  1. Okay... got ya, T-Bird. Now, shall I PM you my address so that you can send me a Battle Sphere Gold (and my PayPal payment will be right out to you)???? Mendon
  2. Out of curiosity... do most of you hit flea markets, thrift stores (like Goodwill), or garage sales the most? I live in Florida and one of the blessings down here is the vast amount of HUGE flea markets within 15miles of my house. I try to hit a few every month but haven't had much like finding anything lately, except for those RARE $10 ET carts...sigh.... Just curious as to how others look for games. Thanks in advance for any responses. Mendon
  3. Thanks to all for your responses to my questions; much appreciated. I understand what you are all saying; guess for me I got better things to do with my time than sit in front of my computer watching minutes and seconds tick down on eBay (no offense intended). If I want an item I'll figure the most I will pay for it, put in a bid, and take my chances. If I lose, I lose. Someone else will auction the same item in the future and I'll try to bid on that one. It is frustrating, though, to be the winning bidder on an auction only to have a sniper come in with 10sec's to go and win it. For example, I bid on a Jag rotary controller the day it was listed and was winning the auction the entire time. But then I lost it to a sniper with about 12sec's left because I was working overtime and couldn't sit in front of my computer playing "Kill the sniper" . Frustrating ? VERY... but I guess its a way of life and, who knows, I may have lost the auction anyhoot if someone (not just a sniper) came in anytime while I was at work and outbid me. Guess for me, its just something about losing to a sniper that makes it more frustrating than just being outbid during the course of the auction. And like King Atari I use the BIN option alot (if its not outrageous) just because I'm tired of being sniped. It is funny, though, to see an item on 7 day auction, not get a bid for 6 days, then be sold with 22 bids placed in the last 2min...LOL Thanks again for everyone's responses. Mendon
  4. MegaManFan said: Sure. Camp is what good/bad B-movies are all about! I can't tell you how many times I've been laughed at because I own "Eight Legged Freaks" on DVD. Might not be the best movie ever made but I enjoy it because its camp and a take-off on 50's monster movies. Mendon
  5. Enlighten me, people.... Why do people snipe?? I really and sincerely don't understand it or see an advantage for it. Why is it better to hang around eBay to all hours of the day or night watching the clock tick down to snipe something rather than just figure out what the item is worth and what the highest price is that you will pay and place your bid? For example, take this auction.... if the most I wanted to pay for this 7800 system was $50 and placed that as my maximum bid, why is it better to sit up to 3am to bid $35.00 on it? I've actually read posts on other forums (not AA) where people make dummy accounts and bid huge amounts as their maximum bid (with no intention to pay) just to lure snipers in to "teach them a lesson". I really don't understand all this sniping stuff... Mendon
  6. Thanks for the responses to my post; much appreciated. So, if I understand this right... if I buy Protector SE or BattleSphere, I can then use my PC to download Painter and Jagmania (or any other Jag files that are available), burn them on a CD using my PC's CD burner, and then play them on my unmodifed Jag? And does anyone do Jag modifications anymore? Sorry if I'm redundant.... I'm still a newbie... Thanks in advance! Mendon
  7. Just received Space Treat and Rubik's Cube in the mail. What GREAT games! What professional and quality packaging and programing! Thanks to everyone who had a part in the development and releasing of these two fantastic games! And Thanks to Atari Age for once again providing a place to purchase these items, a place for people to promote and publish their games, and for EXCELLENT service once again. I placed my order and two days later my games arrived, expertly packaged. Thanks to everyone who had any part in the development, release, and sale of these games. My hat is off to all of you. Mendon
  8. Just got my copy of Polo in the mail today. Am amazed and impressed at the quality and professional job that was done on the box, manual, and cart lable. I'm sitting here wondering if I should actually insert the cartridge into my 2600 or just put the whole thing in my living room display case for guests to drool over??? Thanks for a GREAT job Cassidy and Thanks for the supporting us 2600 lovers! Mendon
  9. Thanks for the responses.. much appreciated. Mendon
  10. Thanks for the reply Jaysmith... much appreciated. Mendon
  11. Thanks for the responses; much appreciated. I'm trying different things but still get a red screen quite often. As I said in my original post this is the first cart I've gotten that I've had any trouble at all with so I'm somewhat disappointed. Hopefully this kind of thing doesn't happen very often. Not sure if I should return the cart to the seller and ask for a refund or not. Mendon
  12. Just out of plain curiosity for a Jag newbie, why doesn't there seem to be as many homebrew/hacks for the Jag as there is for the 2600? One game I enjoyed on the 2600 was Amidar (or Pepper II on the Colecovision). On the ST I enjoyed Painter by Sinistar Developments. I seem to recall reading that there is a version of Painter out for the Jag but that you have to have a modified Jag to play it. Why is this so? Can't a game like this be treated like the 2600 homebrews/hacks are and burnt onto a cart, a lable put on the cart, and sold on AA? I'm just curious as to why there seem to be a lot of hacks/homebrews for the 2600 and 5200 yet I see nothing for the Jag unless you have a modified Jag to play them on? Thanks in advance! Mendon
  13. Recently purchased a used Kasumi Ninja on eBay and I'm getting the dreaded "Red Screen of Death" when I insert it. I've tried cleaning the contacts on the cart with alcohol and this will work as when I put the cart back in after cleaning it the game plays fine. But when I take the cart out then re-insert it at a later time its back to the red screen once more unless I clean the contacts again or give it the ol "NES Blow In the Cart" routine. Is there anything else I can try to clean the contacts that might do a better job other than alcohol? Don't think its my system as this is the only cart I own so far that does this. And it doesn't matter whether I'm inserting the cart directly into the base unit or going thru the CD unit. Thanks in advance for any help. Mendon
