SNES2JAG AV Cable Converter Order List I am now taking orders for the SNES to JAGUAR Cable converter. What is it? An adaptor that is plugged into the Atari Jaguar and allows you to use widely available SNES AV cables with your Atari Jaguar. This device functions essentially as a signal pass-through, no additional processing of the signal is occurring. The signals are routed from the Atari Jaguar Edge connector directly to the SNES AV PCB and to your cables of choice. Will this improve the video quality of my Atari Jaguar? No, this device does not do any additional signal processing, upscaling or any other improvements to your Jaguars AV signals. The SNES2JAG converter is simply an AV cable converter that allows you to use SNES AV cables with your Atari Jaguar. What cables does the device currently support? · Standard Composite SNES AV Cables · Standard S-VIDEO SNES AV Cables · HDRetrovision SNES Component Cables Why Does This exist? I was messing around with some spare parts and thought it would be cool to make a way for Atari Jaguar fans to use widely available SNES cables instead of paying for overpriced and hard to find Atari Jaguar Peripherals. I was also curious if HDRetrovision Component cables would work with my Atari Jaguar and was plesantly surprised that it works and looks great! Is this product supported or endorsed by HDRetrovision? No, HDRetrovison has nothing to do with the creation, manufacture or support of the SNES2JAG Converter. As such, one should assume that using HDRetrovison cables with the SNES2JAG Convertor MAY void any warranty you might have with HDRetrovison. HDRetrovision states on their website that they encourage its users to experiment to see which game consoles work with their cables. This device was created in that spirit. Screenshot of HDRetrovision web site. Are you an Engineer? No I am not. I am a hobbyist. How can I order? You can reserve an AV Converter by responding to this forum posting. Only by replying to this Posting will you be placed on “the list”. This will reserve your place “in line”. Then, starting at the top, I will then send a private reply to each person (until inventory is depleted) and we can arrange payment and shipping details. Once payment is received your order will be shipped via USPS Priority Mail. How much is it? The Price is $25.00 USD plus shipping. How much is Shipping? USPS Small Box Priority Mail: $6.45 1-3 day delivery and comes with a tracking number. How will Orders be processed? I will fulfill orders on a first come, first serve basis with a limit of one unit per customer. Respond to this posting and this will reserve your place “in line”. Then, starting at the top, I will then send a private reply to each person (until inventory is depleted) and we can arrange payment and shipping details. I will make as many waves of these Converters as I can to accommodate everyone that wants one --parts permitting. How can I pay? I accept payment via Paypal. How Many are available? I currently have 18 Units completed and ready to sell/ship with the capacity and parts to make another 20 units. That’s it! Respond to this Posting to put yourself on the list for the first wave! Thanks!!!

You monster.

Case or no case, I don't care. Whatever you offer... consider it a day one sale for me!

Maybe mount a ZIF adapter to your cart, that way you can remove the chip for iteration.

Update: Sorry for being MIA.....My project is wrapping up and as such it requires allot of time. I am also working on pre-production on my next game so my free time is in short supply these days. I have some time this weekend set aside for projects so I will hopefully have a significant update to give. One update I can give is bag news...the lettered button attempt #2 was a failure so Ill be giving that another go this weekend. Other than that I have another idea in the planning stages, but again free time is in very short supply these days. Hope everyone is doing well. Thank you for your patience.

Update: Hi gang...its been a long week with few updates. Sorry for being MIA but I have a full time job now so, obviously that is going to chew up some of my free time. Anyway enough excuses..... I have had little time this week to make progress on the items I wanted to get done...I did however make a first pass at real plastic buttons for the pause and Option buttons....the first pass looks good, but perform badly. So Ill just chalk that up to a learning experience and push forward. I had a solution that Im pretty sure will work. Lettered Buttons: Im still in the process of making the lettered buttons, this is one of those things where cutting corners will screw the whole thing up. So, I know I can do it, just finding the time to do it properly. They are coming, just taking me longer than I wanted. Im pouring new moulds for standard buttons today as my old moulds were substandard and falling apart (poor quality silicone). The new moulds are much stronger and should last a long time. So thats it...not a sexy update and no pics of anything (sorry gang) but its an update..
-
Well everything will be made to order so.....inventory isn't an issue.
-
I am very close to offering button replacements for both the Pro and Standard controllers. Still working out the kinks of the carts and controller shells...but I think within the next week or so Ill be able to offer parts for sale and provide a list of goods to choose from. Progress!

