  1. At some point, we all visited this thread for the last time...and no one realized it. until now.
  2. Figured it out... basically the problem is the firmware and the default settings in the bluetooth config. The new NES 30 Pro's are shipping with the latest firmware now (1.71) and the config in RetroPie has a default setting for a hack that works with the older firmware version, it just says "older" not exactly what version...but 1.71 is new (for now) and if you attach and then configure the controller, it makes a config file during the set up...and it doesn't jive with the new version at all, i assume the firmware fixed the mapping issues so its got a conflict if you leave the hack on. I just wiped my card and started over...turned the hack off before i connected and configured the NES 30 Pro...that fixed the issue. So if anyone has this problem and finds this thread in a search...turn the hack off before you configure the controller if you have 1.71 firmware lol. Seems to be working now...i've updated everything to the latest versions..Only issue i've found so far in MAME is Indian Jones Temple of Doom wont let me add a quarter to start the game...other MAME stuff all seems to be working. I've seen a lot of people trying to configure the aspect ratio in MAME, for me its easier to just adjust it on my TV itself...so I've been doing that instead of trying to fool with each individual game. Another thing I've got going on, the TAB key doesn't work like it should in game...doesn't bring up the config options in MAME.
  3. Thanks! I'll check it out. I set up a raspberry pi last night with retropie and emulation station. The games all work but I've got an issue with the NES 30 Pro 8bitdo controller not working in MAME I've got to figure out. The won't let me hit TAB on the keyboard to map either. I've read several threads on how to fix it but none have worked so far. Going to work on that today as possible. Things sure have changed with these old games in the past couple of years lol.
  4. Where is that located? Is there an option to see it? I've only got the 0.181 for a few days haven't gotten used to the changes and found everything yet. It's changed a lot since the last release I used years ago.
  5. Qbert and WOW both work also with the new speech...killer.
  6. Thats it! and it works! Thanks! now i've got the Gorfian Empire talking trash to me while I play hahaha....pretty awesome!
  7. where do i get that version? emuparadise votrax doesnt have it in the zip?
  8. I have put the votrax.zip in the rom folder with the gorf.zip file and even put the sco1.bin (i don't see a sc01a.bin file?) in with the gorf.bin files in the gorf.zip folder and it's still not working.
  9. so...we are talking about MAME 0.181 here...can anyone get Gorf to work? I can get the older version to work...but I can't get it to work in 0.181 with the Votrax improvements...which I have the Votrax files (I think) as required. That's the whole point of trying to get it to work in the newest release...supposedly they have fixed the sound files on Gorf and WOW...I haven't tried it yet as I assume if Gorf doesn't work then WOW won't either....fix one you probably fix both. Qbert would be an awesome bonus.
  10. ok so i downloaded MAME 0.141 and the rom I have works fine on it?
  11. It's the newest version of MAME (0.181) if anyone wants to give it a shot...try your gorf rom and let me know if you have any luck lol...it's gotta be something simple I just can't figure out what's wrong.
  12. <rom name="gorf-a.bin" size="4096" crc="5b348321" sha1="76e2e3ad1a66755f1a369167fdb157690fd44a52" region="maincpu" offset="0"/> <rom name="gorf-b.bin" size="4096" crc="62d6de77" sha1="2601faf12d0ab4972c5535ffd722b03ecd8c097c" region="maincpu" offset="1000"/> <rom name="gorf-c.bin" size="4096" crc="1d3bc9c9" sha1="0b363a71d7585a4828e08668ebb2999c55e02721" region="maincpu" offset="2000"/> <rom name="gorf-d.bin" size="4096" crc="70046e56" sha1="392214cc6ed4155bfe022d36f0f86c2594a5ab57" region="maincpu" offset="3000"/> <rom name="gorf-e.bin" size="4096" crc="2d456eb5" sha1="720fb8b48e20c1fc281d8804259016c3c5364a07" region="maincpu" offset="8000"/> <rom name="gorf-f.bin" size="4096" crc="f7e4e155" sha1="9c9d6d3bfee6556dc7a01de81d6148dd02f04fc9" region="maincpu" offset="9000"/> <rom name="gorf-g.bin" size="4096" crc="4e2bd9b9" sha1="9edccceea5af015275582553ed238c40c73d8f4f" region="maincpu" offset="a000"/> <rom name="gorf-h.bin" size="4096" crc="fe7b863d" sha1="5aa8d824814ee1c30eaf0044da78d3aa8220dcaa" region="maincpu" offset="b000"/> from the best i can tell...that's what it's looking for...and I've got all of those .bin files with those exact names in the zip file? I don't get it????
