  1. I've had a binary of this one for quite some time (over a year at least) so apparently the rom image's been floating around the net for quite a while. I admit it does seem pretty "new." Wonder who made it? In any case I'd been hoping to find this on a cartridge since I first got the rom image of it so I'm happy I got it.
  2. Given the fact that this game was supposedly never released on a cartridge, it makes me wonder where it came from... but I'd been looking for this game so I bought it. I got it and it works fine and looks normal. Here is a link to the auction which has pictures of it: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...DME:B:EOAB:US:6
  3. Sorry if that was confusing, but I'll try again.... You mentioned that your Atari's whine changes depending on what channel it is set to. My guess is that it's something in the RF modulator that is oscillating or vibrating at a harmonic of the TV signal, but in the audible range. The tubes I mentioned don't have anything to do with your console or TV, I was just offering a reference as to similar behavior that I have observed in the vintage electronic equipment I collect. Best way to figure it out would be to listen carefully, possibly with the cover off and see if you can pinpoint exactly where the sound is coming from.
  4. I'm curious as to how you play obelix... I have a rom image of it and have tried it a few times but can't figure it out!
  5. I've played the rom of it and it's definitely on my ever growing "to buy" list. Granted, the maze isn't arcade perfect but it's close, and it has the proper fruits and prizes which appear in the right spot.
  6. I'd say in my case any that have the pc board's edge connector exposed. A shot of Progold G5 and a few insertions/removals cures it.
  7. I've had a Wico Command Control bat-handle joystick now for over 10 years. So far no problems with it, definitely the best in my opinion.
  8. It could be parasitic oscillation in the RF modulator, that is, something in the RF modulator is oscillating or vibrating at an audible frequency. All of the time bases in my tube oscilloscopes do this on the 10 microsecond range with a 50khz or so input to the vertical section, which sounds similar to the behavior you noticed. Is there any difference in the picture quality between the two units?
  9. Just a night or two ago I was browing Ebay for cartridges and saw someone trying to sell a boxed Stunt Cycle game for nearly $200.00. Gotta feel sorry for the sucker that bites on that one, but then again I think most people would have the smarts not to bid on that! Aside from this I think it's funny when someone lists "pac man" or some other common as rare.
  10. I remember playing Tac Scan and Depthcharge (now called Sub Scan I think) for the Atari and the arcade Star Trek machine before public release.
  11. Mine was finding the mystery object in Adventure, and finding the secret message with it for the first time.
