  1. Let me put it this way...... a can of Raid doesn't even faze this sucker. Thought at first I had a flaky cart but then did a little 'net research and found out my cart works as intended. The box is nice, though Mendon
  2. Doesn't the AR allow you to play import games on the PS2? The GC version does. Mendon
  3. Thanks for cleaning up this thread !! It gets so tiresome of trying to read an interesting thread only to have it dissolve into another war. Mendon
  4. Here is a not too good scan of the one I bought:
  5. Agree with the posts about "triple price eBay auctions for gaming show releases". Unfortunately, not all games appear after the show, from my experience. For example, I didn't go to CGE when Elevator Action was released; didn't even know about it until almost a year after the show. I wrote the CGE people inquiring if any others were available for purchase and was told no, they were all gone. Only copies I saw appeared on eBay and I wasn't paying the asking price there. Not sure if this it true with other show releases but it was my experience with this particular game. Will be interesting to see if more copies of Combat II appear for sale since it sold out at CGE Afterword: I attended this years CGE and there was Elevator Action for sale at the CGE table. I snapped it up. Mendon
  6. Thanks for posting this!! I ordered one also and found out that these are VERY honest people to deal with. I didn't notice that their system overcharged me about $2 for shipping or insurance (or both) and they sent me a refund via PayPal with a note of apology. I'll be sure to deal with these people again!!! Mendon
  7. Is the 8bit version of CC rare or uncommon, Tempest? Reason I ask is because I have 2 of them and after reading this post realized I've never seen them very often before. And mostly finished? You mean the cart's I have aren't the total game? Mendon
  8. I couldn't believe this Email when I got it.... I'm still laughing at it... some eBay people shouldn't be allowed to have sharp instruments! Mendon
  9. I can go both ways on this issue.... I like having a complete package with box and instructions (box insert if cartridge) and would prefer having it this way. But it also depends on the price. For example, if BSG came with the choice of a black cart or clear cart and there was a $5 or $10 price difference between them I'd probably go with the clear. But if the price difference was, say $20 or $30 bucks, I'd probably go the cheaper route. Same with Air Car's.. if it came with a nice box I'd be willing to pay more but it would depend on how much more before I'd actually commit. I like the packaging on Painter and was money well spent. I also picked up American Hero at CGE and am happy with that package, although its not as nicely presented. The package is nice but in the end its the games, man, the games. Mendon
  10. ACK !! My error; sorry. I never actually tried it on the Jagfest version I got. You showed it to me at CGE and I assumed it was on the version I bought. I just tried it after reading your post and you're right as the code didn't work on my version. You really ARE a sadist!! Now you want me to buy the general release also, eh???? GRRRRRRRRR Again, GREAT job!! Mendon
  11. Anyone pick this up at CGE? This is a great CD and I'm enjoying looking at all the commercials, many of which I've never seen before. Makes one wonder how well the Jag would have really done if Atari had actually had an advertising budget and played these as often as Sony does its PS2 commercials. If these commercials would have been aired often on national TV (not just cable) and if you could have walked into any store that sold gaming systems and bought a Jaguar (many stores never carried the Jag), we might be witnessing a totally different gaming world today. And I finally saw where Zylon Bane got his avatar!!! Mendon
  12. One word describes this game: INCREDIBLE !! Of course, I'm biased because I loved Amidar in the arcade and on the 2600. And when Painter was released for the ST it quickly became one of my 3 favorite games. And now Painter arrives on the Jaguar!! Everything from the scrolling Jagfest intro screen to the music, to the grid designs, to the names of the screens & passwords.... this is one quality piece of work!!! Gordon and Sinister Developments have done an fantastic job on this game. The grid layouts are very well done and show an incredible amount of creativity. From very simple layouts to grids that seem to fill the entire screen, Painter never fails to test you. And if these regular grids weren't enough, the game throws in grids with invisible boxes!! Just when you think you've cleared a grid, the level doesn't end because you forgot where one of the boxes was placed and now must run around like a madman looking for that invisible box with the enemy closing in on you every second. Gordon is a sadist through and through!! The way the game progresses is very well done as the increase in difficulty is perfect. The AI on the enemy is incredible and makes you think every second you play. Every screen has a simple password (and some of them are hilarious) which makes starting up the game from the last screen you played very easy. The music is very well done and fits right in with gameplay. The applause when you complete a level is a nice addition, as is the voice over that says "The grid will self destruct in 20sec's" or "Game Paused" Lots of nice bonus's also, like the Hidden game.... you guys have got to finish this game!!!! Can't say enough good things about this release. Painter is an excellent addition to the Jag library and is a game I'll be playing for a long, long time. Mendon
  13. I not be complaining about ya, robsbucs... just making the observation that there are some that go off the wall anytime an auction starts at under $1, screaming fee avoidance and whipping off letters to eBay. Mendon
  14. Careful, robsbuc's..... there are some here on AA that might consider your Chuckwagon auction as fee avoidance.... Mendon
  15. Buy it now for $.99 then $159.00 shipping.... total of $159.99. Might as well buy it at EB, Best Buy or whatever. Unless this item was a gift to the seller there ain't no way he's making money on this deal. Mendon