  13. i changed it to show the audits and its saying the Gorf audit on the rom is bad...but i've downloaded it from 3 different places and my old one I used years ago that worked i have...where can i find "what it's looking for" as far as the Gorf roms go? I did a google search and came up empty.
  14. Regular red box error. Nothing special that I can see.
  15. it gives me the missing rom or chd error. the info says "no bios" which i guess means it has no bios, not that its missing? the rom file has gorf-a.bin through gorf-h.bin I've downloaded the rom file from several different places...it's always the same. Dig Dug and none of the Mario games work either? which I've added all the Namcoxx files/drivers...also got the Bios and Devices packs and added them. I don't know if its the new version of MAME or what but I've been fooling with this stuff for like 20 years so I dont understand why I can't fix this haha....frustrating.
  16. I've been trying to get Gorf to work on the new version of MAME...long story short it's killing me. It's saying bios is missing if i right click on Gorf in the list of games. I've got the astrocde.zip file in with the roms...the gorf.zip file is in with the roms.... I don't understand what is missing or wrong here? I've googled it until my eyes are bleeding and it looks like everyone else seems to just load it up and it works? I don't get it? any help?
  17. I've got several IIe's and a ton of discs, various hardware...just a ton of stuff...and it all still works...and works well. What do these things sell for now? I'm thinking about maybe trying to trade around and get a IIGS or maybe a Mac...something different. any hardcore 2e fans still out there or is it a lost art now?
  18. I will autograph my posts in this thread for free via mail if anyone wants to print them out...just throwing that out there.
  19. Finally...after all these years and all the talk and rumors and whatever else...verification. It's a good day.
  20. http://www.nbcnews.com/tech/tech-news/e-t-cant-phone-home-yet-landfill-search-atari-game-n58256 just for archive purposes...lol. Most epic thread on AtariAge.... E.T. Can't Phone Home Yet: Landfill Search for Atari Game Halted New Mexico environmental regulators are blocking two companies from digging up an Alamogordo landfill in search of a rumored cache of what some consider the worst Atari video game of all time. Game cartridges for "E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial," based on Steven Spielberg's blockbuster hit film, were reportedly dumped in the landfill in the 1980s. New Mexico Environment Department spokesman Jim Winchester said Wednesday an approved waste excavation plan, or WEP, is needed before any dig can begin, the Alamogordo Daily News reported. "A WEP must be approved in advance of any excavation, and that includes even the city of Alamogordo," Winchester said. Alamogordo city commissioners approved the search in June. However, Winchester said state environmental officials have control of the WEP's final approval, and it was rejected Feb. 27. The companies haven't yet submitted a new one, Winchester said. Fuel Entertainment and LightBox Interactive recently announced plans to search the landfill for the game that proved a financial drain for Atari. The companies plan to record the dig for a documentary to be released by Microsoft Corp. for the Xbox One console. Filmmakers have even offered fans the chance to enter a giveaway of anything that might be unearthed. Catherine Pasciak, a producer for LightBox, said the company still plans to travel to Alamogordo, if and when the project gets approval. The filmmakers have already shot some interviews, she said. Atari paid Steven Spielberg tens of millions of dollars to license the wildly popular 1982 movie's name. In the game, the player takes on the role of the titular alien and tries to elude FBI agents while collecting pieces of a telephone to call E.T.'s spaceship. The end result was a huge commercial dud that caused the troubled company's worth to sink even further. Atari purportedly disposed of millions of game cartridges and other equipment by the truckload at the landfill. The area's supposed role as a gaming burial ground has snowballed into mythic status over the years. — The Associated Press First published March 20th 2014, 7:09 pm

  22. We're crossing over in to X-Files territory here lol.
  23. Wonder whatever happened to Spud...who started this epic thread.
