I was speaking of used prices on ShopGoodwill, which is Goodwills fake auction house site for selling their more expensive and collectible donations.
If you want new, Springfield Distribution is selling new stock for $45 with free Prime shipping.

ok thanks. I was always on the fence about picking one of those up and then covid hit.

What you are missing is that there are different products to solve different peoples problems.
The Atari2600+ is a product designed for people who what to push a 2600/7800 cartridge into a slot, and the game displays on HDMI television.
The GameStation Pro is designed for people who don’t want to buy physical carts, but want to play a limited number (200+) of 2600 / 5200 / 7800 / Arcade (and others) already built into the console and displays on an HDMI television.
It’s clear that the Atari2600+ isn’t for you, because you don’t care about the cart dumping capability. Between the two, the GameStation is probably much better for you.
As for hacking a system to play other game systems, there is a much smaller percentage of customers who are willing to do that (I would guess it is less than 10%). I don’t think either device is that useful for hackers currently. It seems as if the GameStation Pro doesn’t support folders, so if you put 1000s of games on it, it will take forever to find the one you want.Currently the best device for playing lots of different games from different systems on you HDMI tv is the Legends Flashback.
The ARM processor on this is capable of emulating everything up to about the 16-bit generation. These are easily hackable, have 6-button controllers, and can be found used for about $20-$40. Other good choices are a Nintendo Wii ($40-$60) (or WiiU $100), an Original Xbox ($30-$40), a PlayStation Classic $20-$40) (or PlayStation TV ($100)), a Win7 / Win10 computer (???) with HDMI out, or the dozens of Chinese set top boxes out there.
I don’t think Jaguar emulators are fast enough for any of these devices.
When you say the legends flashback can be found used for about $20-$40.. where are you referring? I never see the thing around anymore..

Based on what I'm seeing from reviews and people's comments. It looks like this is using some form of retroarch. Definitely using altira BIOS for 5200 games which makes me think it is using a5200 (comes with altirra bios) and not atari800.
Likely mane2003. Also if it recognizes the "samples" folder for arcade games chances are it recognizes other mame folders like "cfg" and "nvram".
Also likely using prosystem for a7800 emulation and stella 2013 for atari 2600 emulation. Depending on how current the retroarch is on it. It might be able to play ricki & vicki.
Two questions.
Has anyone tried connecting a keyboard to see if it is recognized?
Does the arcade version of Tempest included support the paddle controller?

Boy I'm glad I noticed this.. Video Pac + support was in OdysseyX for some time now but the background graphics were not displaying in Videopac+ mode due to the allegro code that handles it being commented it. It took a bit of jiggering.. but I got it working now.

No they were actual background graphics. They only exist on enhanced ROMs.
So are you saying these enhanced ROMS only ran on the Odyssey3/Videopac+?
Nevermind... I figured it out on my own.

So were these overlays that you actually put on your TV? Which emulators support this mode? Where can I download the overlays? Do I need new ROM images or do the original ROM images work? I'm intrigued!
I had an Odyssey 2 growing up. Pretty decent memories considering. A small handful games are still pretty playable.

Does Galagon not work in retroarch on Android(Stella 6.6)? I downloaded the demo and although the game starts up ok, the controls don't work. I can't move or shoot. This is with both the touch controls and a Bluetooth 8bitdo M30 controller. The same rom works fine on my retron 77 (6.5.3)
Just copy these files in the ZIP into the same folder that you have the games in the archive. Make sure they have the same exact name ( minus the extension ) as your game. This will allow the game to work. Basically what I did is I loaded the games in Stella on the PC and went into the settings and forced the controller type and saved the settings ( .pro ) file. Stella for retroarch will read these files in if they have the same name as the game.
I had opened an issue for this somewhere.. but I forget where.
I'm hoping to look into it once I'm done with Atari800 and Hatari for retroarch. Stella is next on my list of things to look at. Nothing fancy.. probably just a few minor touchups. ( Unlike Atari800 and Hatari ).
Here it is.. love the tag they gave it.. (rolls eyes). core bugs - not retroarch bugsinvalid: won't fix
They could "fix it" by connecting some of the stella functionality back to the retroarch core options. So more accurately it's an issue exacerbated by the retroarch interfae

What sort of file on what sort of hardware do you use to actually test-play this unreleased (almost complete??) game…?
I see links to pdfs and videos, but are there links to dumps of game-files, which can run either using emulation or on actual carts (if anyone bothered to make one for a dumped game)?