  16. Thanks, Raijin Z! What do you use to actually get into the cartridge port to clean it? I know there were some kits out there, like Doc's, that had multiple sized swab's that once you put the cleaning solution on, you inserted the swab into the port to clean it. Mendon
  17. Anyone know the reasoning behind the different cart colors on the Coleco carts? At first, I thought maybe it had to do with whether the carts were INTV 2 compatible or not but that doesn't seem to be the reason. Any info? Mendon
  18. One's I really enjoy are: Pac Man Arcade Skeleton + Berzerk Voice Space Treat Deluxe Yah, a couple are hacks, not homebrews, but I highly recommend them all. Mendon
  19. ....to clean carts and systems? I have many classic systems and carts (Atari 2600, 5200, 7800, INTV, Vectrex, etc etc etc) and was just curious on how everyone else cleans their stuff, especially the cartridge ports on the systems themselves. I've got a Mattel Super Pro System that is doing a lot of blinking on carts that don't blink on other INTV systems and was trying to think of the best way to clean the cartridge port without tearing it apart. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance!! Mendon
  20. Ummmm...... I thought the Gameboy was still cartridge based.. Mendon
  21. Is Carnival the only one that also came in white? Mendon
  22. I've been collecting Intellivision stuff for quite a few years and don't remember ever seeing a white Intellivision cart before (certainly not in my collection). Take a look at this: Intellivision cart From the picture, it sure looks like the long, slender Coleco style Intelly cart but I've never seen a white one before. Anyone seen one like this before or are my eyes playing tricks and this is actually a 2600 cart? Mendon
  23. I hope you don't feel that I've flamed you; wasnt my intent. Was merely having a discussion and we disagreed on a couple points. I thought that this was a very civil thread that never got out of hand and turned into a war like so many others have. We disagree and that's it. Hell, I don't think the moderator's even knew we were here.... One last point I'd like to make in all of this.... to everyone... before you go running off filing complaints with eBay or Safeharbor or whatever, PLEASE make sure of everything and have the facts to back up any claim you make. I'd hate to see anyone get ripped up just because it was ASSUMED that they weren't dealing fairly. Mendon
  24. And you're absolutely right.. we disagree and that's okay. But I would like to just mention that **I** do not like being ripped off on shipping anyless than anyone else. And I've had my share.... twice I bought "new & shrinkwrapped" games and paid like $5 shipping only to have them arrive in unpadded envelopes crushed and beaten to hell. And then there was the time that I won a Turbo game card and it came in a normal business mailing envelope; just the card, no paper, no protection, no nothing... just the card in an envelope. And I paid $3.50 shipping for it and it cost the seller the price of a mailing envelope and one $.33 (or $.35 or whatever the price of a stamp was at that time) stamp. Was I happy with any of these? No way. Did I leave negative feedback? You bet. Will I buy from them in the future? No way. But I'm not gripping about the price I paid for the shipping or that the seller might have made a profit on the shipping, just that they were NOT packaged in a protective manner. I go out of my way to protect myself now by sending an Email and asking the seller how they will ship and will they put the item in a box to protect it. If they respond in a way I don't like or don't respond at all, I don't bid. And if they don't live up to their promises, I leave negative feedback and won't buy from them again. Not much more I can do to protect myself. My main gripe with this topic was just that this seller was being ripped unmercifully and not one person had the facts of how the item was going to be shipped. No one knew what method of shipping would be used by the seller or whether the item would be packaged in a box or an envelope or if it would be protected with bubble wrap or not. Nothing was known about whether the $5.50 price was FACTUALLY excessive; he was just ripped up based on his stated shipping price. Totally uncalled for in my opinion. Anyhoot, we agree to disagree on some points and I can live with that. We were civil and I thank you for that. Mendon
  25. My point on this was that you stated that "you hated people taking advantage of others" and I simply was stating that from my reading experience here on AA, a lot of the members (not you specifically) who complain about "people taking advantage of people" on eBay are the same ones that will walk into a Goodwill, find a rare cart marked for $1 that they know is worth much much more, then post a brag message here on AA about their "find" and how much they paid. Taking advantage of people can work both as a seller and a buyer, and to me it just often seems that sellers on eBay are demeaned and flamed for doing this while others here on AA are complimented and given a high-five for doing the same thing as a buyer when they buy a game. If you are against people taking advantage of others then be consistent not selective. To me, it often appears in the posts here that what constitutes a good, fair deal is whether or not the AA member got a bargain. And on the point you make I still don't see what you are talking about when you say "people cheating the system". Lets take an example: I put something for sale on eBay.. eBay gets a listing fee. I sell my item... eBay gets its final value fee. It costs $3 to ship the item but I charge $6.50 (and clearly state this charge in the auction) to cover all my expenses and time of listing, packaging, and shipping the item. I receive payment for my item and leave positive feedback for the buyer. The buyer receives the item and leaves positive feedback for me. In the end eBay got their fee's for listing and selling, I got my money for the item, and the buyer got the item they wanted at the price they wanted to pay. Explain to me how in any of this the system been cheated??? What fee's have been avoided?? Enlighten me, please. Mendon
