? was this gem not released in North America? That is definately my favourite ST game.
  18. I think MAT1 was very good an all versions. I certainly found no problems with the Xbox version. I also have MAT2 but it's still sealed as I just can't be bothered to play it after hearing so many bad things. I think I'll just give 3 a miss this time.
  19. DVD's, mobile phone games and Nintendo video games are just ways to escape real life - so yes they are all, in a way, toys. Anything that you use to amuse yourself can be considered a toy, regardless of it's function. That's just an opinion and it happens to be mine. I have no hang ups playing with video games and I consider them to be toys. I just don't see the big deal. Just have fun.
  20. I would say Xbox or PS2 are better for sports games in every aspect including playability. (although I've never tried sports games on the Cube) The current gen games have more intellegence which is the main factor in sports games. If you want multiplayer then Xbox is the way to go. Also it has by far the best Tennis game with 'Top Spin'
  21. Ok I've left it few days to decide on what I think of this new control system. Let me just start with the fact that I was very unimpressed with Nintendo and the Revolution, and expected nothing of any great interest, that mindset is certainly changed now. My first reaction was not good, I just thought how pap. Then I spoke to someone who recently went to Japan top look at this and he was wildly impressed with what he saw. He told me about the sword control before I saw that vid. This was when my opinion started to change. The more I think about that controller the more I like it. Stop thinking about current games as we know them, this is innovative and whole new game styles could be made to match these controllers. Here's hoping so. BUT... I also understand that Sony's next gen Eye Toy has depth of field control as well, and if that works well then that could just wipe out Nintendo's magic there and then. Should be interesting to see how it pans out. I do agree that it looks like it could be very tiring and only good for a 20 minute gaming session, but I am hoping I am much mistaken and this will be the great thing I am imagining it could be. But who knows maybe Nintendo will supply a regular control pad along with the new fancy pants one. Anyway, Nintendo suddenly appears interesting again.
  22. I think I would definately buy a new game if it required the use a Trakball controller. I just always loved that type of control system.
  23. I'd like to see, StarQuake, Elite, Chuckie Egg, Skool Daze remade.
  24. I might pick this up just for Bomb Jack - one of my all time favourite arcade games.
  25. I've only played the two previos Moto GP games and though they were really well done, I found them too hard to play. Yes I may be crap at racing games - but I seemed to spend as much time crashing as I did riding.
