Fell Victim To The Infamous Three Red Flashing Lights!
The MilkMan replied to Charlie Cat's topic in Microsoft Xbox 360
I already mention this in the Rock Band thread... Add another victim to the RRoD. Purchased mine Jan 2007. -
What do I use to repair/glue on labels that are falling off?
The MilkMan replied to Fixitguy74's topic in Atari 2600
+1 I love that stuff! Nice even, thin layer of adhesive. Great for making adjustments when positioning. -
...sigh. this figures. I know many have dealt with this before. And I have even read about the blinking red circle of death. But still! I'm angry and frustrated anyway. It's 2007, isn't the technology there? Shouldn't we be passed faulty, flimsy, marginal products? I don't understand why this issue (360's going dead) still persists. Not by you folks here on the forums, but the fact that I'm being told... it's common, you should send it in...really irritates me. Dead 360s should be a rare instance, not common. Anyway, thanks for the input. I know. Anger and frustration about this very issue has already been expressed by many, so I guess, end rant. I hope the exchange will be easy and not add fuel to the fire.

Whew... I fired it up this morning and it came back to life, how long have i GOT?!?!?!!! Last night, tried RockBand again. Froze right before I could play a gig. Powered down (had to, locked up). Waited, fired it up again and decided to put some tattoos on....froze up. Third time, froze during loading page, 4th time... I got 3 red flashing lights. After nearly loosing my voice some screaming vulgarities, I powered it off for the night. I thought it was dead. Before I call Microsoft, I hit the power button this morning, got the green light, and ejected the Rockband disc. Tonight I want to put in other games to see if I get the same results. I have not had any game of mine freeze or lock-up the system before, so weird! Am I alone so far on RockBand doing this? (or is my console going bad, and it just so happened when I got RockBand)

Racing wheel price drop...worth it?
The MilkMan replied to Lord Helmet's topic in Microsoft Xbox 360
If your into the true simulating racing experience, get this wheel! You will not be disappointed. Feedback is great, wheel resistance is true. For games like Forza...it is the Shiz-night! If Burnout or other arcade like racing games are your liking, I could see this wheel not living up to your demands. A controller would still be your best bet. To me, the wireless wheel is best suited for the racing sim games. -
Oh, thats great to hear..... I got fired my RockBand up last night (12/25). I just solo played a couple a songs with the guitar before I stopped. The game kept freezing! Frustrated, I stopped and put it away for the night. Hope my drums last then! On another note, my sister in-law got the new party animals Pinata game. She said her game kept freezing too. Grrrr. Whats the deal!!!!?!!!!

Okay, I haven't lost it , I'm serious about this ...
The MilkMan replied to ProperRogue's topic in Atari 2600
Adobe After Effects has plug-ins that you could pull that off with I'm sure. If not, you could tweak the video enough to get a similar effect. Like photoshop, you can layer in effects on your footage. cosmosis...yes, the over-excited folks are a must! HAHA! -
I know this going off "Buy HD-DVD add on opinions"..... But after reading the debate of waiting for the format wars to end, got me thinking. I wonder if neither will "win". What got me thinking that, is the new streaming video switchers that are out now. Something like ESPN or CNN or whatever, can shoot footage with multiple cameras, and then cut between cameras from directors cue. This is LIVE, on a streaming internet feed! I know this has nothing to do with watching movies, but it leads me to believe that eventually, all media formats will be watched from the computer. With Apple TV, all the free shows you can watch from the affiliates websites...who knows, this all just got me thinking. Down-loadable movies, TV shows, programming, everything...one media source, one screen for everything.

Retro style commercials for selling Homebrews, cool! You could put (or ask anyways) the vids in the Atari Age store section to help drive sales. Why not, go for it. -
For the record...Rock Band is awesome
The MilkMan replied to Lord Helmet's topic in Microsoft Xbox 360
I seen the demo of making your band members, but what about making a band name? Can you make your own name up? And can you make your logo thing? (if there is such a thing) -

I have to wait until Christmas to open my Rock Band. Wife got it for me...although, I bet she caves in first. She can't wait to play this! I'm totally looking at Rock Band as to have friends over for a 4 player jam session. -
Is there a thread here at AA that discusses GH3 vs RockBand? I want to get one of these titles, just looking for input or pros/cons between the two.

