You're forgetting about one thing, Kodi. The Alienware Alpha used a custom skin on Kodi to give it a console like experience on PC. All they need is Ubuntu to force start Kodi with a locked-in custom skin. https://www.howtogeek.com/67497/how-to-skin-your-xbmc-for-fame-glory-and-best-looking-media-browsing-around/

The sub-reddit drama has been over hyped by everyone who reported on it. The Official Account removed 1 thread and banned one user. It wasn’t until they set up their "Official" subreddit that they went on a banning and deleting binge.

It was a generic email most likely sent to anyone that has worked with Atari. I thought it was odd when I received it, but when the Register article was released it all made sense. I've worked on NDAs for most of my career, so I've got a firm grasp of what can and cannot be said. As for my avatar, it's not like I'm impossible to find online and when I was in there group they could see a personal photo. I've used "The Historian" and "Historian" since '98 and always associated it with my "True Name" (Any Vinge fans out there?).

I'm not sure. There are at least 4 in the C-suite, a director, and a social media manager (not Uber). That's six right there.

I was a Manager in the Electronics section of Service Merchandise in '96. They were one of the first companies to jump on the "Sell a product, sell a warranty" bandwagon. Hated working there. Store Manager and Asst. Mgr were both fired for theft. Sorry to be off taco... uh... topic.

Sorry, I missed your post but glad that I'm not the only one thinking this way.

I have two major concerns with current the VCS production timeline: Chinese New Year on Jan 25th when China comes to a halt for 2 weeks CE, FCC, UL, and CSA certification.
-
I was wondering why I got an email from Atari's Lawyer last Friday reminding me I'm under an NDA.

The following is personal opinion. I've long said that, "your most ardent detractors are on your side, they want things to be better; they just might suck at communicating it." This applies to both sides here. Both sides have people who are a bit zealous in thier beliefs about Atari's efforts thus far. It's clear that the Pro Atari side including Atari itself are not familiar with the nature of managing an online community. When a inconvenient quest is asked you address it; Even if you don't have a good answer. If you remove it and/or ban people it looks like a cover up and that you have something to hide. It's worse when you do it habitually. I think that with the VCS the word "Troll" is a convenient excuse for some to keep themselves insular. And given that Atari SA has at this point not made an effort to keep their PR team in check is tacit approval of sweeping information and questions they don't like under the rug. It wasn't until there was an uproar that got an update. Unfortunately it will always look like a reactionary effort.

Yeah... about that... Talk to you on July 6th, 2021

Rob was brought on-board by Feargal way before the "falling out".

We've got a little more traction over on the unofficial subreddit. The post is long as I've listed the games from AntStream's website.
-
You know I run the Arcade1Up subreddit too, we post deals when we find them.

An interesting article from the BBC on the maze generation of the game Entombed. It seems the researchers just don't understand how it works. I wonder if anyone here has looked into the code for this game? Reddit is having issues.

And this is now a thing. https://www.reddit.com/r/Atari_VCS_Official/ I hear they are quick with the ban hammer over there.

The Gameboard-1 is like a flat computer with a square display, 16 inches-by-16 inches. It is thin, light, and portable, and you can expand it by connecting it to other Gameboard-1s. You can also connect a private screen, like your smartphone, to it so you can play a game like poker, where you want to hide the cards from other players. It’s a novel idea that comes from an unlikely pair of founders, Shail Mehta and Rob Wyatt, who created The Last Gameboard company in January. https://venturebeat.com/2019/09/12/gameboard-1-will-be-a-digital-slate-for-your-tabletop-board-games/

Weird that they would leave that one comment.

We are not "Official", it's always been designated as Unofficial. The Official account was removed as a moderator for removing posts and banning a user just because they didn't like what he was posting. This after saying they would never delete posts. Unfortunately there is nothing Uber about their Strategists. They are still welcome to contribute, and anything they post will be marked as "Official".

Someone posted a video, claiming to have a prototype board, which was shot with a potato camera set on the opposite of a steady cam in the deepest, darkest cave you could find. Honestly it looks like a raspberry pi hidden in a converse shoe box. Give the guy credit though, it's a real easy way to get views. I've reached out to Mike Arzt at Atari to confirm if it is real but I'm not sure if he is speaking to me these days.
-
Explain what? Since this seems to be off topic shoot me a message.
-
Thanks. It's all good. They still have the ability to post, I never banned them. And when they post it will be marked as Official as I've automated that process. If they've abandoned, then that was their choice.