Update My experiment in making lettered buttons has paid off. This is a first attempt at this so its not perfect...but this has given me enough confidence that I will be making a whole set with all lettered buttons for both the Pro-Controller and Standard controller. These pics aren't the greatest pics ever but you can see the Lettered button clearly. The angle of the letter B is also a bit off...this was just to see if I could make them....for the next batch I will ensure that I achieve the proper angle of the letters...If they aren't all teh proper angle it will look like crap so its important. Anyway check it out!

Update! I got around to trying my back cart half mold today....I decided to go with red dye and found a perfect way to make neon Pink. Its seriously bright but awesome looking anyway after figuring that out it was time to make some pro controller buttons too..... Jag Cart In PInk THe back mold didn't turn out perfectly...but it was a first attempt so...progress! Random cart attempts.... Pink Pro-Controller Buttons kI really like the way this looks. It almost kinda looks like Bret the Hitman Heart colors.....note to self--need to make black pro-controller shells. Just a quick update.....Next update will be about new buttons for the pro-controller that have the letters embedded into the buttons, like old sega six button controllers. My experiment with molding paid off and Ill be abe to make a test "B" button tomorrow. Till next time....

Update! So I spent the day making / re-doing my cartridge molds and while waiting for them to cure I decided to cast some Pro-Controller buttons. I got all of my dyes in so I went with a very pale yellow for contrast... its very lemon colored. This was intentional as I typically use too much dye and create a very dark color...also Im not that familiar with the new dyes and how they react so...its all trial and error for me. Pro Controller Buttons in "Lemon" The "Lemon" Pro-Controller buttons with an original shoulder buttons for comparison. "Falcon Controller Blue" I also decided to try my hand at the blue buttons as seen on a Falcon controller. Anyway, I just wanted to share this update with you guys...its not much but progress is progress....
-
Honestly I'm sure one could....I'm learning as I go so I'm not sure. I like silicon as it is flexible and makes removal of cast parts super easy...it also creates a near exact replica so that's a huge plus. Truthfully my molds failed due to my own fault... I rushed making the mold and as such there were key areas that were sub-par. When done properly, silicon molds are very strong and last a long time..... when corners are cut....you start to have problems...I just need to slow down and do things the "right" way...which is what I am doing now.

Update: I attempted to cast another cart front with my existing mold after patching it up and trying to avoid having to redo the whole thing........it was a waste of time. .Leaks abounded and in general it was a bust...so I remade the front cart mold and will be pouring the rest of the mold tonight. The back cart mold turned out awesomely so I will be attempting to pour a back cartridge case tonight.... On the controller front I will be making Pro-Controller molds very soon. I have high expectations for the pro controller molds as the Pro-Controller has a perfect horizontal line cutting between the two halves....this will give me a perfect "cut line" to make the molds out of...The standard controllers have an angled cut line wich makes making molds a bit more difficult...but in general things are looking good on the controller front. I looked through the files from the link as supplied by Zerosquare, I found allot of cool controller drawings but no Gerber files for the internal controller PCB's. I am going to focus on the shells atm as I do not want to spread my efforts to thin across too many projects...Its still a priority, but I want to get the controller molds in a good place so I can start producing some items. Anyway....things are looking good....its just taking me longer to get fully operational than I wanted.
-
Check out those files from Curt Vendel, they may be in them. I know the mechanical blueprints for the controllers are in there, at least. There are also some gerbers and mechanical blueprints for the cartridges on his site. If you can't find them, try contacting him directly, he's got lots of former Atari archives (he's a member of AtariAge). Awesome, thanks so much for the lead on these files. Ill dig around in there and see if these are what I need. One step closer.

