  1. quote Well.. they're kids! whadya expect? Sometimes it just takes time (and yes, age)for minds to grasp the big picture and appreciate some of the finer things in life *cough* give them a break
  2. strange as my initial email to him a few days ago got bounced back almost immediately ;P
  3. Ze_ro quote Funny.. I asked the same thing on IRC the other day. And there, good old Crossbow pointed out the simple fact that on the links page there's a page listed with the solutions and scans of the comics. Url is: http://www.tripoint.org/sq/sq.html

    Indenture map

yeah fyrepuppy, don't think that since no one posted any replies that we're not out here watching and waiting
  5. You'd get more fun and enjoyment out of ET imho
  6. I always thought chicks would enjoy Beat Em and Eat Em... an all time 2600 family classic
  7. Has a nifty cabinet too if you're ever lucky enough to buy the actual arcade game (as some people have..)
  8. I must say the page has indeed grown quite a nicely and is such a huge improvement over the "Alex never updates a darn thing" Nexus days Congrats on the growth. You're b/w numbers prove it. And to think I used to believe (in the 90's) that the number of people on the planet who were still interested in the ancient 2600/5200 numbered about oh... 50 or so.
  9. As far as the "enhanced Graphics" option in the pc version go. It's different for every game but to quote the helpfile: "will be enhanced by color plus greater detail and shading". Like for example when playing Crystal Castles, the graphics get sharper and more distinct almost as if you're playing a PC-remake... except of course, it's the real deal with a new coat of paint Or in Asteroids for example, "the graphics of Asteroids will be enhanced by a colorful space backdrop and objects will have subtle fading trails as they move." Other extras are like in Asteroids, Battlezone and some others have a "Trippy Mode": "Trippy Mode is a fun new setting available exclusively in Atari Arcade Hits. In this mode, all objects on the screen have trails, the screen color constantly changes and your ship will be given a small amount of thrust periodically to prevent it from staying still. This option is also available in the Asteroids screen saver." etc. etc. Almost all games have some kind of optional graphic enhancement or other. Of course it's all pretty much fluff, but still nifty to have
  10. Whoah!!! You're absolutely right! I'm trying it out in Word right now and it is GREAT!!! The Atari vector font is mighty! ;D
  11. Well I bought both. The things I noticed right away are. 1. The pc version has little optional "extras" you can enable. Such as enhanced graphics in several games like crystal castles, "tracers" or alternative space background in asteroids, or even color vectors in Battlezone! I think they're really nifty actually Tempest also allows you to play Tempest Tubes as well.. 2. The Dreamcast version has a zoom function where you can remove the border artwork and zoom the gamescreen forward and back to fill up your entire tv or not. I didn't notice it on the pc version however. 3. The multimedia User interface in both are different of course. I prefered the pc version. Quite honestly... I recommend getting both of them It's truly a great package and one well worth supporting.
  12. just some misc. personal ramblings... With all the 2600 postings here I kind of lost site of my one true favorite, and that's the 5200 supersystem. Before the web, the 5200 was the one true source of my obsessions and mystery which I think originated from the inevitable breakdown of the controllers during the height of my 5200 interest. Yes.. I still remember pressing "start" as hard as I possibly could while sadly & forlornly staring at the Joust demo screens... aah the memories Also, 5200 carts were scarce and hard to come by where I was from. I once saw a Defender cart, passed on it (my mom said I could only choose 1), and never saw another one for sale again. I dreamed about that Defender for many years after that.. As an 11 year old kid who loved the video games, the inability to find new games combined with the inability to play the ones I had, I think led me to never have any "closure" with the 5200 as I did with other consoles..where I played the heck out of them and mastered every nuance of gameplay. The only solace I had was with Space Dungeon (thank god) as it only required the "#" key to start and required no fire buttons.. so you better believe I played that sucker to death Of course, later as I grew older I was able to find substitute controllers and even fix up the ones I originally had (erasers work wonders on contacts). And naturally, these days I pretty much have every 5200 game I heard of as a kid, and the web offers up a ton of 5200 info I could only wonder about before. But I'm no longer 11 so... oh well It's never too late I guess
  13. whoah.. Cafeman I really like your site with the 5200 reviews there! Great reading
  14. Could you just provide us a direct url?
  15. Ooh I just had to post here that 5200 joust was my FAVORITE game for many years and remains my favorite version. 5200 Joust rules all! I even prefer it over the arcade I think it was the *ultra* bouncy ceilings and the quick flap to flight ratio that I learned to like better on the 5200 version (vs. the arcade)
  16. Nostalgic wrote: quote See what I mean.. I've been seeing comments like that since 1996 or something. In this day when almost every video game in existance has a walkthrough/faq at gamefaqs.com or similar, Indenture's solution remains a secret. I wish someone would just say it already or publish the solution as there's no way I'm friggin playing through that game again! heheh
  17. Actually that system on the bottom bears a very striking resemblance to the tabletop version of "Scramble" (the arcade game) by Tomytronics... http://www.handhelden.com/tomy/Scramble.html Thats the best pic I could find in a flash but I'm sure there are better ones out there heheh
  18. You can get a copy of Indenture (the pc remake of Adventure)here: http://www.classicgaming.com/remakes/ It's pretty darn good. However, the only thing about Indenture is that it's so darn big.. almost no one has solved it (or figured out what to do with the tokens). And if anyone has, they certainly aren't talking. And even though the game is over 5 years old, don't bother asking author Craig Pell anything either. From what I've seen, he apparently is still content to merely give "hints"... *sigh*
  19. oops yeah I see other references it to it later as a "mockup".. oh well heheheh
  20. ok what the heck is this. I realize that it's probably some fake screenshot, but I wonder.. hmmm..... http://www.atariage.com/catalog_page.html?...9&currentPage=1
  21. I dunno.. but I get a "funny" feeling when playing Beat Em And Eat Em... call me weird
  22. So.. what I wanna know is can is there a possiblity that perhaps we can get them from Hozer? Please say yes!
  23. So does anybody have the rom for the D4 P4CM4N? WHARE C4N i D0WNL04D!?!??
  24. What I would really like to see is Beat Em And Eat Em 2001....
  25. It was released for Dreamcast and for the PC. It has excellent emulation, optional game border art, a zooming function, and backgrounds to Warlords amongst other things which make it better than playing those games in Mame imho. And it's just $15 here in the states which is a great deal and well worth supporting.