Blasphemy.. Only 16 channels?
To think how small that is compared to the number of channels we have access to these days. I remember in Maryland having to use a manual dial to access a station in Baltimore on UHF ( I think) just so I could watch Star Trek.

When I caught Covid last year I ended up getting walking pneumonia. Even after it was cleared up and I was feeling more energetic when I went to cut my yard I was completely wiped halfway through.
So yeah it can hit people in different ways for sure. The energy drain (lethargy) seems to be the most common thing.

Well I was hoping for a more technical description ... but if you don't want to be bothered doing so I guess magic will have to suffice.

Finally got around to trying these in the latest JagPemu... How do I get the ABS images to run? There are five of them that just give me a black screen.
And for the music swap. How did that work? I thought the Amiga had like 4 DAC sound chips and the ST ran on some Yamaha FM chip?

ok.. thanks for the info guy.
I was just wondering how much I would have to cough up to use the higher end emu's. I don't have anything now currently that can even handle Xemu or Xenia. Although the one can do dolphin pretty well.
Everyone may resume with their regular A7800 talk.

64-bit Windows first arrived ~20 years ago.
17 years later, back in 2020, Microsoft completely stopped offering 32-bit Windows and updates for such.
A powerhouse of a computer is not required to run a 64-bit OS.
$110.00 provides:
-Dell OptiPlex 9020-SFF
-Intel Core i5-4570 3.2GHZ
-16GB RAM
-128MB Intel HD graphics
-512GB SSD Solid State
-DVDRW
-Windows 10 Pro 64-bit
The above will play many emulators perfectly fine, A7800 included.
Nonetheless, to each their own.
Can it handle Xenia Canary, Xemu and whatever the PS3 emulator is called ( CEMU? ).

Do you take into account margin for error?

Rather than list my favorites, I am going to try to rank my top 10 Atari 2600 games based on hours played.
I loved a lot of the arcade type games, but I did not play them for hours on end.
1 - Adventure
2 - Haunted House
3 - Pitfall II
4 - E.T. (not even close to the worst video game ever!!!)
5 - Activision Decathlon (destroyed many joysticks playing this game)
6 - Pitfall
7 - Video Chess (this game taught me how to play chess)
8 - Superman
9 - Maze Craze (awesome multi-player game)
10 - Human Cannonball (I loved guessing the physics/gravity results)As for the "arcade" style games, Yars Revenge is my absolute favorite.
Did Video Chess teach you how to cheat in chess?

There are demo ROMs for Gravitic Mines and Last Strike.
All the games in reBOOTed have been reworked, but the base versions have been released for free.
Rebooteroids has beta ROMs available (admittedly much different to the final release).
All the ST ports are available for download.
Other titles like Biopede are available for free.
My API (RAPTOR) is available for free use.
The only things you cannot get for free are the licensed ports, which due to licensing requirements cannot be legally done.
I don't know what more you'd like me to do?
If you are referring to those recent bitmap brothers releases.. I have to say that those look and I think they are crazy cool!

The lock is not because of emus but some individuals selling them on bootleg carts.

I always wondered about that. I suspected it had to do with bootleg carts being made. But considering how volatile things were in the Jaguar community back in the day I was afraid to ask.
That being said.. it did seem like things finally calmed down over the years.

That did the trick.. Just tested it!

The most accessible program would be SETUP.COM on your DOS 2.5 disk.
Thanks... all these years and I didn't even know about that command!
I thought autorun.sys was limited to machine code games!

Who was the one who did the video review where Bentley Bear didn't have sound? I have an image that works in the Prosystem emulator which I'm 90% sure is the one they are likely using. I can PM you that image for testing..
