I can't argue the tenant's side of things, because I have never (thankfully, *knock*) been in that situation. When a roommate of mine was in this situation (Full Disclosure, Im in Ontario, Canada, ymmv), our landlord told myself and my wife that after 60 days it was the landlord's property, and if we wanted the room back, all we had to do was deal with the crap in the room. That's why I tell people that the parts to repair it would be more than what they want to pay, and they usually just dump their stuff on me. "Atari with a frayed RF? You can ebay the part for like 5 bucks shipped to you... " "Aww, I didn't want to put any money into it" Just last week I got a PSOne with 4 games... no power cord. Easy enough to replace, right? Even if not, 4 free games is fine too.

I have a bunch of friends in the US, and I send stuff to them and then drive down and pick it up. Usually when its video games, I just toss them in a box in the trunk, and say I got them at a flea market for 10/20/50 bucks, or I stay there for a few days and just bring them across normally. Mind you, That usually costs waaaaaaaaaaaay more than just shipping it to Canada, but, I enjoy seeing my friends in NY, MI and OR (that one costs a hella pretty penny )