  14. Have no idea, T-Bird..... Mendon

  17. Whats a search engine????? Mendon
  18. A Lynx, games, and a carrying pouch in good condition for $24.99?? I think you got a GREAT deal. Mendon
  19. Please excuse another newbie question..... I see Battle Sphere mentioned alot and hopefully some day I can buy this game. I also notice that there seems to be a Battle Sphere regular edition and a Battle Sphere Gold edition. What are the differences? And if you saw BOTH on eBay for sale, which one would you bid on first? Thanks in advance! Mendon
  20. I'd like to add one point that I've experienced in the past in the USPS vs FedEx/UPS debate. I purchased an item of off eBay and got an Email from the seller that he shipped it USPS. About 5 days went by and the item arrived with a couple holes in the box, along with the box being crushed and dented in a couple places. The item was broke. I contacted the seller and he filed an insurance claim on it as I had purchased insurance. The post office came out the next day and collected the box. Eight days later I had a check from the seller refunding my money as USPS had paid him (or perhaps was in the process of paying him.. I don't recall). Anyhoot, while disappointed that I didn't get the item, USPS paid off on their claim very fast and without hassle (according to the seller). Now, a few months ago I shipped an antique radio to Michigan via UPS on 2 day delivery. It was VERY well packed with double boxing, peanuts, bubble wrap, etc. The guy I shipped it to sent me a Email after 3 days saying he hadn't received the radio yet. I called UPS.. they said they would start a trace. They called me back the next day and said they found it.. it was in Louisville, KY as it had been held up for inspection (under some new heightened security rules) but was on its way now. I asked about my paying for two day delivery and it had now already been four days since I shipped it off. Was told a supervisor would get back with me. Thirty Six hours later I got a phone call from the buyer (I had given him my number telling him to call me if there were any further problems) saying that he had received it but some of the parts were missing (I had included a packing list in the box) and the radio was damaged. I called UPS and they in turn called the buyer saying to package the item back up and they would pick it up the next day. They did... and then I got a EMAIL (not a phone call) from UPS exactly SIX hours AFTER the package had been picked up from the buyer (he had phoned me to let me know the status of the package) saying my insurance claim had been denied due to poor packaging. I called them (and was given a Louisville office) and asked them how they had determined this since THEY had opened the package for inspection (which they admit) and repackaged it and then the buyer had opened the package and repackaged it? They stalled around, not answering my question; I then asked HOW my package had gotten from Detroit MI to Louisville, KY in less than 6 hours AND had been completely inspected with a determination given?? They stalled some more and finally said they would offer me HALF of what I insured it for. After many threats (including legal action) I finally got my money back (but not my shipping fee's which I'm still fighting for) but it took a total of slightly over 3months and MANY phone calls to accomplish. Moral of this whole long post: Both UPS and USPS didn't give top service on these two shipments but at least USPS didn't screw around and try to rip anyone off; and they paid off on the insurance claim quickly also. I've used both UPS and USPS alot in my lifetime to ship things; my experience is both give pretty good service 98percent of the time. But after dealing with the lies and scamming of UPS over my radio, I'm not sure I'll ever use them again for shipping anything. Mendon P.S. Sorry for the long post...
  21. Sorry, Dirtboy, I can't help you on this. I just finished the game a few days ago and had no prob's whatsoever, especially like what you describe. I'm on IS2 now and its even better than the first, though harder I'm finding (MANY more enemies). Mendon
  22. FANTASTIC version of the game and the best $20 I think I've spent in a long, long time. Mendon
  23. I'm getting back into all things Atari and its costing me a fortune! In the last month I've bought a Jag, a Jag CD, 18 Jag games, and Pac Man Arcade (which I LOVE). Now all these new 2600 releases...sigh.... I waited until the wife-unit wasn't looking and ordered Space Treat, Rubic's, and Polo. I still want to order Alligator People, Apes, Galaxian Arcade, and a couple others but have to slow waaaaaaaay down for awhile. When my credit card statement comes in I might be needing someplace new to sleep if the wife-unit finds it before I do... anyone got a spare room cheap?????? Mendon
  24. Stone...heheheheheheh I'm a Lynx owner too but just never used it that much; not because I don't like it but because when I'm home I'm on the consoles or PC. I use my Lynx when I'm away from home and having to wait for something: for example when I go for a Dr. appointment because I know I won't get called back to the examining room until 11:10am even though my appointment time is 9:30am, or on a airplane flight somewhere. For whatever reason I rarely find an urge to play it around the house. And I agree with your ideas on eBay bidding.... I've found myself getting caught up at the last moment and placing a bid I might not have normally made. Lately, though, the snipers have been taking care of my bidding carelessness so I've not really gone over my budget.... Mendon
  25. Being a Jaguar newbie, I've got to say my entire Jag collection at this point. Its a small collection with no rare games in it (unless I put them all on eBay where EVERYTHING is listed as rare ) but it has given me so much fun, enjoyment, and pleasure in the short time I've had it that it is indeed a prized item.