I am interested in exploring what it would take to make new PCB's for controllers. Either as a DIY kit, or a small run. Thats the main reason I am curious about any PCB files (gerber or eagle) that might be on the Atari HQ #1 disk. What I am most interested in is finding out if there is a way to streamline the design and move the majority of the important stuff (chips and diodes) to the upper PCB while the lower PCB only has the numerical buttons. THis way I can make a removable 12 keypad and make a much smaller "joypad". Thats the "Dream". I think the price of pro-controllers on eBay are ridiculous.....so Im ging to try and do something about it.
-
I learned everything from watching videos on how to make replacement Rubik's Cube pieces. The core principles are exactly the same for making molds of just about anything. The biggest hindrance is the cost. Getting started cost a little bit, but once your up and running its pretty affordable. Ill try to post more pics of my process....basic Mold making and liquid resin casting. Im gonna re-make/improve my cartridge case molds then finish my controller shell molds....almost ready to start production.
-
Thanks you are literally looking at the first and second attempt. (Black and ORANGE respectfully). I am going to adjust the molds a bit and see if I cannot increase the quality. My Dyes should arrive today so Ill be very close to taking orders for things if people are still interested. I know I'm looking forward to making my first full controller...gonna make a grey Falcon / Jag controller. I Always wanted one of those. Also does anyone know if the Jag Controller Gerber Files are on the Atari HQ #1 Disk? If they are I would love to buy one for those files. I wanna look inot what it would take to make new controller PCB's.....even if its homebrew style.
-
I'm looking into it.....that might be beyond my abilities though....we'll see. Its not a high priority atm as I have found companies that can make them for you.....not sure of the cost though.

Here are some test castings for new pieces. Cart Shells Here is the first casting of the cart front. I misjudged the amount of resin I would need for the cart front so I ran short. I have it dialed in now so I This shouldn't happen again. Reproduction Top /Original Bottom Shoulder Buttons THe shoulder buttons turned out better than I thought but Im already going to redesign the mould for these buttons. The current mould does an ok job, but it makes pouring the resin difficult and wasteful....A revision is in the works. Reproductions are in the second and fourth spaces / Originals are first and third. (Count Fron the left) New Plastic button for Pause and Option This is a clone of a button from a saturn controller. I am going to file it down into a capsule shape to match the existing controller opening and recast it to replace the Pause and Option membrane uni-button that the Jag controller currently uses. UPDATE: I couldn't resist trying another cart front.....this time in ORANGE. I'm not happy with the cart mould.....so I am going to redo it. The new silicone Im working with is of a much better quality and I have over a gallon of it so I can afford to do this right than to keep having to do clean up. Anyway, its a fun first day back in the shop, I gotta get me groove back, but Im up and running and will have more posts as the days come. Fun Times ahead!

I have cast the Silicon moulds for the pro-controller buttons including the shoulder buttons. I also have a test button that hopefully will allow me to cast buttons with an embedded letter. So instead of having the letter silkscreened on the front of a controller (which I dont know how to do anyway), the letters will be part of the buttons. Like an xboxes buttons, but for Jag pro controllers. anyway, its an experiment so we'll see how it turns out. I am also making real plastic replacement buttons for the options and pause selectors on the jag controllers....I cant stand the lame silicon squishy stock buttons...so a replacement is being made.... Anyway, thats all the updates for now....I have some final moving in stuff to do....curtains to hang and few last household things to tackle...then its back to the controllers! Have a great day everyone.

Update: I cast the front half of the cartridge and it came out really good. I now have enough Liquid Silicone to create the molds for the Pro-Controller buttons and to cast the back half of the cartridge..which I will do this weekend. I will cast a set of pro-controller buttons and a cartridge in White just for fun, but I am holding off on making any major runs of items until my set of dyes arrive....I should be able to reproduce pretty much any color desired...so cool things and some pic updates coming soon. Thanks for hanging in there with me during my transition back into full time employment.

Yes, Ill be making the shoulder buttons as well. The design is tricky but not too bad. Ill still make a two part mold for ease of button removal, but Ill also include a pour spout on the mold so I can put the two halves together, then pour the resin through the pour spout. Im thinking Ill arrange the shoulder buttons vertical, with the "Tail" sticking up. This will give me a bit of work room on the end no-one will see while ensuring the button part gets a good casting.....Hopefully tonight we'll see how well that turns out.