Don't know if this has been posted already. I ran across a site where someone made a coin purse thingy from an old NES controller. Thought I'd share.... NES wallet

This is exactly what me and my friends have been waiting for. 4 player action! We dont play online. Tuesday night (release day) we got together and played split screen on my friend's 60' tv from 9pm to about 3am. We laughed, yelled, slugged /damned each other...man, what a hoot! And all the options of game variants to play! It looks like there is even a zombie variant in there too.

December (if I wait that long) will mark 1 year since I last fired up the 'ol 2600. Bought a Xbox 360 and I can't stop playing it. Anyway, last title that kept me occupied for hours was Circus Atari. It's a hoot! Oh, that and Crossbow...but that was because I bought it for myself as a 'mas gift. Never played it before that. +1 on Tunnel Runner!

I'm not a fan of these types of games, because I just don't get into the turn based combat style. But I tried the demo, and WOW is right. This game's look is amazing. It is a demo, but I never really figured out the musical playing portion of it. I kept getting a F when I tried playing with that kid in town. Cool game though, I might pick this one up.

4 contollers, 4 players...which games?
The MilkMan replied to The MilkMan's topic in Microsoft Xbox 360
Cool, thanks Moycon! -
Not on Live, just the four of us using the split screen. Anyone have suggestions for games that can have up to 4 players, the good and the poopy ones. Can be for the 360 or original titles (that are on the back compat list) I have the BK games already and no "shooters".

I had a bad power connector thingy (that hole where the power adapter plugs into the back of the 2600) go bad. There is a spring that pushes a tab "up" to connect with the power fitting when you plug it in. I took it apart, pulled and stretched the spring a bit, put it back together. It pushed the tab up further allowing to make contact with the plug when you push it in the console. Fired right up. Radio Shack has these little guys new in their parts bin too. Instead of the switch box, use that gold RF/Coaxial adapter that AA has for sale here, much easier. You can find that at R.S. as well.

It sounds like either the animation for a double musou which occurs when another general is nearby, or your rage musou which occurs when you're low on life. Yep, I think thats it. I noticed it again when I was next to another general. Freaked me out the first couple times it happened.
-
Question about special moves... On SW2 Empire, I had my musou bars full up (at least 2 bars full anyway), I hit the B button, and this small animation thing popped up before my character performed his special atttack. I tried it again later, but it didn't do. Then, latter in another battle it happened again. What is that? How do I get it to do this all the time?...or can you?

Yeah, I dont know. My wheel seems straight to me. I have not used the wheel racing on a dirt track. So far I've only been using it for Forza and PGR3. As far as sensitive goes, to me anyway, it reacts like a simulation wheel, not an arcade wheel. That being said, minimal input of left or right moves the car alot. Just like in real driving. When a car is going 170+ mph, any corrections you need to make on the track are going to be minute. You certainly would not jamb the wheel hard left or right. This wheel really forces (at least me anyway) to drive like the real thing. I mean, I don't just blast down the straight away, slam the brakes at the turn and expect to make it. When a corner comes up, there are numbers posted on signs, and they countdown as you get closer to the corner. These are your braking markers. Use those to help gauge the speed you need to enter a corner, take it, then get back on the throttle. So, as far as a universal steering device...hmmm, maybe it's not for that. It probably is more tuned for the simulated driving games. But then again, I love them, so it's great for me. One game I think this wheel would not be good for, is Burnout 3.

Am I missing Something By Not Owning A 360?
The MilkMan replied to Tempest's topic in Modern Gaming Discussion
I never thought I'd own a MS product. I was that Sony only guy. I bought a 360, and I love it. I'm pleased with the purchase of all the titles I own so far. Even the Burger King exclusives are kinda fun. I'm into the racing stuff, and the racing wheel for the 360 kicks butt! So whats this 90nv vs. 65nv all about? Anything I should worry about or need to consider? -
It was on sale for $99. So I picked one up. I love it. Took a bit to get used to. But after 2-3 races on Forza (don't have Forza 2 yet) everything clicked, and it really delivers a truley fun driving experience. I'd give this wheel a thumbs up. I'm glad the price was right and I got one.
